Aus Traveller Posted September 6, 2014 #3 Share Posted September 6, 2014 As you are only away three nights, I think it would be better to pay for secure parking. There is a parking station closer to Darling Harbour that offered specials for cruise passengers when the ships left from Barangaroo.
Tomo72 Posted September 6, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted September 6, 2014 I have used the Wilson parking before but that is minmum 10 days.
The_Big_M Posted September 6, 2014 #5 Share Posted September 6, 2014 5km is out to lilyfield covering Balmain, annandale and Pyrmont. All high density, older areas. No easy areas to park there.
Kiwi Kruzer Posted September 6, 2014 #6 Share Posted September 6, 2014 It might be more cost effective to pay for secure parking .....:eek:
The_Big_M Posted September 7, 2014 #7 Share Posted September 7, 2014 (edited) Cost of that definitely wouldn't be worth three days parking (except at the airport) ;-) Edited September 7, 2014 by The_Big_M
David1951 Posted September 7, 2014 #8 Share Posted September 7, 2014 Why not park at the airport and get a train to the quay
Bodogbodog Posted September 7, 2014 #9 Share Posted September 7, 2014 Why not park at the airport and get a train to the quay Three day parking at Sydney airport? - you ever parked there? - you could afford another cruise for what they charge :D Anyway even if they got a train to Circular Quay they'd still need to catch around to White Bay Depending where they live a taxi to White Bay from home might be the most cost effective
Rare MicCanberra Posted September 7, 2014 #10 Share Posted September 7, 2014 Leave the car at home and catch a train, cab (or both), it will be safer and more cost effective.:D
The_Big_M Posted September 8, 2014 #11 Share Posted September 8, 2014 All depends how far away and where they live. A train may not be a viable option, and a cab may be super expensive! :D

They always have specials running and 4 days would cost about $50-60. Just catch a cab from Syd Airport to White Bay. Anyway IMO 3 day cruises are way overpriced. Rare MicCanberra Posted September 8, 2014 #14 Share Posted September 8, 2014 Anyway IMO 3 day cruises are way overpriced. Some are, some are not. We did a four day cruise for $70 per person per day. :D
GUT2407 Posted September 8, 2014 #15 Share Posted September 8, 2014 Sydney airport has long term parking last time I parked there about $20 a day.
The_Big_M Posted September 8, 2014 #16 Share Posted September 8, 2014 I suppose it depends on a lot of factors, but he is in Sydney after all.D And Sydney is BIG. :D Lots of places don't have a train service, or it may not be viable for a number of reasons. And a cab from say Windsor, or Campbelltown or some other places may still rival the cost of the 3 day cruise! :D

Tomo72 Posted September 8, 2014 Author #19 Share Posted September 8, 2014 Thanks for the suggestions. We live in the Blue Mountains so a taxi is not a viable option. We have decided to take the train to Central then a taxi. Yes 3 day cruises arent as cheap as some cruise deal you find at times but this is for a birthday celebration. $200 obc sweetened the deal a little. Yes 3 day cruises arent as cheap as some cruise deal you find at times but this is for a birthday celebration. $200 obc sweetened the deal a little. I think that is the easiest option, they will have shuttles from central to the ship but if there is two or more a taxi is quicker, easier and unless traffic is blocked, cheaper. enjoy your cruise.:D
The_Big_M Posted September 9, 2014 #23 Share Posted September 9, 2014 Last time I was in Sydney both Windsor and Campbelltown had a train service that ran almost on time.:D I said lots of places don't have a train service, not that Windsor or Campbelltown don't. I then referred to Windsor and Campbelltown about the cab cost. The poster confirmed their location was a similar long way away, and so would be a very high cost, so not viable. :D

Blue Mtns trains are nice, no need to change. Central is the closest stop, and relatively convenient for a taxi to White Bay. A taxi will probably take 15 minutes depending on traffic at that time. GUT2407 Posted September 9, 2014 #25 Share Posted September 9, 2014 There will, in all probability, be a shuttle from Central to White Bay.
