As promised when I posted my excitement at receiving and accepting our up-sell offer to the Pinnacle (Penthouse) Suite on our Oosterdam cruise, I have come back to offer a quick review. Bottom line: it was everything we dreamed of AND MORE! From the moment we check in (delayed due to our coach from Denali being stuck in traffic and being one of 3 coaches stopped at the same rest area) we were treated like royalty. We were personally escorted on board and were met there and escorted to Pinnacle Suite 7045 where we were given a complete tour with explanations of the light switches, stereo system and electronic controls for the drapes. It seemed that every crew member that we encountered called us by name. One day we had lunch in the Vista Dining Room and arrived about 15 minutes before the lunch service ended and they were very apologetic that they were unable to seat us at a window table. We assured them that it wasn't a big deal to us! Other special touches were having hot hor dourves delivered to the suite for the two of us and having the waiter clear the dining room table and set it with a white tablecloth and fine china for our personal happy hour. I will be glad to answer any specific questions and will be posting a review of the entire land/sea adventure soon.

Thank you for sharing your pics of the suite. DH will love that chair, because it looks like it reclines.

Which ship sails in the Caribbean in 2015 with a suite that has a recliner like this one? I, also, need an itinerary that includes several ports with golfing.

I believe all the Pinnacle (Penthouse) suites have comparable furnishings and all HAL ships have at least one such suite. Warning about that chair though, it does recline and is nap inducing!

When we first sailed in the PS's on the Westerdam, both of them had the recliners.

But when we sailed in the PD on her in 2013 -- gone.

None on the Nieuw Amsterdam.

We were in the PS (7045) on three cruises on the Oosterdam, and we never were given a tour of the cabin. It took two days to figure out the bank of light buttons in the rooms, along with all the controls on the massive tub.

On our first cruise, music was playing in the background in all the rooms as well as the verandah. In May, we tried everything to get the music on before calling the steward. He informed us we had to plug in an iPod in the stand for the music to be played throughout the system. I told him we don't have an iPod and never had to have one plugged in on the previous cruises. Some other "engineer" showed up the next day, and said basically the same thing. We just let it go as we love the cabin, music or no music.

We had the music from the TV playing on the stereo system as well as the TV sound when our Tampa Bay Rays games were playing on ESPN which happened twice that week. I can't imagine figuring out all the "bells and whistles" without that welcome to the penthouse tutorial!

Those photos sent to HALfacts will soon be published, but to date we have received only 8 photos (of the 15 mentioned.)

Just sent 3 more emails adding 7 more photos. I must have been interrupted early at work when I sent the original ones.

Usually there is a binder in the PS that tells how to work everything. It is always the first thing our cabin steward points out. It comes in handy trying to figure out all the lights.

No problem, we have them all now. Glad you had such a nice cruise!

I have two questions. In the bathroom, is there a tub only? Or is there a tub and a separate shower stall?

There is a shower too (see picture here). It required some explanation as it has many "bells and whistles" including a white soft box sitting on the floor (about 12" x 9") which we learned is the "foot shower"...who knew?

There is a separate shower stall with a round sliding glass door.

Below is a link to about 57 pictures of the PH (7045) on the Zuiderdam, which is very similar. The pictures were from May 2013 and nothing changed when we were in the same cabin in May. There are pictures of both bathrooms.

A foot shower? How nice is that!

Thanks so much for posting your pictures and remarks.

I wonder how HAL determines who to offer the upsells to? Were you celebrating a special occasion?

No special occasion however I let my travel agent know early on we were interested and when I checked a few weeks out and saw one of the PS was unsold I called HAL myself and reminded them I was open to an up-sell. A few days later my agent emailed me the offer. I have no idea if my call was influential or if it was just happenstance!
