Can I bring a few tiny bottles of various alcohol?

Thanks all. I'll just go ahead with it, but will only take two tiny bottles, two bucks loss is not a big deal if confiscated. As I never check my carry on nether on the plane nor the ship, I'll just put it in my zip lock bag with other small liquid items.

To the person SILVERcrikhis whose post is right above this one, who wrote this "It baffles me that people would go to such tactics while on vacation

If it's money, well, perhaps they can't afford this type of vacation anyway if they can't pay for their drinks. ".

I have this to tell you. I am a very very slow drinker. I can get a shot of lacquer and drink it for days. I leave it in my room and then it does not feel very fresh on day 3, especially with an open glass shot, I mean I know alcohol will not go bad but still. I prefer having a closed container, so bringing a two tiny bottles would be perfect. And I have no desire to buy a shot of liquor every day , have a sip and throw it all away and do the same thing the next day. Got it?

Have a great time...:). Like your style. I took a quite few small bottles on my first Carnival cruise in 2009 in checked bag and came home with quite a few (all with no problem) as I drink less and less too..just does not settle..but like little nips in coffee and alone too when on vacation. Second trip I went the legal wine way and had 2 bottles, one I brought, and one free one first night at steakhouse..while I love wine..it is harder on me now..Mid fifties and just guess the stomach gets too sensitive as time rolls along..

I think you will be fine and then buy a little one for your purposes at first port it is easy to.

Well to each his own I guess :)

But I didn't mean hard liquor, like cognac or whisky. I like sweet stuff like Frangelico, Kahlua

Not sure if you knew, but if they confiscate alcohol that is still in its' original container they will return it to you at the end of the cruise. So bring as many as you want, they will either find them and hold them till the end of the cruise or they wont and you will be able to enjoy it on your trip. No risk. Go for it.

Copied directly from Carnivals website: Contract of carriage to which all passengers agree to abide when purchasing a ticket.

Section 4 (f). (Start at the section beginning with Alcoholic beverages..... "Any guest traveling with such items, may be denied boarding or disembarked and no refund of the cruise fare will be issued." I think there is much to risk losing if you become the one guest the cruiseline decides to make an example of...or you board the day the cruise line decides to get fed up with people thinking the "terms and conditions" of their ticket contract are a joke !

I can't believe this conversations still goes on - if the cruise line limits or forbids sneaking booze on board why would you risk being that one passenger where they draw the line.....do you really think all the cruise lines aren't reading these boards? If you can afford a cruise then you can afford $100 for a few drinks!

Section 4 (f) Carnival Cruise Lines Contract of Carriage: taken directly from the official website

(f) Weapons, firearms, contraband, ammunition, explosives, incendiary devices, or other dangerous items are strictly prohibited aboard the vessel. Carnival reserves the right to confiscate, destroy and/or turn over to authorities these or any other items it deems in its sole discretion to be detrimental to the safety or comfort of any person or which are otherwise improperly in the possession of any Guest. Each Guest warrants that no such articles are contained in any receptacle or container carried or presented as baggage. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited except as provided for in clause 8(f). All Guests agree Carnival has, at all times with or without notice, the right to search Guest’s baggage and/or personal effects for any of the prohibited items, at any location, to ensure compliance with these restrictions. Any Guest who refuses any such search or screening, or any Guest traveling with such items, may be denied boarding or disembarked and no refund of the cruise fare will be issued. The Guest will be solely responsible for any and all damage and/or loss caused by his violation of this policy.

Section 8 (f) if interested:

(f) Except as noted below, Guests are prohibited from bringing alcohol on Carnival’s vessels for on board consumption. However, at the beginning of the cruise during embarkation day only, guests 21 years and older may bring one bottle of wine or champagne per person on board only in their carry-on luggage. A $15 USD corkage fee per 750ml bottle will be charged should guests wish to consume this wine/champagne in the dining room or in the Steakhouse. All alcohol, additional quantities of wine/champagne and excessive non-alcoholic beverages will be confiscated and discarded without compensation. Alcoholic beverages purchased in the vessel’s gift shops or at a port of call will be retained by Carnival until the end of the voyage. Carnival reserves the right to refuse to serve alcohol to any passenger. Guest acknowledges that the minimum age permitted for the purchase, possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages aboard Carnival’s vessels is twenty-one (21). Guest agrees to supervise all persons under age twenty-one (21) under Guest’s charge to insure that they do not violate this, or any other, shipboard regulation. Guests who attempt to purchase alcohol by using false identification or the Sail & Sign card of a Guest who is twenty-one or older will be deemed in violation of this policy. Any Guest twenty-one or older who attempts to or purchases alcohol for any guest under twenty-one will also be deemed in violation of this policy. Guest agrees that Carnival has the right to disembark any guest who violates this policy and as well as any adults traveling with minors who violate this policy or any other shipboard regulation.

