Can you prepay for item & pay using your your OBC ?

If you prepay for entertainment or dinner before the cruise, I do not think you can use your OBC to pay. You would need to pay via your credit card. But once on board, could you ask them to refund your card and take the money out of your OBC?

Sorry no. OBC is for onboard. If you change onboard they will just add the refund to your onboard account not refunded to your credit card.

No, I don't think they will do that. Book on-board if you want to pay using your OBC.

No it cannot if your talking about the Daily Service Charge. It can be used to tip the Butler and Concierge if your in a suite.

To use OBC to tip Butler, Concierge or Room Steward or other crew member you feel deserving you need their full name as listed on the crew members shipboard account, then go to guest services and ask for a fund transfer form its like a check voucher, it transfers the funds from your account to the crew member. It's a carbon copy handwritten form so that you keep a copy and give a copy to the crew member you are tipping.

So, the scenario is this. We have the UDP, my sister took the $200 OBC. We want to book the cirque show when my family can get it free. My sister would like to go same night but use her OBC to pay. We are worried if she waits to book on board, it will be booked up. If they do allow her to return/rebuy it on board, it would appear the show could be purchased with OBC funds; the credit on her account could be used for the daily service charge. Would that work?

Probably not. If she want's the guarantee of having the show, she needs to pay for it. If she wants to use OBC, she needs to be onboard.

After boarding you can use the OBC for almost anything, but not prior to embarkation.

Thanks for the replies. My sister has the UBP with OBC, so she wants to make sure she can spend the OBC ( what a great problem to have! ). The casino question is great - is there a way to spend money in the casino with your OBC?

Yes, but they will charge you 3% for doing it.

If you mean the 15% tip on things like drinks, YES. If you mean the Daily Service Charge, then it depends.

 

OBC you get from NCL typically can't be used for the Daily Service Charge. It shows up on your TV as "nonrefundable" credit.

 

OBC you get from your TA may often be "refundable" and that *can* be used for the Daily Service Charge.

Most things CAN be booked onboard, so there's no real need to book stuff in advance..especially, if you have a large OBC.
