Ratdoggie Posted August 27, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 27, 2014 Flying from Oregon or Washington to Miami in Feb. Any suggestions for when I should book airfare? I am hoping the rates will go down but don't want to wait too long. Thanks!
JohninDC Posted August 27, 2014 #2 Share Posted August 27, 2014 Doubt rates will go down for Feb - that is high season in south FLA and demand will only increase as dates get closer. I would book as soon as you see flights that work for you.
Rare Keith1010 Posted August 27, 2014 #3 Share Posted August 27, 2014 I would book now. I don't see fares going down. This is part of the tourist season. Keith
BlueHerons Posted August 27, 2014 #4 Share Posted August 27, 2014 Prices will only go up from here on out. I would not wait.
mspink98 Posted August 28, 2014 #5 Share Posted August 28, 2014 Ditto. Airfares to FL in February can be a tough pill to swallow, but they'll only get worse as those flights start to fill up.

Rare Keith1010 Posted August 28, 2014 #7 Share Posted August 28, 2014 I would do just that. Keith
roger001 Posted August 28, 2014 #8 Share Posted August 28, 2014 Thank you all for the replies, it sounds like I better get on the airfare! Based on a CC discussion yesterday, I last night booked SWA from Nashville to FLL and return for March. I was shocked to see that several of the flights for the days we needed were already sold out. I did grab the ones that were still available before they were gone. Book flights and hotels now....and cancel later if the prices drop or your plans change. Ruthk Posted August 29, 2014 #9 Share Posted August 29, 2014 If you are booking with JetBlue or Southwest - the earlier the better for prices. As their planes fill up, their prices rise.

snowmen Posted August 29, 2014 #11 Share Posted August 29, 2014 Just booked Southwest for $530 a passenger for March 6. coming back March 14? One of the flights is nonstop. Does that sound about right for this time of year?

Does that sound about right for this time of year? Unfortunately, that is probably about right. Do check the prices occasionally between now and then. SWA will occasionally post much lower prices for a trip. SWA still doesn't' charge for changing a flight. However, I think the days of $100 flights are pretty much over. terri-eddie Posted August 30, 2014 #13 Share Posted August 30, 2014 I've been checking flight prices from our home in Nova Scotia Canada to Fort Lauderdale or Miami for the past six months, for travel in March 2015. The price has not dropped below $780 per person in all that time, and over the last few weeks has actually gone up by $100 or more, depending on the day. When we flew to Florida two years ago, at the same time of year, the flights were roughly $300 per person.
DKNE Posted August 30, 2014 #14 Share Posted August 30, 2014 We are looking at flights in January from Buffalo to Fort Lauderdale, and its just under $200 a person (because we have a credit voucher when the airline messed up abit). I am guessing that's a pretty good price...........$768 for 4 of us !!!