Never ever mess with a NY lady. Especially a NY lady who comes from Brooklyn. NY ladies have the right attitude and the right answers. Take it from this guy who grew up in da Bronx.

I'll miss ya by a few weeks on the Conquest, CruiseeLady. I sail Oct 12.

I didn't read through all the posts so this is probably a repeat, but here is what I did.

I had like 20 mini bottles (plastic of course) and just scattered all over. My computer bag, myself, checked baggage, just everywhere. As others have mentioned I went through the airport like this as well because they were under the 3 ounces. Everything made it through to the ship.

Now the IMPORTANT part :D In ports I would get the mini bottles if they had them or 200ml bottles, again plastic of course. Never had a problem at all and one bottle I just put right through the scanner in the paper bag they gave me! The problem I ran into was our last stop where they only had the larger bottles. The scanner picked up all 3 of those :( however I did a really creative spur of the moment "switch" after they caught them and was able to take 2 up to my room with me, but I'm keeping those details to myself for now :D

Long story short, smaller seems better!

Yes, very aware....... along with probably the Government, my spouse, the 20 year old next door neighbor techy kids that hacked into my secure Internet, Russia and possibly my dog. The point is, yeah, we know that, but what has really changed??? Did they suddenly stop all the ships that were supposed to leave this morning because of it and install new state of the art "everything" detectors? Besides, they are probably ringing up the dollar signs because of the percentage of people that will spend MORE in the casino or buy that silly picture with more of a buzz going on. They know what they are doing from a financial standpoint. Marketing and buying statistics can be quite useful! It's most likely in the contract for liability issues, think about it.

Wow...who knew this was going to be such a hot topic?

It does seem to be a bit of a crapshoot when it comes to bringing booze back onto the ship after buying it in a port. We have gotten back on in some ports where they have a table with all the confiscated bottles on it and others where they don't even pay attention. We once bought a liter of rum in Belize and stuck it in our beach bag and no one was really watching the scanner so off we went.

Good idea about buying the tiny bottles and packing them with your bath stuff. I have several little travel bottles i got from Target and will fill them with rum this time and pack them with the bath stuff and see what happens. I figure hubby and I both carry separate bath stuff anyway so it might work. I notice that they are more interested in getting everyone onboard fast rather than checking every single bag that closely.

And about that money thing... some of us figure that we'll be spending plenty on the ship on other things such as umbrella drinks, the casino, shore excursions, etc and figure we can save some money by bringing our own inexpensive wine without paying a corkage fee. Most cruise lines are more concerned about profit and that is probably a huge reason why they limit what you can bring. Carnival is actually one of the generous ones in letting you bring two bottles of wine. other cruise lines hit you with a corkage fee just for bringing wine onboard just to discourage people from doing it - either way they get something from you.

Incidentally, we do always carry the allotted 2 bottles of wine. they don't even ask to see them. I say go for it cruiseelady!

Yes, you can get kicked off of ships and message boards for LOTS of things :D

Have a great day!

Just making sure "new cruisers" understand EXACTLY what the contract they have agreed to says and the possible consequences .....

LOL! That doesn't stop anyone from bringing their choice of drink on board - however they choose to do it. I'm sure that the Carnival folks reading here are LTAO at some of the things said. I know I do and your remark was one of them.

I do know for sure that if I drank of shot of lacquer it would probably kill me. :D

As already mentioned, these will be confiscated from you upon boarding the ship; you are only allowed to carry on wine.

As for the airport, as long as you obey the 3-1-1 rule (liquids in containers no larger than 3.4 oz/100mL, all in one quart-sized zip-top bag, one bag per passenger), you can carry them on the plane. But again, you'll have to drink them while on the plane, because you can't take them on your cruise.

You couldn't even drink them on the plane. You can only drink alcohol purchased from the airline.

Hahahaha, I know this is a cruise forum, but shall I spill some of my airline tips as well??? :D

Let's just say when you have the "mini's" stashed all over yourself and your carry-ons, um, it ain't too difficult to dump a couple in that free diet coke you get on your flight, and many other options/possibilities as well ;)
