laneyliz Posted June 29, 2014 #1 Share Posted June 29, 2014 I can't decide which dress to buy for formal night! Dress 1: http://www.whitehouseblackmarket.com/store/browse/product.jsp?productId=570102294&prd=Sleeveless%20OvertheShoulder%20Instantly%20Slimming%20Dress I would style it with a pearl necklace and bracelet, very classic. Dress 2 (can't decide if it is too casual): http://www.whitehouseblackmarket.com/store/browse/product.jsp?productId=570102243&prd=Lace%20Fit%20%20Flare%20Dress Dress 3 (love it, but would probably never wear it again, except maybe for a future cruise) http://www.whitehouseblackmarket.com/store/browse/product.jsp?productId=570104236&prd=Strapless%20Sweetheart%20Gown Any opinions? Sailor_Sally Posted June 29, 2014 #4 Share Posted June 29, 2014 Go with the instantly slimming dress . They are unbelievable . No need for spanx as it is built in . I sell on ebay & deal with a lot of WHBM dresses and these are the best . You will look fantastic in that dress .
alibabacruisers Posted June 29, 2014 #5 Share Posted June 29, 2014 (edited) I think #1 is a classic and is very pretty. #2 for formal night would depend on the cruiseline and as I haven't been on RCI I will have to let others comment. #3 is very elegant and a pretty color and would be a nice dress to keep for future cruises or other events. jayne62 Posted June 29, 2014 #6 Share Posted June 29, 2014 (edited) I would go for both 1 & 3, 1 is so versatile, classic and very flattering, 3 is a really lovely dress for formal occasions, even if you only get to wear it on cruises, really lovely choices. RedHeadTexan Posted June 29, 2014 #8 Share Posted June 29, 2014 1 or 3 would be fine for Royal. My personal preference is the first dress because you can dress it up with accessories. Lisa
NCteacherlovescruising Posted June 29, 2014 #9 Share Posted June 29, 2014 (edited) This is one of my favorite stores! I wore an instantly slimming dress from there on our last cruise. I was able to dress it up for the cruise and can also wear it other places. I would go with that one. P.S. I'm wearing a dress from there in this pic, but it's not one of instantly slimming ones. I love their dresses! Edited June 29, 2014 by TJV123
Rare Scrapnana Posted June 29, 2014 #10 Share Posted June 29, 2014 (edited) If you want to get the most for your money, go with #1. A LBD can be dressed up in so many ways or worn simply as is. Edited June 29, 2014 by Scrapnana
Ehpride Posted June 29, 2014 #11 Share Posted June 29, 2014 I love 2 and 3. I rarely wear black so for me, a lbd doesn't hold much appeal. If you wear black and would get use out of the first, then go with that one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Rare OzKiwiJJ Posted June 29, 2014 #12 Share Posted June 29, 2014 1 if you want a short classic LBD 3 if you want a long dress They are both gorgeous. Personally I'd pick 3 as I think long dresses are more glamorous, and I love the colour.
calliopecruiser Posted June 29, 2014 #13 Share Posted June 29, 2014 The first - it's a classic, and a great, simple shape.
cruisinnancy Posted June 29, 2014 #14 Share Posted June 29, 2014 I'd go with number one. :)
cb at sea Posted June 29, 2014 #15 Share Posted June 29, 2014 If you really want to "go formal", pick the gown. Otherwise, pick the 1st dress....dress 2 is too casual.
jjtimes2 Posted June 29, 2014 #16 Share Posted June 29, 2014 I love #2 and #3. I don't think #2 is too casual for RCI at all. #3 is very pretty and I love a classic gown. On our last RCI cruise, I wore a floor length gown on first formal night and a cocktail dress a little more casual than your #2 on second night and I was not at all out of place either night. I've never tried the instantly slimming dress, but unless you need "slimming," I can't imagine #1 would be comfortable. If "slimming" is an issue for your body type, I say go with an A-line style and still look great but be comfortable.

Yoshikitty Posted June 29, 2014 #19 Share Posted June 29, 2014 If I were as tall as you do, I would definitely pick dress 3! But dress 1 is very elegant, too! You will have more chance to wear it. Dress 2 looks good but I think it's more for a nice summer party.
mousey Posted June 29, 2014 #20 Share Posted June 29, 2014 I love all three dresses but my choice would be #1. I love that's it's so sophisticated and sexy!;):D

laneyliz Posted June 30, 2014 Author #22 Share Posted June 30, 2014 Thank you everyone! I went with #1. I think it will be more versatile. You can't go wrong with a LBD!
Nebr.cruiser Posted June 30, 2014 #23 Share Posted June 30, 2014 I love the style of # 3, so if it fit my body type (I don't think it would), that would be my choice. The LBD is always classy and versatile--I have one very similar to that. I also like #2 and don't think it's too casual; it is pretty young though--but then I am talking from a 69 year old perspective.
gonecroozin Posted June 30, 2014 #24 Share Posted June 30, 2014 Thank you everyone! I went with #1. I think it will be more versatile. You can't go wrong with a LBD! I think you made the right decision. Its a classic, and will never go out of style. As you say, you cant go wrong with an LBD.
