Regal or Royal Stammtisch?

Does anyone know if the Regal and the Royal offer the Stammtisch in Vines? Thanks.

We did the Stammtisch four times on our Royal cruise last year. The only problem was the audio. The noise level coming from the Atrium drowned out our host, Ronnie. The larger piazza/atrium is beautiful but very poor acoustics. The Stammtisch featuring champagne and chocolates was delicious :) We also did white, red and European wines. Love going to the Vines on all our cruises!

Stammtisch? What is that?

On ships that have Vines, its a wine tasting....

A Stammtisch (German: "regulars’ table",[1] ˈʃtamtɪʃ ) is an informal group meeting held on a regular basis, and also the usually large, often round table around which the group meets. A Stammtisch is not a structured meeting, but rather a friendly get-together.

Traditionally, the meeting table is marked with a somewhat elaborate sign reserving it for regulars. Historically, such a meeting might involve socialising, card playing (such as skat), and often political or philosophical discussions. The words „Stammtischpolitik“ (Stammtisch politics) and „Stammtischniveau“ (Stammtisch level), describe the simplified nature of Stammtisch discussions, and have an established metaphorical usage in describing simplified political and social discussions beyond the Stammtisch itself.[2]

On the table is a small wine barrel with brass bands around it.

Stammtisch on princess ships is a small gathering (10 -12) of people for wine tasting hosted by a staff member at the bar Vines. Everyone sits around a long table (a small wine barrel with the name Stammtisch is on it) and usually three wines are tasted with an explanation of each wines origin, flavor, etc. Some type of tapas is served. I think it was $20 or under to join. You have to sign up in advance. It is limited seats and only a few times during the cruise. We frequent Vines so we just ask when they are scheduled and sign up if interested. Sign up for one at a time.

The Stammtisch champagne tasting had Godiva chocolate :)

If the timing of the stammtisch isn't good, doing wine flights at the Vines is also great. (Anytime) All wines served at the Vines is accompanied with tapas or sushi.

We have had very knowledgeable bar staff teaching us about wines and have met very nice fellow cruisers in the process.

No tapas or sushi at Vines on the Grand or Sapphire (Alfredo's Pizzeria occupies the food prep area) but Sabatini's Bites" are offered at the Stammtisch Table.

Thanks for the heads up. I know the Emerald, Golden and Royal served some tapas in the past two years. Any idea about the Caribbean Princess. I'm considered a "cheap" drunk. Without some type of food, I rock and roll even when the ship is in port :)

The only issue is on the Grand and Sapphire where Alfredo's Pizzeria is located where Vines is on other ships. The smaller Vines on those two ships have no food prep area. Just go over to the IC and pick up some goodies to each while drinking your wine at Vines :)

IMHO the Stammtisch is one of the great Princess secrets. We have done this several times and stopping at Vines to sign up is one of our first stops after we get on the ship. On the Ruby in February, we were told that Princess has done away with sommeliers on most of their ships, but we learned more from our wine host, Alan, than on most wine tastings we have been to. It is more informal and the small size makes it easy to make new friends. In fact almost everyone that signed up for the "Old World Tasting" showed up for the "New World" just because we had such a great time.
