Carnival Gift Card - 10% Bonus Offer

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if you can use obc to buy the card?

You can't. It is either visa, mastercard, AMEX, or Discover.

I have been buying gift cards to use on our July 5th cruise for a few months now. I noticed this promotion last week and plan on jumping on it getting $500 worth.

I was all excited about it and was going to make a purchase for use on my 2015 cruise but check out the details regarding timing. The plastic card (the main gift card) expires 12/31/14 and the promotional gift card (10 percent) expires 12 months from the purchase date. So that negates use on 2015 cruises. In addition, the gift cards cannot be refunded so if you had to cancel the cruise, you would be out of luck. So timing is certainly a consideration.

where did you see this? From what I've read the main card has no expiration date.

I think the answer to this is yes, but want to make sure. We are cruising in Sept. 2014. Can I buy a giftcard to pay towards this cruise and then also apply the 10% promotional card against this cruise too? Our final payment is due in about a month and if I can get a 10% bonus too, all the better.

Can you use a gift card to pay the balance of your cruise??

Sure can. I purchased a boatload of gift cards for my upcoming cruise, and just this morning I applied $150 towards the balance so that my final payment is low even amount. Doesn't matter if you're paying it off or paying on it, the payment screen has an option to use a gift card.

Here's the wording from Carnival FAQ's on this...I read this to say the Plastic PROMOTIONAL card expired 12/31/2014...The digital or e-card expires one year from the date the email issued for the e-card. The original gift card does not expire.

Q: When does the promotional gift card expire?

A: Plastic Promotional Gift Cards issued for this promotion expire on December 31, 2014. Digital Promotional Gifts issued for this promotion expire one year from the e-card email date.

So you can buy $5000 worth of gift cards and get $500 free onboard? You can always cash out at the casino where you only lose 3% if you put it on your sail and sign. That leaves you with 7% on $5000 which would still be $350 in free money and 5000 miles on the visa.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong because I'm doing it for sure unless I'm missing something.

I'm wondering the following:

If I purchase $200 (and get $20 free) and apply it to my Sign and Sail account... but don't end up spending the whole amount...

Will they still refund me the balance at the end of the cruise? We also have some OBC, which is why I'm not sure we'd spend it all.

So, I just ordered a 500 dollar e-mail gift card. I checked out and have recieved an e-mail for the 500 dollar card. I have not seen any confirmation or mention of the 50 dollar promotional card... when should I see this? Did I miss something during my order process?

From the Carnival website (I read it twice... because for some reason, I just never completely trust terms and conditions.)

Does anyone know how long it takes to arrive in the mail once you order the regular gift cards? Also, does this promo work if I just order electronic gift cards instead?

Lol, the answers were posted at the same time I was asking my questions. Thanks!

Totally stupid question, I know....

but you can just use these like applying cash @ guest services onboard, yes?

:o

Yes, went to Guest Services while onboard in January and put our gift cards toward our balance.

I am always a day late on things like this... Just spent almost $3,000 paying off our 3 cabins for August yesterday (my free inside cabin, lol)... If I had waited one day and knew about this promotion, I would have bought the gift cards to pay off the cruise. Oh well, maybe next time...
