What to do for 12 hours?

Book a better flight?

I'm sure the OP never thought of that! Most of the post cruise excursions like those offered still drop you off at the airport in the early afternoon, so you would have several hours to wait still. I did a shopping excursion once and was dropped off around 2pm. About the same for the Airboat ride as well. You could check with the hotels in the area for a day pass and sit by the pool. Taxi's are cheap and plentiful to the airport.

This is a common issue for me as well. I take a cab to the airport, rent a car. If its nice out we head south and enjoy the beach and boardwalk area. We've also done the Jungle Queen millionaires boat tour downtown. Shopping downtown or Saw Grass Mills. There's also a few parks - Hugh Taylor Birch, Flamingo might be interesting.

Our flight out of FLL doesn't leave until 8PM after we get off of the Oasis. Does anyone have suggestions on what we can do to keep entertained until we can check in at the airport?

Are you on BA flight 208 after the transatlantic per chance? If so I am in the same boat

Ft Lauderdale Water Taxi.....a not expensive and a great way to see all that FT. Lauderdale has to offer......everything from local architecture to bars/restaurants/shopping/ to mega yachts & mega waterfront mansions

we have done this many times when in Ft. Lauderdale whether on business ~ land vacations or cruising from Port Everglades

take a cab from Port and go to nearest water taxi stop on ICW (IntraCoastal Waterway)....water taxi stop 5A (Hilton Marina Hotel @ 17th street) is very close to Port Everglades.....here is a link for the water taxi map & stops along with discounts offered at each stop to water taxi riders....

http://watertaxi.com/maps-stops/

various stops along the ICW and the New River which goes into downtown Ft. Lauderdale....get on/off as you please...unlimited rides....various fares for seniors/military/children.....here is link for water taxi fares....

here is a video of the water taxi in action and many of the sites/stops along the ICW......enjoy....:)

Compare prices for: excursion (which will get you to the airport around 1pm...that's the downside)

dayroom at a hotel, so you have pool, bathroom and someplace to store luggage and yourself!

changing flight to something earlier! Pick the least expensive!

Roadway Inn has day rooms for $49 for 4 people. They will pick you up at the port and drop you off at the airport.

We were almost in the same situation for our Freedom cruise out of Port Canaveral, except the return flight was at 9:30pm! We dodged that bullet by booking a flight flying to an airport near us instead which had better timing and price. I'd suggest looking for other airports with flights from FLL. If not, there is the beach in Fort Lauderdale or nearby Miami, the Bonnet House museum and gardens, etc. I'm sure there'll be something there to occupy you during that wait.

Everglades airboats excursion. You don't want to get to FLL too early. Not much to eat either so make sure you eat before you go to the airport. Unless they have updated the airport in the last two years anyway. When we were there in 2012 the airport was kind run down and nothing to do there and not much to eat.

Didn't know that. I stayed at that Roadway once. Its a decent hotel, not luxury by any chance, a sports bar with decent food attached to it.
