I am on vacation and there are things to do, the daily has them listed, but sometimes I would like to watch some sports.

In Oct 2013 on a cruise from NYC to Florida during the ALCS/NCLS the only the NLCS was played, even after the NLCS and there was a ALCS game being played it was not played.

On a cruise in March the only spirt shown was cricket, the ESPN channel shown was the international channel.

In Aug when the Football pre season was underway and the Hall of Fame game was being played, soccer was on.

Ok so if you are still reading, yes I am on vacation and maybe I should do an activity listing in the daily, and I do, but at time I would like to sit at the sports bar with a beer and a snack and watch a game.

We are sailing from a US port, a US viewed sport would be nice.

A person on the Breakaway last week did say they Football was on, I assume the late game may be shown in H2O, please keep the theme going during the week, Baseball, Golf, Thursday Night Football.

Happy sailing all.

Last year on the breakaway they had the night football games on in the atrium on the big screen. Dunno about during the day..soccer seems to be like a never ending sport...

You want to be in my house with 2 grown up boys and a soccer made wife who watch any football that's on day or night now that's never ending

We just came back from the 9/14 to 9/21 Breakaway cruise. After boarding on Sunday we found that the ship carried ESPN, and we were able to see (if we wanted) the 1PM and 4PM games on CBS. Since they don't get the Fox Sports channel ( channel 5 in NYC) we couldn't catch the Giants game, which seeing how they've been doing was probably a good thing.

There are TVs all over O'Sheehans for easy viewing and at the Maltings bar as well.

The Monday night and Thursday night games were also being carried.

When we were in Bermuda they showed Soccer and Cricket (which apparently is like baseball but even more boring if that's possible :-) .

I tried liking soccer, I really did. I watched a lot of the World Cup this past summer but unfortunately (or fortunately) I still don't get what all the fuss is about. A bunch of men or women run around for 90 minutes and nothing happens. Then the judges add on a certain amount of time (only they know how this is calculated). And they run around some more. Then if it is still a tie they have a kickoff contest. WHAT!!! Why not save all of us two hours and just do the kickoff at the beginning? Sorry. I like a good game where overly muscled men run at each other at 20 miles an hour and get concussions, contusions, broken bones and a future life of premature dementia, arthritis etc.

Why not just bring back gladiators and get it over with.

But if you REALLY want to watch all of those sports, why the heck are you taking a cruise? There's lots of other stuff to do, you know.

Beach, as I said, I am on vacation and I do other thinks, but as DW is doing stuff in the casino I may want to sit at a bar and watch something besides cricket and soccer.

On can only hope that they show some cricket on our cruise next week. But since we are on the west coast, I doubt it. :( Any sport is better than endless highlights all night (like last year). What's the point of a sports bar without any sports on?

Keep in mind that half the people on the ship are crew, many of which are likely avid soccer and cricket fans. The choice of channels is likely meant to appeal to them while they are off duty.

I hope the choice of channels is meant to appeal to the paying customers! Same as the food that is served and the entertainment provided.

Come on over to my house. I have an aspiring sports writer DS(20) who currently has an internship writing for an internet sports website. He writes 2 articles on the Red Wings a week. Of course he loves all sports, especially his Detroit teams, soccer, Nascar, and Pro Cycling (he also writes articles on the Tour de France for his website). There is always one type of sport playing on at least 1 if not more of TVs. Last night he had the preseason Red Wings game going on his laptop and the Tigers game on the TV:rolleyes:. FWIW he loves all the soccer games on the cruises.
