dredawg Posted October 17, 2014 #26 Share Posted October 17, 2014 Have to laugh at Adriennerm's post....love doing the wobble, slide and cupids shuffle at sail away. Even though I have such a hard time deciphering my left from my right, I have a ball trying. Taking my mom on a cruise for Christmas so my son just downloaded the "how to video" so he could teach Grandma how to wobble.....seems like I come by my dancing skills honestly...woo hoo...can't wait... 65 more days to practice!!!!! fmrlkr Posted October 17, 2014 #27 Share Posted October 17, 2014 Seeing the 40 thousand posts on here of people running to hide under the covers about the illness-that-shall-not-be-named...I would love to see some people talking happy things :) I'm going to be a first-timer in 57 days on the Glory and I'm super excited. What's your favorite thing to do on your Carnival cruise? Any great moments/things that bring you to your happy place? Ps: I want to clarify that I'm definitely not one of the doom and gloomers, I even live in the Cleveland/Akron area and I'd much rather think about my cruise :D Sent from my iPhone using Forums Illybell, We never sleep in because we like to watch the sunrise while out on the ocean and on port days we like to watch as we arrive. So...our favorite thing to do on a cruise is nap. Sleeping on a cruise is the best nap ever. When we get up we roam around the ship, get an ice cream cone, watch the water and relax. No worries, no deadlines, no ringing phones, no expectations.

GalCruzer Posted October 17, 2014 #29 Share Posted October 17, 2014 Well since our first Carnival Cruise, should be in Feb. Our fav cruise moment is being at the very top of the deck when the ship is leaving, watching and waving...
Albrin1914 Posted October 17, 2014 #30 Share Posted October 17, 2014 I'm 10 days away and I'm sailing on the Paradise. Everyone is packed and ready to go. Unfortunately, I'm always the person scrambling around the day before we leave trying to get my things together. But this time, and I say this every time, I am determined to have everything set to go by next Wednesday. My family has made a silent pact not to assist me this time in order to teach me a lesson. I'll show em' :D
AZmike480 Posted October 17, 2014 #31 Share Posted October 17, 2014 We're getting on our cruise in about 80 days or so. The only concerns I have are enjoying the time at sea and the sand in my toes. :D People freak out about everything! Enjoy your cruise! NCTribeFan Posted October 17, 2014 #32 Share Posted October 17, 2014 I had 2217 on Glory to Bermuda (as a solo). Did have some very loud wave-banging against the hull on the way back to Norfolk that woke me a few times at night (and I don't like my sleep being interrupted!). But I booked 2217 for the Splendor to Bermuda sailing next October. Two weeks from right about now, my cruise buddy and I should be arriving at La Concha in San Juan and sailing on 11/1 (I did the Conquest repo last November and booked Splendor as soon as I found it). Then, I sail again (solo) on 11/29 on Freedom on my first Premier Casino Cruise. I'm getting three new ports on Splendor (St Croix, Martinique and Grenada) and three more on Freedom (Dominican Republic, Aruba and Curacao). I'm happy! :D
Domino D Posted October 17, 2014 #33 Share Posted October 17, 2014 Perhaps, I misunderstood. I thought the question was what are the things about cruising that make you happy? Your happy place. How did we get to page two without the mention of Warm Chocolate Melting Cake? I am stunned that this has not been mentioned. Oh yeah, I think you said this is your first cruise. If so, Sunset and Sunrise on deck are pretty awesome to see. Worth getting up early once for sunrise. There is also a small deck (sometimes called the secret deck or door or something) at the very front of deck 6. If you go out there one night, you will not believe the stars. Just a few small things that are not in the funtimes. Everything about cruising is a happy place for me. I am sure you will have a great time. Thanks for giving us something other than "the problem of the day" to discuss.
LHARTWICK Posted October 17, 2014 #34 Share Posted October 17, 2014 The Serenity area, especially at night - OMG!!! It's heaven on earth! We also love taking that first step onto the ship and seeing the atrium........and smelling that cruise ship smell - LOL! And as of our cruise last week, we now LOVE staying on board while in port. The ship is empty and so peaceful! We also love crawling into bed at night after a lovely day and feeling the sway of the ship. There's just too many things we love to list........... I'll show em' :D That's funny. I am the opposite. We don't sail until Dec 19th and I have already begun pulling cruise clothes, books, and such together. My family has a silent pack to do nothing at all. They know I am so determined to go on the cruise, I will plan it, pay for it, and pack for them. When I have tried to say "not this time", all it does is make the day before we leave more stressful watching them pack dirty clothes that they plan on washing once we are on board. Oh well those are my peeps.

Bunkie103 Posted October 17, 2014 #37 Share Posted October 17, 2014 We sail TOMORROW on the Paradise for our 46th Wedding Anniversary and my birthday. This morning's news did make us take a breath, but we're fine now. Looking forward to my first "FunShip Special" and then lots of Mojitos! First time to sail out of Tampa and we are aware of passing under the Sunshine State Skyway bridge so we'll be sure to be on deck for that. The best news of all is we can avoid POLITICAL ADVERTISEMENTS for almost 6 whole days!!:D:D:D

Rare sprint180 Posted October 17, 2014 #42 Share Posted October 17, 2014 Favorite moment......Stepping into the atrium. Unfortunately, my last cruise didn't have a several story atrium. just 2 stories. Not very wow. But, You can still marvel at how big a ship is. crusinpsychRN Posted October 17, 2014 #43 Share Posted October 17, 2014 Yes! The ding and the atrium! Cruise begins! Even after so many trips on the same ships, I always find something new to experience. 29 days and counting down today!
mom2tcdx2 Posted October 17, 2014 #44 Share Posted October 17, 2014 For the first time ever I have 4 cruises booked in a 4 month period. Very happy, very excited. Though still trying to determine if I can afford flights to Miami in December. I am thinking I could but would have to do a flight the day of. Kind of stressing on whether I could manage that, but flights the day before are at horrible times and I can't get off work early enough for them. We leave next weekend for an MSC cruise, though having 2 Carnival cruises in my future and one on Princess has me super excited.

Of course it helps if they have WCMC, lots of shrimp, Serenity decks, ocean breezes, no snow, Cheers, West Indian Pumpkin soup, no snow, escargot, pools, warm sunshine, no snow, fun ports, trivia games, no snow, giant movie screens, steak houses, room stewards, no snow, ocean sun rises and sunsets, music, no snow, 24/7 room service, balconies, no snow......I mean, really, how do you pick one! :D
cru-cru Posted October 17, 2014 #46 Share Posted October 17, 2014 I am leaving tomorrow on the glory for the 3rd time this year. You will love it. Friendly staff. The MDR food is great. I did try the steakhouse last trip and it was well worth the money. Sea day brunch is a must. Have fun!! ShellLoves2cruise Posted October 17, 2014 #50 Share Posted October 17, 2014 My favorite cruise moment is stepping on the ship and looking up at the beautiful atrium. I feel like a kid at Christmas :) This is also one of my favorite moments ~ I am always just in awe when I first step onto a ship, every time is like the first time! OP, have a wonderful cruise but don't be surprised if you come back addicted and ready to book your next cruise (booking another helps with the after cruise blues)!!
