Rock Of Ages Cancelled Breakaway

My thoughts exactly. Best I can tell this all started with a call from a rep at NCL UK canceling one reservation. You all know how unreliable the info can be from NCL's reservation reps.

Oh I agree but why then don't my ressies show up anymore?

Personally I think it is a system update or something like a pp posted

I thought it was one of the best shows that NCL ever had onboard their ships.

I hope they did not cancel the show because of some of the complaints that were made with people who had kids. They certainly let you know in advance that it is for mature audiences.

It received a standing ovation on my cruise on the Breakaway.

Too bad if it is in fact cancelled...future Breakaway passengers will be missing a great show with great music.

Perhaps their current contract expires in January, at which time it will be renegotiated. I would rather see something new, although I like the Rock 'n' Roll element. "Tommy", anyone? Better yet: "American Idiot"!!! OMG, I would love that!

It's funny how no one here has thought to call Ncl?

Does Ncl web site still show roa?

I think it is just a glitch so I'm not too concerned plus I am not 100% confident in Ncl uk based on all the posts I read about their rules and regs. Lol

Entertainment day & night. Norwegian Breakaway has something for everyone, from the Broadway shows Rock of Ages & Burn the Floor, The Second City comedy, jazz & blues club, dueling piano bar.

We have an upcoming cruise in January that would not let me book any entertainment. I made several calls to NCL concerned that if it was just me, why? I got a different answer every time I called (it must be filled, it should be available on Monday, then available on Friday, etc.) and I called at least a half dozen times over several days to both customer support and tech support. I finally got through to a supervisor in tech support earlier this week who told me several cruise dates are affected. The entertainment is being rescheduled and nothing would be available until they settle things. She had no idea why and was unable to tell me when it should become available. I told her we really should have been notified in advance. Reading these posts makes me feel better in that I’m not alone. Hopefully it gets straightened out soon.

Wow, I guess we will see the last performance then. We have reservations for January 2 at 9:30. That is craziness if this is true.

So do we Jen! And I am really looking forward to seeing the show again.

Last cruise on the BA all five of us agreed ROA was the highlight of our cruise.

Friends of our were on a Breakaway sailing in July. About 2 weeks prior to the cruise they received a call that the ROA performance they had reserved was canceled. No reason was given. The representative was unable to tell them if they would be having any performances on their cruise.

Turns out, they were able to rebook a different day once onboard. They never did find out why. But occasionally they need to fix/replace equipment so maybe it was something like that. I guess we may never know why performances get canceled, but I doubt they would just cancel the entire show before the contract was up. They still have to pay all of the performers through the end of their contracts whether they perform or not. And their contracts are for ROA only, so it's not as if they could just use them somewhere else.

Loved the Rock of Ages show! We went back to watch it twice. Would have watched it a third time, but it was booked out! Let's hope if it's being replaced it's another great adult Broadway Show. If they are going to replace a show I wish it was the Blue Man Group on the Epic-now that's definitely not my cup of tea. 'Totally didn't get it!'

If it's true I am glad, I thought the show sucked and it was 3 years of my life I would never get back......

Or maybe it just felt like 3 years

Followup I looked at my ressies - Looks like a hiatus only

Jan 16 cruise - Zero shows available

January 30th cruise - Cirque Dreams & Dinner Jungle Fantasy only

Feb 13th cruise - Rock of Ages - The Second City - Cirque Dreams & Dinner Jungle Fantasy - Wine Lovers The Musical

IIRC, NCL cancelled ROA ressies this past spring without warning. It turned out to be a rescheduling of the days the show performs to be on sea says instead of port days. I doubt they are pulling the show from the line up all together. This is probably a logistics issue rather than a contractual issue. I suspect it will all pan out in the end.

To be clear, you get dibs on best DATES. Seats are not pre-reserved, they are first come, first served on the day of the show.

Your concierge however will likely escort you into the theatre through a back door, so you can be seated before the main doors open.

If the show is played in the main theatre (same place as Legally Blonde on Getaway) then they will probably have reserved (roped off) several rows from one side of the theatre's side seating for Haven guests, at least that's how it went on Getaway in April.

All of the shows when we went on BA in March were like this. They had several rows roped off on the far left section with an attendant who was there normally until 5 minutes before show started and then they took away the ropes. There was no concierge escort to the show - you just walked in.
