I love the casino offers, I am leaving Monday on the Freedom for a 5 days and I paid 148.26 total, I have 3 more cruises booked all compliments of the casino.

Aside from the obvious, how do you qualify for the casino rate? Meaning, how much do you have to donate to said casino to qualify?

Our next cruise us February 2015. We booked it in May 2014 - Early Saver. Eight days on the Sunshine. Deck 8, category 4G interior. Two adults and two children. $3088.96 which includes cruise, taxes, fees, gratuities and insurance. $772.24 per person. I'm really hoping for some price drops. I prefer to keep the price to around $750 per person including on board spending and depending on what the husband drinks can add up fast. I took advantage of the gift card promo and pocketed $150 dollars to pit towards the bill. I will also have airfare, hotel the day before and day after the cruise a rental car the day before and after the cruise and miscellaneous spending in Orlando and each of the ports (we don't do excursions, just the beach and a little shopping).

I applaud all of you who can keep the cost low. We cruised in Feb 2014 on the Dream, 7 day, same category and location, and when it was all said and done with EVERYTHING included (and I mean everything) we spent $6000. I now budget yearly for our cruise.

For comparison, we did a land vacation in Sept 2013 to Hilton Head, SC and with EVERYTHING included (we drove), it only came out to $2500.

I figure will we spend about 50% more than our booking price once all is said and done. That includes excursions, gratuities, impulse buys in the fun shop, some port souvenirs and if we buy food on shore.

Luckily we are only about 200 miles from Galveston, so our travel cost is about $40 for gas and covered parking is $65.

Prior to booking the cruise this year, I priced out a trip to Vegas (flying) that included a side trip to the grand canyon. Admittedly I will always pay up for direct flights when they are available. We were already at $3100 for airfare, full size car and 2-bedroom residence inn hotel. That was 5 nights. Now add in all the food, side trips, etc.

My wife, who would be happy if we never took another cruise, already laid it down that next year we will be going to DC for vacation.

Our last cruise was an 8 day on the Breeze in Oct 2013 and total for 4 in an Inside cabin was $2212 (not including gratuities).

This year we are doing an 8 day on the Sunshine in Dec 2014 and so far with no price drops we are at a total of $2094 for 4 in an Inside cabin (not including gratuities).

I'm always checking for price drops but I am happy with what I booked if we don't get any.:D

You can't put a price on good memories. In 2011 I booked a Grand Suite with an extended balcony on the Carnival Ecstasy for our anniversary.

We got a call offering us an upsell to the Penthouse Suite (also called the Owner's Suite) when the Ecstasy still sailed out of Galveston, TX.

There are only two of these gigantic suites on the ship. We had been on the Ecstasy before and never realized they were there even though you can see the windows when you are at the pool. The cabin measures 916 sq ft and the balcony 110 sq ft.

It was worth every penny to see the look on my wife's face when that door opened on embarkation day! :D

Happy cruising!

Nothing wrong for asking. Don't care to answer, don't....My first cruise back when the ships were sail boats (before computers) I found a TA who did everything, including skinning me. On that cruise I learned from other pax some of the ins and outs and since I have scored some amazing deals. OP you're doing the homework.

8 day Eastern Caribbean on Liberty sailing mid September, booked it back in January. 4G interior room, Verandah deck, 2 people, past guest rate including taxes, fees, port charges and prepaid gratuities 1483.98. No price drops or OBC, as a matter of fact, the price is always about $50 higher on fare viewer & doing a mock booking. Thought it was a good rate until I'm reading some of these posts. Looks like I'm going to have to spend more time & money in the casino!

$1,260.74 total (including taxes, fees, and prepaid gratuities) for 2 people on an 8 day cruise aboard the Liberty, inside cabin on the Upper Deck (category 4D), at the end of August. This was a Casino Rate offer that we booked last week. I get $40 casino cash and hubby gets $25. :)

We have a Lido balcony (8E) on the Conquest for April 2015 8 night Eastern. 1234pp early saver rate, not including taxes or gratuities and the price hasn't changed since we booked in April. I'm happy with what we paid and enjoy checking daily to see if it changes.

