My aunt is getting married next year in Bermuda. They have decided to do a cruise and there is a group of 20+ going. My parents have decided they want their kids and grand kids to be there and go. So, as excited as I am I am nervous about taking my then almost 3 year old and 1.5 year old. I have cruised several times before but never on celebrity and never with my kids. We will be only going to Bermuda. I would love to just hear what people's thoughts or advice is on taking his trip. I have never been to the Bermuda port is there things to do right around the port? Are there things to do on the ship for the kids. I know they can't go in the pool unless potty gained so I'm a little worried. Any thoughts, tips, advice input would be appreciated. Thank you!

Bermuda is a great destination and there are fun things to do with kids. There are lovely beaches, which can be reached easily by taxi. There is the ferry that goes back and forth to Hamilton- which the kids will enjoy riding on. There was a steel drum band on there the last time I went.

The Zoo and Aquarium is near Hamilton and you can just taxi there when you get off the ferry. It's a great place for the whole family and we enjoyed it a lot.

There is a dolphin encounter at the end of the pier where the ship docks. The entrance fee is $10 and you can go and see the dolphins. They are very playful and the kids will enjoy this.

Would I take two kids under three? Depends on what your expectations are for the cruise. If the family is willing to pitch in and help with the kids during the day- then it will be more enjoyable for you. Otherwise, it is limiting because you can't sit and play games, lounge by the pool or enjoy the hot tubs with kids in tow. If others will watch them here and there so that you can have some relaxation- then take them.

There is in cabin babysitting at night and I highly recommend going to guest services on day one and arranging for this. We used it two nights of our cruise and it was great. They are available from 8PM on for $19 per hour but it is "subject to availability"- so don't wait until all the spots are filled up.

You could also try RCI Liberty of The Seas - she will be doing 5 day trips to Bermuda next summer out of NJ. She has baby splash zone for non-potty trained kids and nursery for under 3 (for fee).

I'm sure the whole point of cruising Celebrity is because it's a family wedding....and that's the ship they're using!!!

This is true. Also, There will be some family there willing to help but mostly just my parents.

Recently went on the Summit to Bermuda with our 14-month old. It was fantastic! I have been to Bermuda three times on Explorer and this was way better in my opinion. The three full days is great and Bermuda is super easy with little ones (esp compared to carib itineraries) due to the great ferries and bus service. We didn't need a blow up pool but did have a room with a tub. My son also enjoys showering so it wouldn't have mattered. They had a pack and play set up upon arrival. We just brought a sheet. They also at our request brought a high chair to the room. My son loved the little gelato place and ate plenty of food of the MDR menu. The crew also gave him a ton of attention. If you have any more specific questions I am happy to answer.

  • 2 weeks later...

We sailed on the Summit to Bermuda when our son was 14 months and loved it so much that we did the same cruise the following year. The staff was terrific with him. The ship doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles for young children, but he still had a blast. The first year, we took a small blow up pool for that he used a few times. We had a connecting room with my parents which made things easier, plus the balcony was crucial for nap time. My son still talks about drinking oj on the balcony each morning, two years later.

Bermuda was great, especially since we were there for such a long time. We did the zoo/aquarium and Horseshoe Bay. The ferry was fun for him, as well.

Have a great time!
