Live from Quantum Jan 11th and Loving it!!!!

Recommended Posts

Agree 100%. To add to what you've said.....I noticed a lack of Hand Sanitizer machines around the ship, especially outside other restaurants. When I asked about this I was told they were expecting a delivery of more when the ship docked on Dec 12.

Purell sanitizers are at every restaurant entrance with 2 on each side of the Windjammer. They are also on the pool deck, solarium, casino, and when you get back on the ship.

We always take individually wrapped 62% alcohol wipes and use them after touching menus and food serving instruments that others have touched. We do this on land as well. These illnesses are not just on the ships. We have to take extra precaution due to my hubbies low immune system.:)

Update: Hubby is back to normal thanks to the great medical team here:)

Dynamic Dining: We love this!! I had made reservations a long time ago but we have so far not used a single one. We have been able to walk in as long as you get there before 630 pm or after 730 pm. American Icon was serving lobster the night we went and although we were so tempted to get it, we had already had it at the Grande, but found out American Icon cooks and serves their lobster different than Grande by not using the creamy sauce the Grande uses.

We have seen plenty of people dressed up going to the Grande, and then we have our smart casuals and also plenty of folks wearing shorts at dinner. You cannot show up in a swimsuit. So these restaurants are just like Florida restaurants where you can go in as casual as u like.

I don't think people should complain about it until you try it. The servers we had remember you if you go there a second time which amazes me after serving so many people.

Last night was bumper cars rock and roll! Great fun and the majority of the folks are baby boomers like myself reliving our childhood with the classic rock playing and the DJ overhead.

Today is already packing day....wish we could stay longer. We have never felt cramped in this balcony room and it is designed as such that i am able to get up earlier without disturbing hubby.

More later...I do have a ton of pics but the other live reviewer is doing a wonderful job in showing you the beauty of this ship:)

Glad that hubby is feeling better.

We were in American Icon twice on our cruise. Nothing approaching lobster. It looks like the menus throughout the ship are a "work in progress".

Hi Trainman!!!! Happy New Year!

What d you mean?

The Diamond Lounge was so overwhelmed that rather than have you wait for your drinks there, you were able to use your SeaPass card at various bars throughout the ship between 5:00 and 8:30. They loaded 3 no charge "basic" drinks (the bartenders know which ones are free) onto the card.

We just got off Quantum of the Seas early Friday am and it is a WOW! The ship while boxy looking on the outside is packed with so many superlatives it is hard to know where to begin. So I while run through a quick list: sky diving at sea can be done (IFly)...hovering over three hundred feet above the ship while moving (North Star)...Broadway quality shows (Mama Mia) and new concept shows (Sonic Odyssey and StarWater)...SeaPlex for bumper cars roller skating and basketball..etc Special treat from the Captain FREE WI- FI for the entire cruise. The horrors we read about with dynamic dining did not appear. Oh we did have to wait five minutes to get into Silk. The assistant waiters are back but they have almost the other direction with more wait staff at each table. We were part of a focus group with RC execs and gave our input. They are working on tech issues and Dynamic Dining is being tweeked. MAKE YOUR RESERVATIONS IN ADVANCE AND CHECK BEFORE YOU GO. If you have trouble COMPLAIN. RC will work with you. We were unable to book Wonderland but talked to management and got in. You have options on Quanrum. Like to dress up try the Grande (main dining room)...New exotic food Wonderland. All in all had a great time! FREE TIP: to work your stateroom lights you must insert your sea pass card into the lughr contril by the door. BON VOYAGE!

Glad that you had a great time.

Yes if you don't complain no one knows that there is a problem and nothing happens. Dynamic Dining is a work in progress and it sounds like it has been fine-tuned since the 12/12 sailing.

When I spoke with the woman from Adam Goldstein's office I had suggested a focus group. I guess that they took me up on my suggestion.

Happy sailing!!

When I read your review I was sad to hear how sick your DH became, but glad to hear all is well.

I dont know if I am quite ready to sail on this ship.

It sounds nice, but I am concerned that the Atlantic might be too turbulent for us.

We love the hot Caribbean routes.

Although your posts may make me consider this ship.

Thanks

Safe travels