It really helps to see how much others pay for different category cabins. Someone saying they received price drop of X is meaningless without knowing the cabin class and final price with taxes.

I (wife & I) just recently booked 7 day Glory for July...St.Thomas, SanJuan,Grand Turk,HMC...2nd floor/main deck 1A cabin with portholes $1184.80 tx.incl.,

I do get $100 shareholder OBC...no price drops

If I like this cabin I might try it again, it is usually available

Also I booked early saver during our last cruise...Conquest , 7day for Nov...Cozumel,Grand Cayman,Roatan, Belize...got 4A, promotion at the time allowed upgrade to Lido deck...$1085.52 tx.incl.

Got $100 OBC because I booked while on a cruise, and will get shareholder $100 OBC. No price drops yet

I think this kind of information helps us all be better consumers

Have a great day

As long as the person booking feels comfortable with the price that they pay that is most important..

I paid 339 pp for inside guarantee we travel with a child that is partially wheelchair bound so special needs always calls by end of week to assign room

we are doing a b2b so wanted same cabin for both weeks

ended up 1284.51 for 3 inside (port window) spa cabin

so for 14 days on carnival dream spa cabin inside 2569.02

the look on my child's face when he see's we will be on a cruise for his 16th b day PRICELESS

All I can say is don't go through the casinos promo's. I pay more. Right now my August cruise is $504. pp for ocean view at expedia or carnival.com. I paid $614 pp. Prices given are without fees/taxes/tip.

I chose a room close to the back elevators so I can get to the stuff I like to do easy.

When I called carnival again about the price drop it's always been the same till last week. You booked a casino promo and they have different rates and you were given upgrades when you booked. I am sorry. This time I was given an upgrade and it was to the main floor and center of ship. After I got off the phone I was like dang! I was happier with my old room. ;) Moral to this - I will not be booking a casino rate again. I will book last minute and hope for a cheapo last minute travel deal. LOL

I have already booked my 8 day, Nov 15th cruise on the Carnival Liberty, but have only paid half as a deposit so far. I got the last interior 4J (obstructed view fwd) on deck 7 (Empress). Total price including taxes and port fees is $1218, which I though was a good deal when compared to my last few cruises (better cabin, longer cruise at about the same price).

How do I check to see if they have dropped the price?

If I find that they have dropped the price, what happens then? do I get a credit or something?

This is the first time I have booked early. I usually don't book until 2-3 months ahead because of work.

To me, the price drop threads don't need to contain the actual price. Just the fact that the original poster saved money makes me happy for them. I'm booking based on my own wallet and room preferences. That said, here's my info:

Booked a 6K quad about 70 days out (after having to switch sailing dates and ships) for $3002. Final price after two price drops was $2243 including taxes & port fees - not gratuities. Got insurance on our own for just about $120. Super excited to have gotten that cabin at that price in the Summer for an 8-night sailing!

We booked about a week and a half ago for the 7 day Eastern on the Glory sailing 7/12. We bought the balcony guarantee - and our stateroom has been assigned as an 8E on the Lido deck. We paid $629 per (w/o taxes & gratuity). First time we've ever done a guarantee and I would have taken whatever we got - but I'm thrilled with the stateroom assignment.

I went on my first solo cruise, an 8-nighter on the Sunshine, in May. I paid $440 (including taxes and port fees) for an inside room. They were offering some great deals, without the solo supplement, in May.

I also book based on my wallet, but I might pay a little more for convenience.

Sailing out of NY and living here I will spend absolutely nothing to get on the ship - so I might spend a little more to get a higher level cabin or do an excursion that is a little more. These would be things that I might not do if I was flying in.

We are going to be on the same sailing as yourself. Really looking forward to the trip now.

Stop by our Roll Call, it's a very small group...you'd certainly be welcome

Have a great cruise

There's a carnival fare viewer, but I always Mock book the cabin next to me. The fare viewer is located here http://www.carnival.com/BookingEngine/FareViewer/

I do the mock booking, because it seems the fare viewer will not show an OBC sale, but I call in if the fare is the same, but they are offering free OBC.
