Program Details

The "Cheers" Beverage Program (previously named the My Awesome Bar Program!) is flat-rate daily pricing for alcoholic drinks, non-alcoholic frozen drinks, wine by the glass and soda. The non-alcoholic drinks and sodas portion of the program are unlimited and do NOT count towards the program limit of 15 in a "day". Alcoholic drinks covered by the program are limited to 15 in a "day". The program "day" is a 24 hour period starting at 6:00AM and ending at 6:00AM the following day. See Restrictions below.

What started as just a trial in August 2012 on the Carnival Victory has greatly expanded due to overwhelming popularity and very few reported issues. The program is now available throughout Carnival's entire fleet; exceptions being: cruises sailing from Australia, 2-Day cruises and charter cruises.

The cost for the "Cheers" Beverage Program is now back to $49.95 per person / day, plus a 15% gratuity added on at the time of purchase (total of $57.45 per person / day).

The program must be purchased on the embarkation day or the next day and for the remainder of the cruise. Beverages, including beers, cocktails, wines by the glass, and non-alcoholic frozen drinks all must have a $10.00 or lower menu price to qualify for inclusion in the program. For drinks with a menu price over $10.00 a 25% discount is offered, this includes wine and champagne by the bottle. Unlimited sodas are also included in the program. Bottled water is offered at a 25% discount. See complete details below.

Beverages Included In The Program:

All spirits (including cocktails), as well as beer and wine by the glass with a $10.00 or lower menu price (excluding gratuity).

Sodas and non-alcoholic frozen cocktails.

25% discount off the menu price for bottled water

25% discount off the menu price for spirits or wine above $10.00 per drink.

25% discount off the menu price wine and champagne by the bottle.

Beverages Excluded From The Program:

Non-alcoholic beverages other than soda and non-alcoholic frozen cocktails.

Beverages promoted and sold in souvenir glasses.

Bottles of liquor.

Bottled water (offered at a 25% discount).

Beverages offered at gangway while debarking.

Beverages offered through room service as well as mini bars and/or other in-stateroom beverage programs.

The sharing of cocktails and floaters.

Buckets of beer, pitchers of beer, and beer tubes.

Wine and champagne by the bottle (offered at a 25% discount).

All spirits or wine above $10.00 per drink (offered at a 25% discount).

Beverages offered through enomatic wine machines.

Coffee beverages and food items.

All other beverage-related programs including cookbooks and bar books, beverage seminars and classes, as well as cigars.

Restrictions:

Must be 21 or older to purchase and agree not to give to minors.

Each adult (21 and over) assigned to the same stateroom must purchase the program. (see Note 1 below)

Guests must purchase the program for the entire cruise. The Cheers Program is not offered on a per day basis.

Only one drink at a time may be ordered. No sharing is permitted.

Guests may purchase a round of drinks for themselves and friends. One drink will count towards the CHEERS! Program and the remaining drinks will be charged to the guest’s Sail and Sign account.

There is a 5 minute wait time between ordering drinks for yourself.

Program allows for up to 15 alcoholic drinks per 24 hour period (6AM-6AM); once the limit is reached, the guest will not be served any additional alcoholic drinks. (see Note 4 below)

Applicable state and local taxes will be charged to the guest folio when this program is used in US waters. (see Note 3 below)

For ships sailing from Texas, due to state laws, the Cheers Program cannot be purchased on embarkation day but will be available for purchase on the 2nd day of the cruise.

Program allows for unlimited soda and non-alcoholic frozen cocktails.

Carnival reserves the right to refuse service for any reason.

Program is non-refundable.

How to Sign Up:

On embarkation day or the next day: You can sign up at the Atrium Bar, Casino Bar or at the main pool area on the Lido Deck.

On embarkation day only: You can sign up at the temporary area set up on the Lido Deck where you previously could sign up for the "Bottomless Bubbles" Unlimited Soda Program.

You currently CAN NOT sign up prior to boarding.

Notes:

1) There are absolutely NO EXCEPTIONS to the rule that everyone in the same cabin (21 years of age or older) most purchase the program. If they allowed one exception it would open the door to everything.

2) You still must sign all of your drink slips after getting a drink, just like you would if you weren't on the Cheers program.

3) You will not be charged tax when purchasing the Cheers Beverage Program, regardless of where/when you purchase it. You will be charged tax on the individual drinks you get while still in US waters. When this occurs the receipt, which would normally say $0.00, will have a small charge on it equivalent to the state and local tax rate for the drink just ordered.

