Hi everyone! I've done a forum search but haven't found a definitive answer on this: are Breitling watches available on board? Specifically the GA. Thanks :)

I haven't looked it up but have you tried reading the Freestyle Dailies from the ship you are about to take.

Often they will list the sales in it...maybe Breitling will be listed !

Have a safe cruise !

I have never seen Breitling available on board. But they are available at Diamonds International. Thank heavens they haven't been available onboard....My DH wants one very, very badly. :D On the Spirit several years ago I got him to settle for a nice Tag.

I don't remember if it was Breitling or Tag that was available. Either way, you are better off buying them from an authorized retailer than onboard the ship. Just my opinion ....

I've seen Breitling watches on board some ships, but I have never seen them on sale.

Sometimes you can negotiate a [small] discount with the store manager.

You will probably get a better deal from a land based authorized retailer. Last week, I saw some decent prices at my local Costco.

I agree with Libra. Of all the great places to shop on land, why are you looking to buy a Breitling on an ordinary cruise ship? Even if you could find one, the prices and selections will likely be very mediocre.

That said, I've never seen a Breitling on any NCL ships shopping venues.

Thanks for all the responses. DH (to be) is a fan and I was just curious. I know they are available on some islands but as you guys have said there are plenty of places on land to buy so I was just wondering about the ship :) thanks!

I definitely recommend doing your research before planning to buy jewelry/watches on a cruise. They TRY to make you think these are terrific bargains but often they are not. Not that it's necessarily a rip-off... just not a bargain.

That is so true. The guy helping us visibly paled when my husband requested a loupe to view a diamond he was looking at lol I can't imagine how many people buy things just because they look nice!

Correct. On a ship it would be more difficult to pop on Google and see the typical pricing on the item. And cruise lines count on that.

I have a reasonable watch collection (mainly Rolex at present bit have owned Breitling and Omega in the past), I'd never buy a premium watch on a ship as deals are better shore based. The Caribbean has always been as good a place price wise as any, though in mainland Europe AD's in Italy seem to negotiate a quite a bit. Breitling, Omega and Tag in the Caribbean will discount heavily. On Oasis of the Seas they've started stocking Hublot which surprised me.

Don't buy your love at first sight !

Wait til later in the cruise when perhaps they might have sale especially on

those cruises that are repositioning.

I looked at a Citizen Eco-Drive watch and beat the cruise ship price by $110

bidding on Ebay !

Beware buying anything if cruising in Asian waters.

The poster that suggested buying direct when in Europe (river cruises) from

a Switzerland dealer is spot on !

My husband is watch obsessed. We were on the Breakaway a few months ago and he says there were no Breitlings on board. I know you should be able to buy them in one of the shops in the port on St. Thomas if you are sailing on the Getaway.

Thanks guys! I'm pretty familiar with them and what the prices should be. So I'm not too worried about getting ripped off, but I appreciate the warnings all the same :)

I am married to your husband's twin brother......

Meet with your ships shopping guide/expert while onboard - get shore discount cards, recommendations, and you can also meet him/her at shops in port

Juvesgirl - there is an AMAZING watch store in town, in St Thomas - I drop hubby of, then I go shop! They have a lot of "special" watches and love to talk shop with the guys. ;)

Never seen Breitlings on a ship

HaHa, good think we are not sailing together or we might never get them to stop talking to each other and enjoy the cruise!

Do you happen to remember the name of the store in town in St. Thomas? We will be stopping there on the Getaway this summer (and I could use some non-watch shopping time!). I only remember the store near the ship, and would love to show him a new place to "talk shop"!

Thanks!!

St Thomas has just about every watch you could want including the largest Rolex shop in the Caribbean. Quite a few islands now have Breitling Boutiques solely selling them and nothing else. When I bought a super avenger with metal strap they had a world wide offer on for a free leather strap at the time - always ask if they have any freebies. My shop didn't tell me, I had to ask as I knew what deals were on. I spend way too much time on watch forums. Google Rolex forums and the US site has sections for specialist watches. Breitling is one - very useful. Also for prices as believe it or not the Caribbean isn't always the cheapest. You will find Breitling on every island nowadays and the discount is nearly always the same. Haggle though as some stores will drop more.

Thanks for all of the great advice. I never would have thought to ask for a promotion going on. Much appreciated!
