pdsh169 Posted January 4, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 4, 2015 Hi all, new to the board, never cruised before. Apologies if any of my questions have been asked previously, but here goes. We are looking for fly/cruise ideas from North America for 1-2 weeks, then meeting up with our kids in Orlando. Suggestions please, also suggested Cruise lines, best time to book for best price etc. Looking to travel Late June/early July 2016. Cheers.
paul929207 Posted January 4, 2015 #2 Share Posted January 4, 2015 Welcome to Cruise Critic. If you are meeting your kids in Orlando, you will probably want to take a cruise ending there or at least in Florida. This will reduce the cost to get to the meet up point. June & July are prime vacation times in the US, so you will not get the lowest prices. I don't think the cruise schedules are out for mid 2016 yet, but they stay pretty consistent from year to year, so you can look at 2015 for an idea of offerings and costs. I would suggest you talk to a trael agent specializing in cruises.
cb at sea Posted January 4, 2015 #3 Share Posted January 4, 2015 Look for a cruise CLOSE to Orlando....Orlando is NOT a port...it's in central Florida. Port Canaveral, Jacksonville or Tampa are your closest ports.
MSN-Travelers Posted January 5, 2015 #4 Share Posted January 5, 2015 (edited) To recap . . . you are coming from the UK, want to cruise for 7-14 days and end your cruise close to Orlando. Then you will meet up with your kids who will be waiting for you in Orlando. Assuming you will booking a cruise from the UK, you will face a different set of rules than the folks in the US & Canada work with. Hopefully somebody from the UK will answer. As for the cruise itself, look at anything sailing out of Port Canaveral, Port Everglades or the Port of Miami. All three have good transportation options available between Orlando Airport, Fort Lauderdale Airport or Miami Airport. Welcome to CC and good luck. Krazy Kruizers Posted January 5, 2015 #5 Share Posted January 5, 2015 Welcome to Cruise Critic. Cruises out of the ports in Ft Lauderdale are way fewer in the summer months so your choices will be less. Many of the ships head to Europe, Alaska and a few go to Canada/New England. RCI and Carnival still have ships sailing out of Florida in June and July.
