Balconies question

We will be sailing on the Ruby Princess in July. Our daughter and son-in-law have the room next to us. Do the dividers on the balconies open so that we could have a shared balcony? We are on the Riveria deck.

Yes, unless your cabins are separated by a firewall (there's a little door icon in the passageway on the deck plans, and your cabin numbers start with a different numeral). For example, look at the deck plans: between R504 and R602, you'll see the little doorway and so those two balconies will not have a connecting door.

This is not true on all Princess ships. Many have the connecting doorway even when there is an inside firewall.

The door between the balconies is two foot wide, and is at the cabin bulkhead side of the divider. The door allows passage between the two balconies but does not make for a single large open balcony.

We had side by side balconies last week on the Regal. The balcony divider was opened right up so we could walk right through to each stateroom. We used a small cushion to stop the divider from hitting the glass, as well as keeping the divider away from the sliding glass door so it opens.

Last year on the Royal, the divider wouldn't open as far....we had to sort of squeeze through. Not sure if it was our fault for not trying to open it further or that was as far as it opened.

Either way, makes for a larger balcony for all of us, and very convenient.
