Can you enjoy the BA twice?

I just picked up another cruise certificate. I have one year to take the cruise. Since I already have the Dawn booked for Sept., I would like to take a cruise in March or April. To go out of NY, this really only leaves me with the BA. I went on the BA in April. I did enjoy it quite a bit. I just don't think I want to see any of the shows a second time; cirque, burn the floor or ROA. I wish they would change up their shows so I could fill my evenings. Really not sure. I know there are people that have done the BA more than once. Did you do the shows again?

I did the BA twice, but they were different ports. I didn't see any show 2X. I think if you do different excursions, and do different speciality restaurants, you will enjoy it. I always think of it as I don't get bored of my favorite sushi, great restaurant or godiva chocolate. I did like the Breakaway, although she is not my favorite ship, I still had a good time. Just try to do different things.

We've been on the Breakaway twice. Once to Bermuda, & once on a 12 day January Caribbean sailing.

We had a great time on both cruises. We did get a chance to try other specialty restaurants we missed the first time. We enjoyed the jazz club, Burn the Floor, & Rock of Ages just as much the second time. We didn't go to the Cirque show again.

The other lounge performers, hypnotist, & featured acts were not the same as on the first sailing.

The Cruise Director on the first one was Julie, and Sinan on the second. Both were excellent!

The Gem does sail year-round from N.Y. We love her as well. Check the itineraries. They do vary.

I spend enough time in the casinos! That's what I am afraid of. If I don't have a show that adds more time to the casino. I'm afraid I'll run out of casino cash quicker than normal.

The certificate is for NCL only:)

I would love to try the Gem. When I checked, it only gave me the choice of May. My husband's company gets very busy close to May and he wants to go before that:(

:confused:I don't quite understand this ... Gem sails from NYC year-around - there are cruises out of NYC in Jan, Feb, Mar and Apr 2015.

We are going on Breakaway this summer. Plan on spending most nights outdoors on the Waterfront listening to music and having drinks. Only booked one show so far, Cirque.

Sorry, we don't gamble, so no casino for us.

Being outdoors on my balcony with some wine watching the ocean go by while at sea is amazing. Or going up to deck 16 and star gazing will be fun, too.

While in Bermuda we plan on hitting the beaches by day and maybe the Zoo. For sure we plan on riding the ferries to sightsee.

Next year I do want to try out the Gem to Great Stirrup Cay.

But I have a feeling that I am going to fall in love with Breakaway and will probably sail her again and again!

OP, hope you can find a cruise you are looking for :)

Happy Sailing!

Sorry didn't read about the FCC.

Like others said, doing a ship a 2nd time isn't a punishment. Get a spa pass, do the things you missed the first time.

Otherwise stack up on casino discount coupons. ;)

Btw, try http://www.cruisetimetables.com/cruises-from-new-york-city-new-york.html to look for all the cruises out of NY.

Unfortunately, this FCC is for a 7 night cruise only. The Gem is 8, 9, or 10 nights. I have narrowed it down to the BA in April or the Getaway out of Miami. I really don't want to fly since I am flying in December for a quick trip to WDW.

I would definitely see Second City again, since that is always different. I didn't get to Fat Cats. I might consider ROA again.

There are plenty of Second City shows and plenty of blues to fill the entertainment void for me. I enjoyed Burn and Rock, but figure much of the rest of the entertainment will be different next time as it will be 2 years between cruises for me, will book BA again if it falls into my schedule, like to visit new ports, like to cruise out of NYC.

Please check your FCC - mine stated 6 days or longer. I was able to use it to book a 17 day cruise.

Cheers.

Hi,

We have been on the BA 4 times now and planning a 5th trip in December.

There is always something different to do or see. We have never been bored. The first time was the inaugual out in May 2013. We have done the inaugual to Bermuda. A Christmas cruise and our last was in a spa balcony. Our December trip will be in the Haven.

Go and enjoy! It is my understanding that some ofthe entertainment has and will be changing on the ship. Slam Alan is gone and another jazz band is there -- loved the new band also. Fire and Ice was back on board.

The ship has so much to do you cannot do it all in one trip. I need to get back and try the rope course again and the water slides -- have not even done those yet!

OP: I was on the Inaugural Trans-Atlantic crossing for the Norwegian Breakaway and I did all the shows, including Cirque, Rock of Ages and Burn the Floor. I took a spur of the moment cruise last week on BA again and I went to all the shows again except Cirque. It gives you something to do in the evening and since I like to dance and love watching dancing, Burn the Floor continued to be a highlight for me. Rock of Ages I did watch again but could’ve gone without. There are other alternative entertainment including Arvin and Emily, Howl at the Moon whatever is in Fat Cats. I didn’t go into Fat Cats on either voyage, except for the Latitudes reception. I still had plenty to do at night on Breakaway this second go around. I’d give it a shot and try and catch the shows with Burn the Floor in the Manhattan Room as well combining dinner with your featured evening entertainment!

We did the Breakaway in June to Bermuda (loved loved loved Bermuda) and then a two nighter in January. The only shows we saw again was Rock of Ages and Second City (mostly the same on all ships). ROA wasn't bad seeing it for the second time, but some of the cast was different, so that helped.

Love the Gem(just do not wanna do Florida /Bahamas again)Theater shows every night...they just changed their 7 day to 8 day, so you might get lucky... call and check with CAS(they usually work with you to get you on the ship---especially if you have past gambling with them--with NCL you never know what answer you get.

Keep us posted Call them and try

Safe sailing

We have sailed on her twice and enjoyed both times. We did not see some shows for a second time, but that still left us with plenty to do on the ship. In fact, we still could not get to everything we wanted to do.

We also find that each sailing is different (we have done the Pearl twice). You never know what who you will meet, what you are in the mood to do, and what is scheduled each day.

Thanks for all the answers and suggestions. I'm still debating and trying to convince my husband to take the Gem, 1st week of May. I never got to Fat Cats so would enjoy that. I have no clue who Arvin and Emily are. Somehow I really missed them. I think I did every other show. I liked Howl at the Moon, but didn't love their voices. I thought the female was the best. I'm just afraid I'll spend too much time in the casino and run out of money real fast!
