George C Posted September 28, 2014 #3 Share Posted September 28, 2014 We do all 3, but because of St Marten I will pick eastern
Rare RCCL Fan Posted September 28, 2014 #4 Share Posted September 28, 2014 Southern and Western for me. Southern because you go to places with more international influences, and unique cultures. Western for the variety: Cozumel is party day, Grand Cayman is complete and total paradise, Jamaica is poor but beautiful, and Labadee is Rest and Relaxation day. I've never been a fan of the eastern route. Other than SXM the islands do little for me, the water tends to be more rough, more sea days, 2.5 stops vs 3 or 4 on west. bighairtexan Posted September 28, 2014 #9 Share Posted September 28, 2014 Southern for the great beaches. Western for Cozumel which is one of my favorite ports (but I know some people would rank it WAAAAAY down the list). Actually, I prefer almost anything that doesn't include Jamaica, as it's possibly my least favorite port, from Kingston to Falmouth to Mo. Bay (and I'm guessing for some folks it's their favorite island).
celebrity Posted September 28, 2014 #10 Share Posted September 28, 2014 Southern .. then Eastern .. then Western Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app Same here! I love Cozumel but Jamaica is always included in Western so it's off my list. Really a shame that the gov't doesn't do anything to protect tourists from being harassed and feeling threatened. Been there twice and both times a very negative experience. :(
bighairtexan Posted September 28, 2014 #11 Share Posted September 28, 2014 It depends on the ship. For instance, most of Navigator of the Seas' Western Caribbean itineraries stop at Belize, Roatan and Cozumel. They have a DIFFERENT Western Caribbean that stops at Cayman, Falmouth Jamaica and Cozumel.
dcward89 Posted September 28, 2014 #12 Share Posted September 28, 2014 Southern, then Southern, then Southern. We love the beach and have been to the most amazing beaches on Southern itineraries...St. Lucia, St. Marten, Antigua, St. Croix, Tortola...just love the beaches!! JimAOk1945 Posted September 28, 2014 #17 Share Posted September 28, 2014 We have done all three. The thing that stands out in my mind as being different about the Western itineraries is the opportunities to see the Mayan Ruins. That is a big plus for us. We enjoyed Uxmal, Chichen Itza, Kohunlich, Lamanai, and Tulum so far. The Eastern and Southern itineraries are great for water related activities. Cruising is a great way to see the world.
