Benefits of JS?

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I am about 1.5 weeks away from my Alaska cruise on Rhapsody and can't wait! I was wondering if anyone can tell me the benefits of the JS other than larger room and balcony since it doesn't appear that you can take advantage of regular suite benefits (early check-in, lounge, etc.). Also, do they charge you the $12 pp per day fee or is it the $14.25 suite rate? Thanks all, getting more and more excited!!!!

The gratuities in a Junior Suite are $12 pp pd.

You will have a bathtub in your bathroom instead of just a shower. You will thus not be attacked by the Shower Curtain Monster.

There will be a coffee/tea maker in the cabin.

With a JS you can use the "Suite" Check-In line as your SetSail Pass will say "Suite" at the top of the page.

Ours was so big I could have slept in it

As max'smom/Jane wrote, Rhapsody does not have the walk-in closet.

But I agree that on ships that have 'em.................they are BIG. I have said several times that I think that they may have as much floor space as an interior on Sovereign/Monarch/Majesty! ;)

LOL!! That's for sure! I swear we have had cabins that were the size of those walk-in closets. Only one of us could be up out of the bed at a time. :D

We did a JS on Rhapsody in May in Alaska. We had the aft corner balcony, fantastic! HUGE balcony. But to answer your question, you get more room (worth it in my opinion). NO WALK IN CLOSET. But bigger bathroom, bathtub.

Still $12 per day for tips. It's really more of a large balcony cabin instead of suite as you don't get some suite perks. But you do get priority boarding. Didn't seem to help much in Seattle, but they may have worked that out now. Balcony is bigger which is also nice. If you are on the side (not aft), enjoy the view. Obviously aft is way better for views and size of balcony.

I heard that the corner aft cabins on Vision class (Grandeur for example) have the walk in closet. Is this not true?

Gwen :)

Very few JS staterooms on Vision class have a walk-in closet. I know that 7666 and 7166 on Enchantment (and probably Grandeur) have walk-in closets. Those ships are twins, at least the portions other than the stretch part on Enchantment.

If our daughter sails with us, we always book a JS for the added room. (We absolutely love the huge walk in closet.) However, if it's just my DH and I, we save the money and just book a balcony. We're diamond so we still get a lot of the perks so I'll save the mone for the casino :>)

Both corner aft JS on the Grandeur have a walk in closet. They are the only JS on Grandeur that have the walk in closet. Love it!

Those are on Deck 7 on the Grandeur, just so that everyone knows.

On Deck 8, the corner aft cabins are RFS.
