I have booked our 1st Celebrity cruise on the Solstice for Sept 22, 2015 10day to Hawaii from Vancouver for our 10th anniversary. We have cruised on HAL (1),Princess (1), & Carnival (4) times. We have never had a bad cruise. However, after reading these forums, my overall impression of the average Celebrity cruiser, is an entitled, elitest, snob. Wow aren't we special! Hope the ship isn't dead at 10pm!

That being said we want to have a great time and meet new friends. So reassure me, did we make a good decision!

Don't let a few posts on cc deny you a great cruise on Celebrity.

We have done seven cruises on Celebrity since 2011 and love it. We have enjoyed all our cruises and had very little issues with the cruise line.

I think only a few Celebrity cruisers are just expressing complaints about some of the minor changes.

We have meet many great people on Celebrity ships and not found any elitist or snobbish behavior.

Notwithstanding what is written on this forum, Celebrity is a great cruise line. Solstice is a very nice ship and we are sure you will have a fine time. The "lateness" of the party will depend on the particular cruise. Most longer cruises attract older clientele but these pax stay up late when there is no port to reach in the morning. Enjoy your trip.

Weeelllll....I must admit I have encountered elitist, snobbish attitudes on Celebrity at times....but I've also encountered those same attitudes on Carnival.

However I think your fears are more of a reflection of a certain vocal minority on these forums rather than of the average Celebrity cruiser.

As for the ship being dead at 10pm? Certainly not. Maybe 10:30, though :)

These aren't "funships" but I'm sure if you go looking for late night entertainment you will find it.

Don't worry folks are totally different in person, than they are anonymously on here. I've met some wonderful people on my cruises with Celebrity. I always do the fixed seating for dinner and am happy to say, I've never had bad tablematess. Make sure you join your roll call and sign up for the meet and greet; it is a great way to meet some of your co-cruisers prior to and while onboard your sailing.

I'm doing the same cruise, but in April of 2016. Are you going into Hawaii early, I'm thinking about going to Maui prior to the cruise.

The truth is they are actually above average. Plus most of us are not on that cruise. Check out the roll call. :D

The ship is still alive at 10 because that is when the last show is ending and usually the time that the late dining in the MDR is wrapping up. :D

I am sure that you will enjoy the cruise so much that you will eventually have over 400 cruise credits and be part of the group.

So you have endured 4 Carnival cruises (you must of liked them) and your worried about Celebrity. I hope your laughing along with me cause this just strikes me a little funny.

It's a bit stuffier over here in Celebrity land since the cliental has been around for a long time, both in life and in cruising. Don't let them get you down, they just like to complain.

Celebrity is fabulous all the way around. The ships and staff always deliver. Don't second guess your decision and have a great cruise.

That's the spirit! Well ok 10:30 is my normal bedtime anyway!

Not just Carinival either!

As long as they have a great social (think Cheers) type bar that serves a great Vodka Gimlet, I will be okie dokie!

We are on this cruise. We have been to Hawaii on Celebrity several times and this will be our 4TH time on the Solstice. You will meet fun people onboard as we have 5 sea days to start. Because of the time change for many, it will not be a late night crowd. Beautiful ship !

My wife (3rd) and I are in our late 50's so we are in the prefered age dynamic!

Heck, I have loved every CCL cruise taken, first one in1983, HAL boring, Princess, our honeymoon, fabulous!

Although we've met great people on all Cruiselines, the Celebrity passenger is has been the BEST! On our last cruise we met so many nice people, it was just so enjoyable getting to know them all. Do NOT use this board as a reference point because on board is a whole different experience

Once actually on the ship, Celebrity is very different from what you might expect from many of the comments here.

We've found the passenger base on Celebrity to almost always be very nice people. One of the things we like most about Celebrity. :)

Having just finished a 28 day cruise on the Solstice from Sydney to Vancouver, through Honolulu. I can say the ship wasn't quiet at 11 pm unlike the last two HAL cruises we took last year. A great many of the cruisers opted for the free drink package which ensured that things were still humming along up until midnight. Plus the fact going from Vancouver you will have three time changes where you will gain an hour on each change. If you don't smoke you will love their smoking policy. No smoking inside the ship including the casino as well as the staterooms and the stateroom balconies. The lifeboat drill is inside and you don't have to stand outside as some cruise lines still make you do. There were no problem with the passengers. The average age on the Honolulu to Vancouver portion was probably 55-65 but there were plenty in their 30's and 40's. The only bad part was immigration check in Honolulu where it took an extra two hours to get off the ship. I would not book a private tour on your first Hawaiian port unless it started after 10AM . We had plenty of ticked off people that had early private tours and they couldn't get off the ship in time to make their connections. Passengers with Celebrity tours had top priority and they had a separate line and that line went through first so be forewarned. Otherwise an outstanding cruise.

You might have made a mistake or two... Iowa's famous Cooper's Hawk and the Baldfaced Hornet???;)

Not sure what you mean? But my name refers to being a Hawkeye fan, where I live & my son graduated from and a Texas Longhorn fan where I was born and raised.

Worry not! This Nov will be our 20th Anniversary of our 1st cruise with Celebrity, in 1994. I guess we have not sailed the right routes or times because we have yet to meet, experience, or hear about people acting this way, well, except here, on Cruise Critic:D

The night life won't be as good as 6th street on a Sat night after a Longhorn victory:eek: but it will be fun!
