TennisFL Posted June 30, 2014 #1 Share Posted June 30, 2014 We are interested in walking from International pier to an all inclusive day pass report. We have read about El Cid, with some good reviews and some not so great. Any other recommendations? and any recommendations as to the best way to book? (while we appreciate kindness in other driving suggestions, the walking thing is a must - getting into a taxi or other vehicle is a deal - breaker). Thanks! Rare skittl1321 Posted June 30, 2014 #2 Share Posted June 30, 2014 (edited) If you have to walk, El Cid or Park Royal are your best bets. It is only a few minute walk, but the roads are kinda busy. Park Royal is slightly further. Most of the other all-inclusive resorts and beaches are a long ways from the pier. You used to be able to buy day passes to either in the lobby on the day. Beware of timeshare agents especially at Park Royal. An email to reservations should able to confirm price and availability although I have not had much success recently with emails to Park Royal. Depending on how far you want, and are able, to walk, another option would be Hotel Cozumel and Resort about 2 miles walk each way towards town. They also used to offer day passes for sale in lobby. Further still you have Cozumel Palace. None of the resorts offer good beaches but they do all have loungers on a sandy area.
mccbeh Posted July 6, 2014 #6 Share Posted July 6, 2014 We saw the Park Royal "beach" from the ship...it is not really a beach, just an artificial platform with sand??
Rare skittl1321 Posted July 7, 2014 #7 Share Posted July 7, 2014 (edited) We saw the Park Royal "beach" from the ship...it is not really a beach, just an artificial platform with sand?? Yes. Same with El Cid, and Cozumel Palace, and Money Bar, all those places along the west side. The middle of the west side of the island doesn't have beaches really. You need to go further south or to the east side. (I think the north may have them too, but I haven't been there.) There is no all inclusive beach within walking distance of the International pier. (Unless you take the "with enough time, anything is walking distance" approach) Edited July 7, 2014 by skittl1321
Vanilla Posted July 10, 2014 #8 Share Posted July 10, 2014 We booked Cozumel Palace through Resorts For A Day, 6 minute taxi ride from International Pier. 5 stars from us. ( only thing is no sand beach - they have a walk way that leads into the water - but you never want to leave their pool area because it's so beautiful. They do have an area on the property that about 50 beach chairs set in and are in a sandy area...just gotta walk down well built wide steps to get in the ocean instead of walking in from sandy beach. We saw the other two places, El CID and Park Royal ( about two minutes closer to the ship), but they looked like a Motel 6 in comparison. Glad we chose the Palace. They are safe so is renting a car.
