ssiimmppllee Posted September 22, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 22, 2014 (edited) Hi Folks, I am planning a cruise that would leave from San Jaun on my own and am new to cruising. The price point is high when you are traveling alone. I am wondering what would be the better choice. An inside stateroom on the Celebrity Summit or a Balcony stateroom on the Carnival Valor. They both sit at around the same price. Thanks. ssiimmppllee Edited September 22, 2014 by ssiimmppllee
Rare Essiesmom Posted September 22, 2014 #2 Share Posted September 22, 2014 It would be Celebrity for me, but I'm also Platinum on carnival and would not hesitate to sail on Valor. but I have never had a balcony on Carnival, and would probably do an inside there, too. dorisis Posted September 25, 2014 #3 Share Posted September 25, 2014 Is your cruise stopping at a lot of ports? If so the inside would be fine. If not I would choose the balcony.

It is a nice ship and typically, except during holiday periods has fewer children and less party people the Carnival. The Celebrity ships have a great no announcement policy, the food superior and a wonderful adult only pool/spa area. I think if you are traveling alone, a better option. IMO. I've been in inside cabins and didn't like it. That said, Celebrity is a step above Carnival, but that does not mean you will enjoy the experience any better. By that I mean, Hyatt may be a better hotel than Holiday Inn, but that does not mean I would sleep any better at Hyatt than I would at Holiday Inn.
