UCBearcat513 Posted October 29, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 29, 2014 (edited) Do you have any suggestions for a memorable excursion in Barbados? My Cruise Crew has been there many times, and we have not been impressed with the island. I'm thinking that we just haven't been to the right place or have had the right experience otherwise why would Barbados continue to be a popular cruise stop? Please enlighten us! PS We will be cruising on Royal Caribbean, Legend of the Seas, departing 02/16/15 Edited October 29, 2014 by UCBearcat513 Forgot something! Loving My Life Posted October 29, 2014 #2 Share Posted October 29, 2014 (edited) We did an all day catamaran trip with Calabaza last January and it was the highlight of our cruise! Swam with sea turtles, snorkeled in two locations, enjoyed a delicious homemade lunch and a beautiful catamaran with only 12 people. We are still taking about it almost two years later. I think we paid $110 per person. Edited October 29, 2014 by Loving My Life
OCruisers Posted October 29, 2014 #3 Share Posted October 29, 2014 Welcome to Cruise Critic! :) What sort of excursions do you enjoy? Knowing that would help us make suggestions. LuLu
jmf123 Posted October 29, 2014 #4 Share Posted October 29, 2014 I love a catamaran sail, that is a great way to spend the day (did that from Tortola). On Barbados my mother and I really enjoyed our excursion seeing Harrison's Cave. It depends on what interests you. Caves, history, shopping, beach time? Have a look at the Barbados Ports of Call forum here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=124. :)
Rare Keith1010 Posted October 29, 2014 #5 Share Posted October 29, 2014 I would also post this on the Barbados Ports Of Call Board. Keith

SuiteTraveler Posted October 29, 2014 #9 Share Posted October 29, 2014 Our favorite tour on Barabados was a photography tour led by Ronnie Carrington. http://ronniecarrington.com/the_artist.cfm http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g1310451-d2092691-Reviews-Photographic_Tour_of_Barbados-Saint_Thomas_Parish_Barbados.html We went all over the island. Saw mushroom rock http://www.tripadvisor.com/LocationPhotoDirectLink-g147262-i46592036-Barbados.html Saw chattel houses http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chattel_house had rum punch at a rum punch bar and learned the recipe Mr. Carrington knows nearly everyone on Barbados including the Prime Minister, whom he has photographed. He has a tremendous knowledge of the island and his insights are fantastic. We got a lot of great photos and really had a wonderful day with him. I highly recommend this tour. cb at sea Posted October 29, 2014 #10 Share Posted October 29, 2014 You know, researching where you're going is the best thing to do...get a guidebook! Read up on your ports...that way, you can make informed decisions about what to do!!
cruiseapril Posted October 30, 2014 #11 Share Posted October 30, 2014 Have you been on an island tour?
CaveDiving Posted October 30, 2014 #12 Share Posted October 30, 2014 Do you have any suggestions for a memorable excursion in Barbados?... Three things come to mind. First is SCUBA diving if you're into that. Second is a Harrison cave visit. Third is the Concorde SST display. Scott & Karen
