6 cruises and only used the lift once!

On boarding our very first cruise we didn't know what to expect and as soon as we were welcomed on board we were shown to the lift to take us to the relevant floor for our stateroom. That was the first and last time we have used the lift and have now spent approx 80 days at sea and have only ever used the stairs. Do you make any little rules whilst on board?

Spend at least a few minutes on my balcony or on an open deck every day no matter the weather.

we try not to use the elevators ......we use the stairs as our excuse as exercise......so we can eat more .....:D:eek::rolleyes:

I was on the QV 94 day World Voyage this year and did not use the elevator/ lift the entire trip. Helps keeping the weight in check.

We use the stairs as a form of exercise too so that the extra food and those pre dinner cocktails don't feel quite so naughty! We also live in a bungalow so I think we find stairs quite novel :)

I live in a 3 storey house and I`m up and down the stairs all day

 

I have been on 5 cruises and always try not to use the lifts if possible as I have spent 5 years in a 3 storey house, its second nature now to be climbing stairs all day at home or on a ship, even at work !!

We use the stairs as much as possible. The only exception is embarkation and disembarkation since we have carry ons and also if my wife is in heels on a formal night.

I think I've used the lifts, maybe twice on all my cruises. I used them once on QE2 on a very rough cruise, and who was in the cab with me, staff captain Nick Bates! Within that short ride we made arrangements for drinks that night. :D

I use stairs frequently, but my knees object to anything over four decks at a time. But the knees are fine with walking and I do three laps of the promenade deck before breakfast - weather permitting, of course.

Our rule on QM2 used to be walk down five decks and up two decks. But last year our aged achy knees encouraged us to break the rule on occasion.

Beat you ! On our 2007 Aurora World Cruise I never used the lifts at all ! About 100 days ..... You just get used to it.