4) Once you hit the program daily limit of 15 alcoholic drinks some cruisers have reported they were still able to purchase drinks at full price, others were not (seems to vary by ship & bartender). Again, Carnival reserves the right to refuse service for any reason.

5) If you order a double it will count as 2 drinks against your program daily limit of 15 alcoholic drinks.

6) The Cheers Program is NOT available on:

a) 2-Day Cruises

b) Charter Cruises

c) Cruises sailing from Australia

d) Port calls in Half Moon Cay, The Bahamas and Little Stirrup Cay, The Bahamas. Keep in mind you can still use the full Cheer's Beverage Program while you are on the ship when docked in these ports.

Theyre all buying their own packages as well, if carnival was so worried about it they wouldnt allow the bartenders to give you unopened bottles:rolleyes:

Whether a bottle is open or not does not change the rules on sharing. Whether a bottle is drunk near a bar on in a room is immaterial as well. As well as whether your kids purchase the package or not. If you use your card to purchase a beverage, put it in the fridge in your cabin, and someone else drinks it, you have broken the rules. Quit trying to rationalize the problem.

I'm heading on two cruises in a few weeks and was planning on getting Cheers on both cruises. I was a little upset with the price increase, but still going to end up getting it... Why? ... Match play..

$5 match play x 15 drinks per day= $75 worth of match play tickets per day for the cost of $57.40 per day plus a heck of allot of drinking. Personally I cant drink all 15, so if Carnival wont let me give them away, ill just sip and dump some for the receipt.

So if you're a gambler like me, you still end up on top

Match play has been discontinued on several, if not most ships.

Where did you get this? Everyone that I have seen post about this says they did it on last cruise up to Oct cruised. We did it on the Fascination in Aug. though we did have to ask about it as there were no signs or anything. I would find it odd that Carnival would have it on some ships yet not others.

Disclaimer-this is only an opinion I have never purchased the Cheers program. I think because when you purchase the Cheers package you are in essence buying 15 drinks so you feel like you are entitled to 15 drinks even if the rules say no sharing you feel like those 15 are yours. If the program was unlimited you would not have the mindset to share because you are not trying to reach a predetermined number of drinks.

Sharing is not a problem. The marginal cost of a drink to Carnival is less than fifty cents. Maybe you should become a Bar Detective also and start following people around the ship?

Wow what a great justification . Do you use it at buffets, movies or perhaps at amusements parks ?

After all the marginal cost of a extra person sneaking in is very low. Maybe you should become a felon.

If anyone is booked on the Main or Riviera decks Carnival is having a sale for $139 per person (ocean view). I'm not sure when exactly 48 hours is though to match.

The Halloween sale ends at midnight tonight. If you're talking about the Paradise, which you're booked on, the current OV prices are 140 for Saturdays cruise and the balance of the month the rates are primarily 165 and 175. These are all 4 and 5 day cruises on a Fantasy class ship. Edit....just noticed that your signature has a ? for a March 2015 cruise. There are many fantastic options available during the sale that ends tonight. The 3/1/15 Liberty is 7 days for 209 + tax. Edited by SNJCruisers

From reading several threads here. The Ecstasy and Splendor for sure and I believe I read somewhere the Glory or the Liberty as well.

Those 15 drinks are YOURS. They are not anyone else's. Follow the rules or don't buy the package.....those are your choices.

Most smart businesses turn a blind eye to minor violations of the rules. As he said, the marginal cost is low, particularly when weighed against the larger cost of no repeat business. The additional cost of sneaking an adult into a buffet is high. Letting someone tell you their 6 year old is really 5 so they don't have to pay is low.

Also, everyone keeps talking about smuggling or people paying at the bar. Don't forget, some simply won't drink, or just one or two. In the past three cruises, I doubt I have even spent $50 on drinks on the ship. But I was strongly considering the Cheers package at the lower pricing for an 8 day cruise. Now, I simply won't spend that much. We might have a drink or two and we'll enjoy the ports, but Carnival won't get my money.

The real value in Cheers for Carnival was getting money out of people they might not otherwise spend. If they could get enough "marginal" drinks to step up to Cheers without getting stung too much by the heavy drinkers, it was a win for the company. Apparently they felt that was not the case, or someone just joined their marketing program who has no idea of the real world.

Why is it that the more posts people have made, the meaner they become??:(

we were on the miracle on the last Alaskan cruise, and we got it for 37.50 a day.

I did find myself trying new drinks more than if it was just a normal account.

But the staff were very open about no liking the cheers program.

they said that at the end of your cruise every bartender that served you would get a portion of the 15% that you paid for the program but they have no way of knowing if they are getting the right amount
