Contacting the Players Club

We have a B2B and 2 other cruises lined up that were booked thru the Promotions Department using vouchers from a land casino. In each case we upgraded from interior cabins. Now bear in mind that we get the Premier Cruise offers each and every time, and a free cruise is offered to DH. We chose to use the vouchers instead, because we then had our pick of ships and dates. I contacted Michael and was told that neither of us would receive any casino cash because the cruises were initiated via the land casino.....but booked thru Carnival's promotions who cheerfully accepted my $$$ for the upgrades.

Go figure. I can't for the life of me understand why it matters how the cruise came to be, only that DH and I will accumulate large amounts of points that will cause us to receive free offers from Carnival regularly....really, no cruise cash regardless of how much we spend, only because the offer came to us from Carnival indirectly?

Well, I certainly don't cruise to gamble. IIf my cruise budget were so large that I could drop thousands in the casino, I wouldn't be sailing on Carnival!

I do spend time in the casino and spend more than I should when I sail solo, which is probably why I (finally) received a Premier offer. Not free, by any means, since I'm solo, but the other perks look nice.

But wouldn't you think that if I spent enough to qualify for a Premier offer, I'd receive more than $25 casino cash on the cruise one month before the Premier?

I had to select the Freedom sailing (which was one of the more expensive Premier offerings) because I have work deadlines until 10/15, and I already had the 11/1 Splendor repo booked (with air to San Juan, pre-cruise hotel, and a cruise buddy coming along). So multiple Premier bookings were not an option for me.

I think that they're really starting to promote the Premiere Cruises, which is why I'm getting the shaft on the cruise cash for my next cruises. DH and I don't receive bounceback offers anymore either. The Premiere Cruises definitely encourage more gambling with a higher S&S daily limit for slots and fees waived at tables, plus the different activities that lure you into the casino. If this begins to fail, they'll probably try another strategy.

We get all the gifts and whatnot from the casino hosts whenever we cruise anyway, so I'd still rather pick my dates and forego the Premiere Cruises for the most part.

Things really would be much better if I were chosen to rule the world, but alas, that hasn't happened yet. ;)

When I called them 3 weeks ago, I was on hold for 1 hour and 12 minutes before I got a hold of Marty. She said that Michael was on vacation for a week and she was all alone.

Prior to that...I sent 3 emails that did not get me any responses which is why I chose to hold for that long.

My BBF called last week and the option to hold was no longer available, I am not sure why they are making this so difficult, but they are:mad:.

Try the casino@carnival.com address. That seems to be the latest.

For all the very useful info I've received on Cruise Critic, I do sometimes think that our dissemination of that info can cause policy changes. Someone comes here and posts about something wonderful, Carnival (or whatever entity) is overwhelmed (like with the Father's Day bonus Gift Cards) and can't handle the sudden demand, and when things don't work, people here get very upset. And due to the overwhelming demand, the entity changes their policies and/or offers. Know what I mean?

I also would make a fine World Leader. :p

I have tried twice in the past and have never gotten any reply. I just tried again so we'll see what happens.

Wow. I sent him that e-mail at 1:45 and at 2:59 he sent me this. I have no idea of what a Standard Bon Voyage package is but I'll take it.

I, too, received the Premier Cruise offer which we didn't use. I also had a casino rate on another cruise with $50 OBC for me and $25 for DH. We had to cancel that cruise and now we are booked on another for September and one for February.

I sent an email to the casino people and got a response that I would receive a Premier Bon Voyage package. I asked what it included and it was wine, water and a fruit basket. I asked why if I were eligible for cash on the other two cruise offers, why no cash at this time. I was told it was because those offers expired and although I did get the drinks are on us card on our last cruise, the amount I spent in the casino wasn't enough to warrant cash.

I found that interesting as I had more points on the last cruise I actually took and on that one I did get $50 casino cash as well as the other things. Makes no sense to me, but I think this time I will spend less money and time in the casino and enjoy some of the shows etc especially since my understanding is the casino on Liberty is very smoky.

I'm sure they have enough people playing in the casino that my "small" donations don't make a difference.

The simple answer is that when departments within companies offer freebies and perks like cruise cash it has to be budgeted for. It is not a discretionary giveaway.

I am in same boat as you i emailed asking what their criteria is for getting comps cause i am definitely confused....that was last week and still no reply, so maybe they are still trying to figure out what they are doing.

I got my first casino offers yesterday. Emailed Michael at around 4 pm...got a response at 6:15! Does anyone here know if you book the casino offer, and the price drops, can you get those price drops? Or should you wait awhile to see if the price drops before booking?

I just got a price drop 3 weeks ago ($85) on a casino offer I had booked for my Feb. cruise. Just call the Players Club, or e-mail whoever you booked with at the PC. I did it by email, and got the obc around 2 hours later.

Did you see the price drop when looking at casino offers? or were you just checking prices without logging in? thanks! I see some I would like to book but prices seem high...

also, when you get casino offers... do they ever add dates that are not included later?

Yes, some of us say "thank you," regardless of whether we're getting something great or getting very little. They don't "have" to give anything. If I were serious about my gambling, I wouldn't be doing it on a cruise ship; I'd be doing it at a casino on land.

I won't get any price drops on my Premier cruise as it isn't even showing up now as one of the offerings and when I do a fake booking, it doesn't show as one of the rates available.

I'm happy I received an offer. Yes, it would've been nice if it had been a freebie, but apparently I'm not spending nearly as much as some people. But, like I said earlier, if my cruise budgets allowed for thousands of dollars of casino play, I'd use that money to book a somewhat more luxurious cruise to interesting new ports instead of flushing it down the casino drain!

I've asked them before how they base their comps and received no explanation. As noted, you'd think that since I spent enough to warrant a Premier offer, that I'd be receiving more than $25 on the cruise a few weeks before the Premier cruise. But maybe, since I'm taking advantage of the Premier cruise and the perks that go with it, I'm just not going to get a lot on a different sailing. I'm not solo on that one, and we have 5 ports (3 new to me), so I won't be spending much time in the casino anyway.

I'll take my $25 cash and say thank you. And if the lack of spending on that sailing means I'll get very little in the future, so be it.

NCtribeFan- I see you are sailing on the Freedom coming up. I found that their casino is much friendlier at rating their players. Either that or I spent much more than I should have in the casino. But on our back to back I got a comped cruise offer on both weeks. AND I got a Premier Cruise offer shortly thereafter. I have never received one previously despite being like you and get the smaller comps. So you never know. Watch your cabin mailbox on the last night of the cruise....

Doesn't anybody just say "Thank You"?

Of course most people say "Thank You". We thank the Casino Host repeatedly for the complimentary spa treatments, steakhouse dinners, etc. as well. The reason that I find it odd that Carnival isn't more forthcoming with casino cash is that goes right back into their pockets....it doesn't cost them anything. I doubt that there's ever been a passenger that went to the cage, got their cash, and went shopping in the Funshops. On the other hand, when we board and the Casino Host seeks us out (usually immediately), and when we haven't been given any cash I let him/her know. They make up for it with other perks....but those perks often require that we LEAVE the casino...so it seems like someone at Carnival doesn't think this thru very well.

The most successful casino operations know that giving a little sumpin' sumpin' to start with, almost always means more money to the casino.

They're not doing it because we're friends.

Why does the casino host "seek you out"? I'm a big better, always have casino cash and drinks on us card waiting for me but never had the casino host specifically seek me out when I boarded.
