Glad "all is well that ends well" but it make me rethink the option of Luggage Express.

I had heard that Air Canada was now cleared to use this service but I can lose luggage all by my self.

Carnival's customer service is just awful when things go wrong.

That said, the lesson here is to never surrender your baggage until and unless you really need to. This is why we travel light.

I'm glad you received your bag intact, though.

Oh, Froufie! What an ordeal! Glad you finally got it. When you started, I was just sure that it would be USAir's fault and that it was sitting in Charlotte somewhere. I was going to volunteer to drive down and retrieve it for you! ;)

Hope the cruise was good, though, and that you'll be writing one of your great reviews. If you've already done that, please point me to it as I must've missed it. I just finally finished my review of Pride (sailed 5/4).

Come join me on Splendor to Bermuda in October 2015! It's expensive, but I snagged 2217. The other 1A w/PH cabins on Main are still available. And I have a "virtual" friends and family voucher through my PVP (there was no one manning the future cruise/Carnival credit card desk the week I was on).

Hi Joan:D - that is so sweet of you - and thanks for the offer (but glad it wasn't necessary!!!). Cruise was fine (except for a slight stomach bug the first couple of days causing me to miss lobster night! :()....saw your review! :)

Doing another transatlantic end of October - so in major planning mode now - but have never been to Bermuda and would love to go one day. Have a super time!

Your luggage didn't get lost, it just went on an adventure without you!

If only my suitcase could 'talk' LOLOLOL - wondering where that adventure took it!

Yes I too am capable of losing my suitcase - and I guess we build up a lot of 'trust' all those years of leaving our luggage outside the cabin on the last night and then finding it again - always lucky !

What a nightmare. I would be asking for a lot more than a refund!

Well I have definitely voiced my displeasure - and it remains to be seen if something more is 'offered'??? Will be checking that credit card statement carefully for the promised refund!!!

I AM THRILLED TO REPORT THE 'NIGHTMARE' IS OVER :D:D:D

The suitcase has arrived - today!!! and guess what the 2 red cable ties that I placed on the suitcase thursday night (may 15!) were still intact - and everything is okay!

I am now sorting and doing laundry cuz everything is crushed and smells a bit 'tropical' - but otherwise I am a very happy camper! All 'gifts' for hubby and kids have been distributed and candy for office workers is ready to go.

DS is thrilled that he finally got his 'good night' chocolates (I save them all and bring them home) - LOLOL.....

I literally hugged my suitcase when I saw it - how funny that must have looked.....

Now comes the big chore of putting everything back into the 'cruise box' for another 5 months when I shall be on my next cruise adventure (which hopefully does NOT include any lost or wandering luggage).

Thanks to everyone for their support, stories and wishes - it did help me get thru this! :)

Awesome!!! I'm so glad things worked out, and you received your suitcase with everything intact!!!! Good things happen to good people!!!:)

Thanks to you and everyone else for their kind thoughts - yours was especially appropriate cuz when my luggage was lost I was telling my hubby that I must have some kind of 'bad karma' going on as 'bad' things were happening to me LOLOL :) (yes I was also quite distracted during this 'fiasco' that I did 'tap' someone's bumper while driving around a corner!!!:eek:)

I still haven't put my suitcases away and they rode home with 2-1/2 weeks ago!

I'm going to do a transatlantic some day. Since air is so high, I know I'll want to fly over and turn it into a nice, long European vacation (visit friends in England first, eat my way down through France, then visit Spain or Italy and maybe do a Med cruise prior to the TA). If I'm going to do that, I need to stop cruising 2 or 3 times a year and save my money!

But here I am considering booking the 6-night Bahamas prior to the Bermuda cruise for a 13-night B2B (both really expensive even for a 1A). :o

We really must cruise solo together one of these days! ;)

Mindy!

I kept seeing someone on Pride and I was just sure it was you for a couple of days, but when I got up close, I decided it was someone else. She probably wondered why I kept staring at her. :o

I really need to sail Legend before it's too late. Have a great time and come back when you return to let us know how it was. Good luck in the casino, too!

On my last cruise I talked to a Canadian who told me Delta will not accept Luggage express for international flights, even if they stop in an American airport first. I don't know if that applies to your case.

Actually Luggage Express was hardly ever available for Canadians - until most recently. When the form was distributed by Carnival it did indicate that yes it was available for international flights and then listed the participating airlines (I was flying home on US air not Delta) - I am assuming if an airline was not willing to participate with international luggage handling then they would not be listed???

Yeah Froufie...could be a kid's book..story of the lost traveling suitcase...so glad all was there..I just hate fiascoes..LOL..much love ...Sarah

Sounds like it might be a good 'read'? The Adventures of Froufie's Travelling Suitcase!

It's actually a pretty 'distinctive' piece of luggage :)

....and a very 'self-explanatory' luggage tag!!!

Froufie,

You forgot to mention in your original post that the first baggage claim check you received was wrong and you had to go back to GS to get it corrected.

Seems like it was jinxed from the beginning, but all's well that ends wells (except for the unneeded stress).

Susann:)

Yes you're right - they did mess up my 'first' luggage tag but I went and got a corrected one.

Still trying to figure out what happened - I suspect the 'luggage express' suitcases are offloaded to a special spot? I believe that either a) my suitcase did not get to the proper place for transport to the airport by Carnival?? or b) the luggage tag actually somehow fell off? In both cases that would have resulted in my luggage being 'left behind' or abandoned?

And that's what puzzles me the most:confused::confused: There was my suitcase (and I am sure statistically there may have been a few others as well?) that were 'left' alone after everyone had disembarked and the new cruisers had embarked - so how come no one noticed it?

I of course had my name/cellphone number both inside and outside my suitcase - yet it took over 3 days for it to 'reappear' somewhere at Port Canaveral and for an embarkation agent to call me?

I guess I'll never really know what happened and this makes me very leery of using the service again (altho I know the odds are in my favor of not having another 'incident' like this and that hundreds if not thousands of suitcases get thru the LEX experience with no problem!)
