BillB48 Posted July 20, 2014 #1 Share Posted July 20, 2014 Can't believe how hard this news is to find... thought it would be showcased with more fanfare. Anyway very interesting news and can't wait to see some more pictures or even some video. The installations of the new gate is taking place at the Aguaclara Locks which is on the Atlantic side. The first two pictures are from Panama's channel 2 (TVN-2) and the third picture is from the Atlantic Expansion Cam. Also at the end of the post will be a link to TVN-2. http://www.tvn-2.com/Noticias/Paginas/Comienza-instalacion-de-compuertas-en-ampliacion-del-Canal-.aspx

BillB48 Posted July 31, 2014 Author #8 Share Posted July 31, 2014 Still busy playing musical gates... a second gate has been moved to the middle level. That makes 4 of the required number of 8 gates that have been moved into the lock complex.
Richard in Panama Posted July 31, 2014 #9 Share Posted July 31, 2014 Just by way of comparison as we approach the 100th Anniversary ... That last pic is of a William Van Ingen charcoal sketch that's in the Panama Canal Headquarters Building. Van Ingen visited Panama several times, made these sketches, then went back to his studios in New York City to paint the murals that are in the rotunda of the Panama Canal Headquarters Building. Obviously, they didn't have OSHA back then! Regards, Richard
BillB48 Posted October 25, 2014 Author #10 Share Posted October 25, 2014 Gates are on the move again... this time to the Pacific side. The first pic is one of the new gates on a barge leaving the lower level of Miraflores Locks. The next picture is of the gate just having cleared Miraflores Locks, in the Pacific channel. Headed towards Balboa with the Bridge of the Americas in the background.
