gopro63 Posted October 24, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 24, 2014 As I was lucky to be at Port for personal reasons RC is retiring a ship, I caught the name Voyager of the Seas. Came in to port and heading out for one last trip? A new ship will come in and I forgot he name. I was talking with the inhouse people there, and seeing the expressions of the people happy, sad, etc.. My question, if you know the ship is being Retired and on the last cruise, what would you d any different, then on any cruise?

Krazy Kruizers Posted October 24, 2014 #3 Share Posted October 24, 2014 They are not retiring Voyager, just relocating her to Australia. I didn't think I had read anywhere that she was being retired. Thanks for clearing that up.

Came in to port and heading out for one last trip? Who told you the ship was being retired? As posted, VOS is not being retired, just changing itineraries like all ships do. CruiserBruce Posted October 24, 2014 #5 Share Posted October 24, 2014 Good chance this is being thoroughly discussed on the RCI board, here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=
Rare aussielozzie18 Posted October 25, 2014 #6 Share Posted October 25, 2014 (edited) The Voyager is currently in dry dock in Singapore getting a multi-million dollar refurb. Definitely, not getting retired on the 1st Nov as she will cruising post refurb out of Sydney, Australia for the 2014/2015 summer season. SuiteTraveler Posted October 25, 2014 #7 Share Posted October 25, 2014 Voyager was only built in 1999 - far too young to retire! At any rate, she's a marvelous ship and I'm happy to hear she is in dry dock and getting a makeover!

chengkp75 Posted October 27, 2014 #9 Share Posted October 27, 2014 Sorry, I don't see any news about them retiring a ship next month, and have looked at the three oldest classes of ships: Sovereign, Vision, and Voyager classes, and all the current ships still have itineraries well into 2015. Well then, you also got the cruise line wrong. RCI is not currently in the process of retiring any of their ships. Voyager, however, did just go to Singapore to undergo a massive refurbishment. Perhaps that is what you heard.
