Golden Plaza Deck Question

On a TA voyage on the Ruby last fall we booked interior cabin P330 near the Piazza and liked the location and easy access by way of a door at the front of the international cafe.

However looking at the Golden floor plan, access to the same row of port side cabins appears (according to Princess Deckplans) to require you to pass behind the international cafe. On the Ruby the hall access door was in front of the IC since the IC was along the outer hull of the ship. On the Golden the IC is in the middle of the ship.

My questions are the doors and narrow passageway behind the IC shown for the Golden kept open, allowing easy access to these cabins?

No.

The only access to the cabins are through the Art Gallery (from the Piazza). There are about 4 interior cabins and 7 ocean view cabins that share the "private" hallway.

You will need to exit your cabin (turn toward the elevators/bow) and walk out to the little lobby that leads into the Art Gallery. These are ideal staterooms because it is so quiet and no foot traffic.

Interesting. What about the hall on the starboard side with the access door in the Vines bar area? Is that path open?

No problem just passing in front of the IC and through the doors to the plaza deck cabins. They are just on one side of the hall on the Golden rather than both sides like on the Ruby.

It looks like access to the staterooms on the Piaza Golden deck is through the art gallery. We were on the Golden in October and will be boarding her again on Saturday so we can look at that time. However I don't remember any access from either the IC or vines area. There are a lot of staterooms up towards the bow on the Piaza deck both exterior and interior.

There are usually offices and a crew only entrance. I know the GM's office is back there but the setup is a little different on the ships where the IC was built when the ship was built.

As others have mentioned, you'll need to go forward a bit, and then cut back through the Fine Art Gallery to access the Piazza and the International Cafe. Here's a photo of the International Cafe on the Golden. The hallway at the end of the passenger cabins would lead right into the crew area of the IC if it continued:

Thanks for the photo. That is what I suspected might be the case based on the deck plan. Basically you'd be staying on a deadend hallway it appears with access only from the bow direction.

Another question:

The deck plan for the plaza deck doesn't show a self service laundry on that level. Is this correct? It seems to state there is one on each deck but doesn't show one here.

From the deck plans it appears that aft on Emerald deck is the nearest laundry.

As far as access it is just a short trip through the art gallery and around 4 cabins to access the hallway.

That is what I'm seeing also but their other deck plans state each deck (with cabins) have a laundry on them.

In November on the Star, we were booked in a Plaza ocean view room and it was Great! The room was perfectly located, very quiet, easy access for disembarkation on port days and great for going up to the show or getting a cup of coffee or snack at Horizon.

On the Star, the laundry was right across the hall.

I would recommend if you can get one of the rooms.

Which "other" deck plans are you seeing? Just curious.

Mike:)

Sorry. I meant to write that per other pages on Princess' site I'm swing it.

When selecting an interior on decks 5-8 the description reads:

Lower Decks (5-8)

Vista Lounge, Sabatini's, Explorers Lounge, Grand Casino and Princess Theater are nearby on the Promenade Deck 7.

Main dining rooms are located on decks 5 and 6.

Laundromat available on decks 5 and 8 only.

So this states there is one on deck 5 (Plaza).
