Adding money to onboard account

Is there a way to do this before we sail? Like say I wanted to throw a little bit of money into our onboard account every paycheck so we have a little bank waiting for us when we sail, is there a way to do it? I thought there was, but can't seem to find anything on our cruise details page.

We booked through a travel agent, in case that makes a difference in this instance.

If there is a way to do it, you will have to do it through your TA.

Alternately, you could try an envelope system. Meaning go to the bank each pay period and take out the "little bit of money" and place it into an envelope for just the purpose of your cruise. If you did not want it in your house in an envelope you could deposit it into a savings account that had only the monies you were going to use for vacation.

Happy sailing!!!

As long as you have a booking number you should be able to buy Cruise Cash. It is added to your account each time you buy it, just make sure you ask for an email confirmation and print it out to take with you, just in case. It is non refundable, so make sure you only buy what you feel you will be spending. Although there is a way around that by going through the casino. :) I always call Carnival direct to buy it, instead of going through the website, seems it always messes up online.

You could also do the Verizon gift card idea that has been talked a lot about lately.

Cruise cash and gift card make the money a bit less fluid, but would achieve the goal you originally asked about.

Thanks, gonna look into both of these options. At the very least I can get enough to cover the tips (do you know if these can be applied to tips? I can't imagine they wouldn't since they collected money for it in the first place....but never can be too sure), steakhouse dinner, and husband's bottomless bubbles and then I won't have to worry about adding more than we will spend onboard.

Not intending to hijack the thread but will this Cruise Cash show up any docs or cruise detail pages other than the confirmation of purchase email? I bought enough for tips and cheers about 5 days ago, bank account has been charged, but I don't see it anywhere as a purchase or on board credit or anything, other than confirmation email.

I purchase the Carnival Gift Cards through-out the year and then just apply them as soon as we get on board. If you have Verizon as a carrier, check on their site as you get 10% off the Carnival Gift Cards with using your Verizon points;)

It didn't show anywhere for me, I took my confirmation emails just in case. It was already on my S&S account when I boarded and there was a card in the cabin stating the amount. Very easy way to pay for things before the cruise.

It can be used for anything on board, including tips.

Every payday I deduct an amount from checking and have a ledger keeping track of it. When the time comes to pay for the trip I'll credit it back in and call my PVP and give her a check number.

When we get closer to sailing date and I'm pretty sure I won't be canceling, I'll buy some cruise cash with what's left of the money. I'm saving enough for my account too.

The Carnival e-gift cards can be used for the gratuity as well, I just paid off my cruise on Monday with a portion of the Carnival e-gift cards from Verizon Rewards and had then add the gratuity to mine so I'll have a zero balance when I arrive.

I plan to add the remaining e-gift cards $$ to my sign and sail.

Hm, I don't think it matters if you use a travel agent or not, you can still buy directly from Carnival and have it applied as OBC.

I booked a cruise through a travel website, but went to the Carnival website to add my booking and purchase FTTF. As long as you have a Carnival booking number, you're set!

Last year I bought the cruise cash & that worked great. I printed my confirmations just in case I needed them, but everything was perfect. This year, I'm using the gift cards purchased via the Vzn Rewards program & saving the 10%. I tried to see if I could pay for cruise cash w/ the gc's, but you have to use a credit card for payment on those.

I've been going online regularly and buying the cruise cash (not the Cruise Bar or Cruise Photo cash) because it can be used for anything you put on your S&S card... like the OP said, just an easy way to add a bit to the account on a regular basis... since I don't qualify for OBC :(

As for online messing up, all I do is print out my receipt and add it to my cruise file so I can show proof of how much I bought in case there is a problem when I board...
