Why does the casino host "seek you out"? I'm a big better, always have casino cash and drinks on us card waiting for me but never had the casino host specifically seek me out when I boarded.

Do you play the machines? It's possible if you don't that it would take awhile for them to know that you're there. Once our cards are in the slots we are always visited by at least one, and usually both Casino Hosts on the first night.

It also doesn't hurt that DH likely holds the Carnival record on points accrued in a single cruise. ;)

Did you see the price drop when looking at casino offers? or were you just checking prices without logging in? thanks! I see some I would like to book but prices seem high...

also, when you get casino offers... do they ever add dates that are not included later?

I had gotten 20% off when I booked my cruise through the player's club. (couldn't make any of the Premier cruise dates.) I price check a few times a week. I then saw that my cruise had dropped below what I had paid through the Player's Club. I was not logged in. E-mailed the gal I had booked through at PC, and was sent the obc. No problems. I was not logged in. If there is a cruise and cabin you like, I would call the PC and see what they can do for you before booking any other way. It is worth the call.

The most successful casino operations know that giving a little sumpin' sumpin' to start with, almost always means more money to the casino.

They're not doing it because we're friends.

That is so true. Our local land casino gives both of us $25 twice a month, a free hotel room twice a month and $20 in gas cards once a month. That winds up costing us mega bucks every time we go there to collect. I swear they have a ten foot long wrench to tighten up those machines on those days.

I hate the Carnival Players Club part of Carnival... After what happened on my last cruise, I'm not even sure I'll ever contact Michael or anyone there again... It's not worth whatever they might want to offer me... This is the letter I sent back in June, and to this day, have not received so much as an apology from anyone.. Just not worth it to me...

The only "bad" part of the cruise was in the Casino. It started back in March when I called the Casino Players Club and got Marti who advised me that my brother in law would get $40, I would get $50 cash and that my sister would get $75. I asked her to please email it to me but never got an email. I then emailed Michael Bayona, Casino VIP Services Supervisor who I have dealt with in the past, asked him once again to please fax the info to me. I got a fax telling me that Francine would be getting $50 and Scott and I $25 each. I emailed him back telling him what Marti had told me and his response, again via email was "The amount I sent you is correct" and that's it.. Ok, no big deal... We go to the Casino Cashiers Cage Friday night, Francine gets $75, Scott gets $50 and I get a "your name is on the list but no dollar amount beside it, can you come back tomorrow after we check it out".. Of course I can, where am I going!!! I go back on Saturday night only to be told by the girl behind the cage that they didn't get an answer from Michael and I said, well you probably aren't going to its the weekend and she says well there is nothing we can do for you....I think it was the way I was talked to that I said, "Really, you can't even give me the $25?" and she says I need to talk to the Casino Host... I believe his name was "Today" or something close to that... So she called him and he comes over to me and I explain that according to Michael I should be getting $25 and he tells me he can't do or give me anything because he doesn't have any proof... I seriously felt like he just called me a liar.. I told him I had the email on my phone and he said "show it to me" which I then did... "Well I can't do anything without a copy so I told him "no problem I can forward it to you" and he said "No I have to take it in the back and make a copy" to which I handed him my phone.. About 10 minutes later he came out of the office, handed me my phone back and said "ok go to the cashiers window and get your money"... I'm not sure why but it left a very sour taste in my mouth... I felt like he didn't believe me, I felt like he thought I was making the whole thing up, I was upset that there was nothing next to my name on the list etc... An offer of perhaps a drink or even an apology would have been good, but I didn't get any of that... Now, we were in the Casino the majority of the time and "Today" never came over to me after that, never said hello, never smiled, nothing... So this trip the casino was a big disappointment... Not only because of this incident, but this particular cruise, the casino staff was just not friendly like they always have been in the past.

Wonder if I should email Michael and attach the above.. I cruise again 2 months from today...

NCtribeFan- I see you are sailing on the Freedom coming up. I found that their casino is much friendlier at rating their players. Either that or I spent much more than I should have in the casino. But on our back to back I got a comped cruise offer on both weeks. AND I got a Premier Cruise offer shortly thereafter. I have never received one previously despite being like you and get the smaller comps. So you never know. Watch your cabin mailbox on the last night of the cruise....

Looking for some explanation. This will be my 3rd consecutive cruise coming up that I received a letter on last night for complimentary cruise, just pay taxes and port fees. Is the premier cruise something different? I am just trying to sort out Carnivals different offers. I have listed below as I know them.

I can help you with the explanations, as I receive all the offers you listed. The comp cruise usually has to be booked within 14 days of your debark, and you have to cruise within a certain amount of time. The casino hast usually finds me on the last night in the casin, and hands me the letter. The special vifp rate gives you a discount on a cruise (usually just certain cruises are eligible) and some casino cash. The premier cruises are offered a few times a year, and give early boarding , party, souvenir, more casino cash than the regular vifp offer, and other perks.

Thanks PEman... Do you get premier off by regular mail, email, while on cruise or listed on website under vipf offers?

I get the Premier cruise offers by postcard, and also under vifp offers when I log in to the CCL website. On the cruise you will get a letter the last night offering you 20% off, or perhaps a free inside or balcony if you qualify.

I have been on a few Carnival Cruises, but I have never received any of the COMPs all of you have been talking about. I must be a low casino spender. LOL What level of play or money action do you have to reach to receive some of the COMPs. $200.00 $500.00 $1000.00 a week or more?

Thanks

As far as I can tell, no one knows how they decide to comp people. At least, not that I've discovered. I mean, are they really going to reveal that if you spend $$, you'll get a gift? Or spend $$$ and you'll get a free cruise offer?

I questioned Michael once about receiving a whopping $25 casino cash when I'd spent quite a lot on my prior cruise. He never responded. But I've received Premium gift baskets twice after not having spent a whole lot. There just doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason.

I honestly don't keep track. I play the slots and I play as much as I want (but I have no intention of spend $$$ on a cruise; if I had that sort of budget, I'd be on a more upscale cruiseline!). If I think I'm wasting too much money, I avoid the casino. I do spend more time in there when I sail solo, which is more often than with a friend these days.

Between the two cruises I took within the last year, I had combined over 4,000 points, which is way more than usual. I rarely even get to the free drink card on the last night. I'm guessing that's why I received the Premier offer. No idea what one must need to spend to receive a free cruise offer. I'm guessing I'll never find out! :p
