Back-To Back Cruises Question

We will be taking back-to-back cruises on the Conquest, in January 2015. Wondering if we have to disembark, when it returns to Ft Lauderdale, after the first cruise? Or are we permitted to stay on the ship, in a designated area?

Will we have the same dining room table assignment, or does this change?

Any info about back-to-back procedures, would be greatly appreciated.

You will get a letter the last night with a meeting place (usually ~ 10:30 or so) in the atrium. If you are staying in the same cabin, there is nothing else to do, if you are changing cabins - usually we seek out our new steward, and coordinate moving our stuff ourselves with them (you can put your stuff in your new safe and cabin, but you will not have a key to the door until the atrium meeting.) You meet in the atrium and wait with your passport/customs slip (which has nothing bought because you are not leaving the ship)

They will be in contact with customs, and they will give you your new cards, and walk you off the ship to customs and back on - it is a formality, but in the USA, the ship has to be completely empty of all passengers in order for them to clear it, so it is a little exercise. You will miss the picture station on the way back on the ship, if it is important to take embark pictures you do miss that.

Everything starts over - all accounts, dining assignment etc. You can see the maitre'd about you table assignment a few days before the first cruise ends and you can pretty much get whatever table you want.

Usually there will be a gift from the hotel manager for you in your cabin - fruit basket; champagne - it varies.

If you have a lot of diamond guest, they tend to take a group picture when you get back on with banners and such, but that is not done often. The platinum and diamonds follow you back on the ship - that is it

Thanks for the info about the back-to-back cruises. Wasn't sure how this worked. We do have the same cabin, for both cruises, so at least we won't have to move our belongings.

These are "free" cruises that we were offered from Carnival; first time for back-to-back.

Just did it in Miami a couple weeks ago on Glory. Met in Atrium, gave the staff member our card so she could ding us off the ship and gave us new cards. If you want to keep the old card, let them know so they will return it to you. We filled out the U.S. Customs card but didn't fill in any purchases at this time; did that at end of second week.

Staff will escort the group to customs, we handed over the card and then returned to ship. They had champagne & OJ waiting for us and then took a group photo. Delivered 2 8x10s of the photos to our room the next day. All very easy process.

Also, if you go to the gift shop last night of your first week, you can bring your liquor purchases directly back to your cabin.

I have a couple questions. If you purchase alcohol on the first leg of the trip is it delivered to you cabin on the last night before the second leg begins? Also if alcohol is purchased and delivered can you go to your car if parked at the lot to drop liquor off and anything else you claim and then grab 2 more bottles of wine to bring onboard? I'm just curious because only being limited on alcohol allowed back in the country with no tax it would seem unfair if you couldn't purchase as much. Also it would make sense for other purchases as well if you're close to hitting that $800 pp

As said before you will be escorted off & threw customs by the guest services manager. We have done quite a few B2B'S & since Sept. we have had a picture with a banner & a free drink after each one. We were alone for a few of them & we weren't diamond yet. In Sept. we did a B2B2B2B2B & have a picture of each one.

It is so cool because so many of the crew recognize you & just seem to enjoy that. I had one of the girls tell me it is neat for them also kinda like I know someone.

Fun when you see people standing at the elevator looking at the map trying to figure out where they are & of course you've been there & done that last week.

Enjoy & if you have any more questions just ask.

Our next B2B is on the Liberty in Dec. just got off one on Paradise ( two five day ) after you do one it is hard to do a single one again.

I do believe that is the case on delivering your liquor purchase to your room last night since they allow you to bring it directly to your room if purchased last night. On the Glory, both weeks they had 15% off everything in the gift shop first two nights. If that's the case on the Conquest, better (and cheaper) for you to purchase early on.

In the B2B info packet left in our room, there were two small tickets with notation "In Transit." These were to be used in the event you wanted to get off the ship and would allow you to get right back on, so you could drop off your purchases in your car -- just have to fill out the customs card with your purchases.

When you board for your first cruise, bring all 4 bottles of wine with you. Also bring the boarding pass for the second cruise. If you have a boarding pass for both cruises, you will be allowed to bring the allotted wine for the second cruise.

I wonder if that applies to non-alcoholic beverage (12/person) allotment too?

Have not heard one way or another but can't imagine that it would be a problem. The bigger problem is how to carry so much on board with you.

Do know that you can replenish your non alcoholic beverages in the ports of calls though.

An other thing on turn around day if we are in the same cabin ( always ) I put the SNOOZING sign out & tell our steward to skip our cabin in the mornin'. Just make my own bed & make straight things crooked & crooked things straight. That is such a busy day for them. Made a lot harder now with FTTF.

Also there will be a time when the water is very low pressure in the mornin' so get your shower early.

I bought liquor in one of our ports & turned it in at the desk when re-boarding the ship. I left my note out for the room steward to bring it to me on the last night of the first leg of our B2B. He told me it was marked as B2B so I wouldn't get it till the following week.

We hadn't either until this last set on the SENSATION the first of Sept. Also we were on the Paradise for two last week & even though we don't have to get off in Tampa they ask us all to come down to GS at 11:00 for our picture & drink.

I got a couple beers to go ( unopened bottle ) & had them for Happy Hr. that night.

On the Conquest for 10/12 and 10/19 cruises, a group photo was taken in the atrium upon "re-embarkation". Some of our group bypassed the picture taking and there was no pressure either way to join in or not. We were given champagne or apple cider for the picture "toast". There may have been B2B pax who decided they wanted to get off the ship entirely for the day and spend time in Miami.

Two 6x9 photos were delivered to my cabin on Thursday or Friday of the 2nd cruise.

I changed cabins from an inside to a balcony, and I transported my one carry on piece of luggage to my new room. It was quite interesting to see the stewards and other help making the cabins ready for the latest arrivals. Some cabins had new mattresses, others were turned over. Some cabins had pest control; others had carpet cleaned.

Enjoy! I hope you have a similar experience!

Very nice gesture on Carnival's part. Hope they have it for our B2B in January.
