Do most men think capris are ugly?

Recommended Posts

Can I declare my opinion too? LOL! I think that capris are more flattering than crop pants. The crop pants do, however, look cute on little bitty ladies...but capri pants look decent on just about any size almost. I even bought myself some capris for the cruise as did my daughter who is also on the tater-dumplin side like me. I love them on her as they make her legs look longer for some reason....hopefully, my tater-dumplin legs look longer also....LOL! icon_cool.gif

I love capris. I have learned not to ask my DH fashion questions, unless of course I want to hear the answer.

In a hot climate like Northern California they're great. I can feel cool while still feeling covered like at work.

Also, and I hope this doesn't sound silly, but capris make me feel young. I'm 42, not overweight and I love them on me. That's what counts.

Count me as a vote for really liking capris and crop pants. So does my husband, and he has said so on many occasions. They are like any other pants in my opinion--they can be sloppy if not paired with the right tops and accessories. Done right, however, I think they are very flattering to most people. Certainly they have a more "pulled-together" look than shorts and are more versatile.

I like capris and have found some of the cutest sets in places like Dillard's and The Jones Store. Whether or not my DH likes them or not, I have no clue! icon_smile.gif

My husband has never voiced an opinion about capris or cropped pants. I have never worn them. I've tried them on, but I'm 5'2" and have large calves (to match my large thighs), so they just don't look good on me. I think they look cute on everyone else, but not on me! Now, those leggings that someone mentioned earlier...my husband HATES those!!

After voting a few days ago, I thought maybe I should ask for DH honest opinion. Here it is: They are okay, he doesn't really have an aversion to them, but he doesn't look for them either. Pretty much what I thought he would say, but now I know.

I don't think my DH loves them, but I don't really care... I hate wearing shorts, and living in FL, that doesn't really work out too well icon_smile.gif So, I stock up on cropped (not tight, fall right above the ankle) pants/jeans/etc. The best ones are from Ann Taylor or Ann Taylor Loft that have the cute embroidery on the bottom and come in silk or cotton or linen. I think, for me, they look a lot more "put together" than a pair of shorts and a cute shirt, maybe it's the thighs! icon_cool.gif

I am a man and although I am not offended by capri pants -- they do nothing for me and even less for the women who wear them. Not trying to start anything, just expressing my opinion. I feel the same way about madras/plaid bermuda shorts on a male...

Before I left work yesterday, I sent an email to the girls in my area. Today is tan and white day. We're going to all wear tan and white.

That being said, I have a pair of capris on that are tan and white Caribbean print with a white tank top and a white eyelet 3/4 length sleeve blouse, with the buttons undone. I purchased the blouse in St. Martin. I feel as though I'm ready for the Caribbean! icon_wink.gif

Happy Friday, girls! icon_cool.gif

Must be something in the water today, girls. I'm semi-Caribbean. Periwinkle pants and big-shirt over a white T and white Birkenstocks. I think this is the first time I've ever worn white sandals out in public this far before Memorial Day! After listening to you gals, I decided it was O.K.

Yes, we had a wonderful time! One of my friends flew "over the pond" from England! He is staying with the others for the rest of the week.
Ollie...I really want to hear about your cruise...because....I keep thinking I want to try the same ship.
Please let me know all about it when you return

Interesting poll. I think my DH likes them, at least on me. But he never complains about anything I wear. I am tall and I do jog daily so my legs are not hideous.

Personally, I only like the pants that are just below the knee. I cannot stand the pants that are just above the ankle or at mid calf and there is a very good reason. When I was in high school 30+ years ago, women's slacks did not come by length like they do now. I was 5'8" and either had to wear high tiders, lower the hem on all my pants, or add a few inches of embroidered fabric to my jeans (hippy style). I hate pants that remind me of that. By the late 70's I could get "tall" pants. So I like the below the knee length because it is cooler than slacks but when the air conditioning is on, I don't freeze.

Here's a mans opinion:

Everything depends upon what type of capri pants you are talking about. If they are the type that are form fitting, maybe a bit snug, then they can look very flattering. If they are the type that are loose and baggy, then this is a big turn off.

I believe it depends on the man. Men are all different just as woemen are all different.

It also depends on the woman-if she has beautiful legs why not show them off in shorts? But if she is middleaged like me maybe she would look better in the capris. Do you remember the movie Grease and the drag racing scene. I never thought anyone looked uglier in capris then the girl holding the flags.

Oh yes - I don't think there was anything she wore that looked nice. but, I have seen some gals look nice in the pedal pushers/clam digger types - but only if they have slim legs/butt, and the pants are cut slim. Those wide baggy things are most unflattering to everyone. For me, who has rather "stocky" legs, the high risers are a no-go. It's ankle length or just above, for me (oh, and there simply must be a small split at the hem - it just isn't a capri with it!
