Can I bring a few tiny bottles of various alcohol?

I was wondering if they would allow instead of bottle of wine, 3 or 4 tiny bottles(1.7oz) of various alcoholic drinks? I am flying from NY to Miami and taking a carry on, and then a shuttle to the port and cant as well as don't want to bring a whole bottle of wine.

I am not even sure if they are allowed in the airport even though they are 1.7 oz. Has anyone ever done this before?

You could try and smuggle them in your cosmetics case as they might look like nail polish...just a thought.

As already mentioned, these will be confiscated from you upon boarding the ship; you are only allowed to carry on wine.

As for the airport, as long as you obey the 3-1-1 rule (liquids in containers no larger than 3.4 oz/100mL, all in one quart-sized zip-top bag, one bag per passenger), you can carry them on the plane. But again, you'll have to drink them while on the plane, because you can't take them on your cruise.

I am just going to do and see how it goes, but will just get 1 or two of the 1.7 oz bottles and put it together with my other(less then 3 .4 oz) liquid items in a zip lock bag. If confiscated , then no big deal, just a loss of two bucks.

Plastic bottles & caps + cargo shorts may work!

Sure folks have tried and succeeded quite well. There is a smuggling thread right now that you could read.

Basically, if you have the bottles in your carry on, they will be taken as your carry on will be scanned before you can get on the ship. Your other luggage will go through a scanner that someone may or may not be watching. So, it is a crap shoot whether your mini bottles will make it through.

So, check out the smuggling thread to see what the best ideas are. Don't let the ones that will come on here and preach about no smuggling bother you. If you want to try it, you have nothing to lose but your liquor! :D

The only thing I can add is that when on an excursion in Jamaica to a rum factory, we were given small bottles of rum. I tossed mine and the husbands in my purse and forgot about them. My purse was scanned prior to boarding and no one said a thing.

My two SIL's while in Cozumel purchased some of these tiny bottles, put them in their purses and on to the ship.

I think carry on's at the origination port are scrutinized a little closer.

I guess I am just saying you can likely get some tiny bottles while in port.

Enter "alcohol smuggling" into the search function and sit back and enjoy. Literally thousands of discussions of how people have done it. But yes, you would have to "smuggle". Carnival does not allow you to board with alcohol.

Actually you are wrong Carnival definitely allows you to board with

alcohol but it has to be either Champagne or Wine. You can even board with sodas and water but only with carry on. I don't remember exactly how much I think twelve cases of soda.

So bottom line is, no one has actually tried doing it, but everyone's guess is that if found it will be confiscated. But I am actually looking for replies from someone who in fact did it and how it went.

Let's just say that someone very close to me, someone I know quite well, does this every cruise just to have a little something in the room for a nightcap. This person puts them in the bag with their shampoo, face cream etc. They only cost a few bucks, so if they get taken - no great loss.;)

I had a few that I had left in my "girl stuff" from a previous adventure (they were in with my curlers, hair spray, make up, mini shampoo and conditioners, body lotion, etc) and they made it through without issue (not that I meant to take them and because I earned the casino card on the morning of day 2 on the cruise and had some pre-paid drink tickets I never touched them, but they did make it through in my checked luggage.

Yep, we did this our last cruise. I bought some miniatures of rum and vodka, the ones for a buck each. I wanted to see if I could add a little extra to my highly -expensive but- under- alcoholed ships drinks. Here's what I did and it worked fine...I have travel sized plastic bottles that go in my toiletries case, which I use for mouthwash and stuff. I just emptied the liquor into these plastic bottles, and put them with my toiletries. It's no great loss if they're confiscated, I wasn't out much money. But it went through no problem at all.

Correct. And I was referring to hard liquor.

It appears that when you get greedy you get caught. Someone will tell you they smuggled on a case of Bourbon and a keg of beer, but take that with a grain of salt. As in many things moderation is the key. A mini-bottle here, a small flask there and you may get through. I did it on NCL with Rum Runners in my pocket because they were so miserable about allowing you to take on a bottle of wine without a corkage charge.

We've taken them on before with no issues - not large amounts but maybe 6 or 7 "nippers" as we call them in upstate NY. They were in our toiletry bag one time and in the inside pockets of our checked bag a couple of other times - never in our carry-on.

I have to laugh though. We went on an catamaran excursion and they ended up giving us a whole liter of rum - unopened. I told DH it was going to get confiscated when we returned to the ship. We just put it in our beach bag and said if they do, they do. We didn't pay anything for it so no great loss. They made DH remove his hat but the bag with the liter went right thru the scanner - no questions asked. I was shocked really.

I guess it's hit or miss.
