Tam Tam Posted November 18, 2014 #27 Share Posted November 18, 2014 This year our steward gave us a Royal Caribbean corkscrew to keep when we wanted to open our bottles of wine. We normally bring our own but forgot so this will now stay in our luggage. It was very appreciated.
livinginyellow Posted November 18, 2014 #28 Share Posted November 18, 2014 Email the special request department prior to sailing and request one. special_needs@rccl.com Sad I didn't know about this before our cruise this weekend! Would have loved one.
phoenix1181 Posted November 18, 2014 #29 Share Posted November 18, 2014 Sad I didn't know about this before our cruise this weekend! Would have loved one. Ask you cabin Steward for one as soon as you see him or her. I've always gotten one & never requested it in advance. (didn't know I could)
1ParticularHbr Posted November 18, 2014 #30 Share Posted November 18, 2014 Ditto on the "egg crate" mattress topper. We ask for when we meet our steward and have always been able to get one. It makes a world of difference!
ksuds Posted November 18, 2014 #31 Share Posted November 18, 2014 Extra pillows- we each need 3 total Brown blanket Ice No towel animals-but that seems to give them a challenge of impressing us with something anyway. We always ask for slippers even though they say they don't have them any longer.
Paulette3028 Posted November 18, 2014 #32 Share Posted November 18, 2014 We ask that we have ice in our room all the time. We are really easy cruisers. Sometimes wine glasses if we have brought wine with us or if we have been given a bottle of wine as a gift from our TA that we know will be delivered to our cabin. grand isle joe Posted November 18, 2014 #33 Share Posted November 18, 2014 We're sailing on FOS next month with my in-laws, who have never taken a vacation like this before. I'm curious what are some of the favorite requests you make of your room steward that enhances your vacation? I didn't realize at first that you could ask that the ice bucket always be kept full. It's now something I really appreciate! Of course, we always tip accordingly for any extra requests we make. Stop pestering me about your tip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
grand isle joe Posted November 18, 2014 #34 Share Posted November 18, 2014 Egg crate and ice twice a day. On a seven day cruise, where do you store 14 egg crates?.................:D.
PCWalton1 Posted November 18, 2014 #35 Share Posted November 18, 2014 What's always nice is what you can do for him/her. Always put the "Room is ready to be cleaned" card in your key slot so they know when you're away and therefore won't disturb you if you're still in the cabin. And vice versa, the "do no disturb" sign if you don't want to be disturbed. Hope you have a fantastic cruise!! Just be sure to put out the right one. I mistakenly put out the 'do not disturb' (yes I know they are different color:p) when we went off ship for a day long excursion while in Turkey. Our room steward was so happy to see us when we got back as we actually didn't get back to the cabin till after the ship had sailed. He thought that maybe there was something wrong and was about to contact his supervisor to see if he should knock. :o
joandian Posted November 18, 2014 #36 Share Posted November 18, 2014 My only requests are for a feather/down pillow and that the ice bucket be kept filled.

JJean Posted November 19, 2014 #38 Share Posted November 19, 2014 I always ask for a top sheet, many cruise lines do not put them on the bed.
TEXASMUNK Posted November 19, 2014 #39 Share Posted November 19, 2014 Please call us Jim and Sue. And, they get a greeting whenever we see them in the hallway! These folks work very hard, they deserve their gratuity, our respect and our thanks! Oh yeah, we also ask for wine glasses...

I so wish I could get my steward to do that, ie call me by my first name, I really dislike being called sir or mister, but when I say please call me Geoff I get Mr Geoff, which makes herself laugh because when we first met I was helping run some holiday groups and that's what the kids called me and she would do the same. Bailey & Sophie Posted November 19, 2014 #42 Share Posted November 19, 2014 Always extra hangers. We request NO ICE...we're not in there enough to use it and it just melts. They don't use top sheets? Ewwwww

Yes!! I always sail with my daughter and everyone calls us Mrs. Ann and Miss Kirsty. It's so cute, makes me want to give them a hug. :)

You should understand it is the corporate training that they are following and don't want in any way to 'compromise' their job, should their supervisor overhear them speaking to you. In this case, they are trying to accommodate speaking to you in a more relaxed way, but still following company policy.
