Carnival's Loyalty program questions...

When you reach Diamond, you get

1. One-time complimentary meal for 2 at Specialty

Restaurant of choice

and

One-time free cabin upgrade OR 3rd and 4th

guests sail free

Does this mean it is one time permanent or once per cruise?

If you only get the above ONCE...then diamond isn't really worth reaching...save the complimentary wash and fold each time you board.

2. Also for this deal:

Casino: Buy 1 tournament entry, get 1 free

What is the value of a tournament entry?

3. I've sailed my first cruise with Carnival on a 8 day cruise...so right now I am blue. If I book another cruise with carnival, will I immediately be red and thus get the "Free drink at Seaday Brunch"? Or do I get red after I complete my second cruise?

loyalty program is not worth much.

both the upgrade and the dinner are one time events.

Used to get free admissions to blackjack or other tourneys so that was very nice but now it is bogo so we stopped doing it altogether.

its a one time thing.

Carnival's loyalty program is one of the worst in the industry. Really not worth it to sail exclusively on Carnival just to attain a status level that amounts to pretty much nothing, or for perks that you can currently pay for without any status.

John Heald said the below in a blog recently, so maybe they will make the VIFP program a little more worthwhile...

We have no plans to add reserved seating at the shows but certainly the loyalty program is being reviewed as we approach its two year anniversary. Thanks for your loyalty and I hope we see you soon.

$25 to enter the slot tournament...

Other than a couple of one time events you pretty much go back to Platinum perks. The only thing different is Diamonds get a Captain's event each cruise.

You will be red at the beginning of your second cruise and will receive the free drink coupon.

The last time they reviewed it they told us the changes would be BRILLIANT and instead took stuff away from us all so not expecting anything good this time.

You just took your first Carnival cruise and you're wondering about Diamond status perks? Pretty sure that "one time" means one time. Otherwise it would say "every time." :p

I just took my 19th Carnival cruise (with 20 and 21 booked) and I absolutely don't care what Diamond perks might be because I'll never get there.

As soon as I get my Milestone (25th) OBC, I'm moving on.

I just need to grow up and start cruising with the oldsters. :o

Can someone steer me to info about the 25th "milestone cruise?" We were on the Splendor 5/12-5/20 and were VERY SURPRISED when we were handed our S&S cards and they were silver and said 25/MILESTONE on them. But the only thing we "got" was chocolate covered strawberries and free wash and dry. Didn't see any OBC, etc. I figured maybe you had to take ONE MORE or something, and another strange thing is that we could have SWORN we were on our 24th CCL cruise.:confused::eek::confused: I have to admit I am totally disillusioned with CCL's loyalty program also. It's kind of "too late" to switch now, but in hindsight, if I had known about 10 cruises ago that CCL was going to treat loyal pax with so little regard, I would have attained milestone status with Princess or RCI. :(

You have to request the Milestone Reward. I think you have two years to use that 25% OBC. Makes sense, as my Milestone happened to fall on a 5 day cruise, but I requested that it be granted on a 12 day instead, and therefor got a MUCH BETTER OBC.

The "WHITE CARD" is now reserved for "Diamond" passengers instead of Milestone Passengers.

Are you kidding me? I could have had 25% OBC last week if I had just ASKED for it? Now I have to book ANOTHER CRUISE just to USE IT?? I mean, they never TOLD us we had this option (to request OBC):confused: If that's the case, I am going to be seriously P**##'ed off and the beards are going to HEAR from me.

Karry, some people get a letter after their 24th cruise explaining all this, and some people do not. I didn't. I knew that I should be getting the 25% OBC with my 25th cruise, so I called the Milestone Desk, (I'll have to dig up the number again, unless someone here can post it), and they set me up. The good thing is that you have two years to claim the 25%, so you don't have to use it on your 25th cruise if you don't want to. I waited until my 28th cruise, a more expensive cruise, so I could get the biggest bang for my buck!! BTW, the 25% OBC is of the cruise fare only of the individual who is claiming it. If your DH is also eligible, he can claim it too!! Hope that helps. Sorry you weren't aware of your eligibility.

Karry, by your siggy, you do only show 24 CCL cruises, so you getting a Milestone card confuses me. Did you check your Past Cruise history on Carnival's website?

Thanks for this info, Jamman. You KNOW I am a loyal and cheerleading CCL cruiser, but little by little I am starting to see "what the naysayers are talking about." I still love CCL, but there were a couple of things on this cruise that really got my goat! And now this...as I had mentioned if you remember, I don't think we will be cruising for a long time. It was perfect with a CCL ship in NY, but now that's not going to happen for a while and we have had some very severe and totally unexpected expenses in the past few months, so I kind of thought: "well, this might be IT" (after all this time!) and so I really just looked the other way on a lot of things. So I will check our cruise history, because we were super surprised we achieved this status. That's really the main reason I am so upset about missing out on the OBC, because otherwise I would just say, oh, well, we will go on another cruise next year or whenever...so it just seems like something we "earned" from CCL that we won't be able to take advantage of. :(:( Oh, well, life goes on and sometimes things change for the better! ;)

Life can throw some wrenches at you, and hopefully within the next two years you will be able to cruise again and take advantage of the OBC that you have earned.

Yep, positive thoughts! :) I just saw your countdown clocks. When did the Breeze come in? I am so excited for you! That is the ONE ship I REALLY want to sail on. Another "factor" is that tho I did like the Splendor I was on her 3x. We did the Spirit 3x I think and the Miracle 4x, but the Splendor just wasn't my favorite and I don't think I would "waste" a cruise to sail on her a 4th time. If we won the lottery, I would definitely book the Breeze from wherever she was sailing from lol. ;)

I went on my "Milestone" 25th cruise last year. Got the white card. Went on my 26th cruise early this month, got the Platinum card. White was a one time deal for the Milestone cruise.
