Activity Managers onboard Royal Ships

I have tried to keep put into this thread as much of the current information as I can find or that cruisers give me as they sail. If someone else has other resources and would like to take it over, that is fine. My direct contact is pbhalpern@hotmail.com.

****Adventure OTS – Daniel Dornas will continue on AD when theship finishes her drydock until April, he has told me.

****Allure OTS – GrantMartin is back onboard as of 1/28 for 4 months.

****Anthem OTS – Enzo Majijaca is the AM since October. Enzo goes on vacation on 2/9 and upon hisreturn may be going to Brilliance. I amhoping to learn who is coming on board when Enzo departs until April. Tornado Tanya has announced via FB that shegoes to Anthem in April.

****Brilliance OTS – Flavio Maeda is currentlyon. Based on what I have been told he should be there until early February whenCecy del Razo will be joining the ship perhaps only for 2 months when EnzoMajiijaca will join Brilliance

****Empress OTS – Mauricio Diaz is onboard until mid February 2018.

****Enchantment OTS – TT Algon is stillonboard. A cruiser sailed with him onthe October 27th Enchantment sailing. IF a current cruiser could ask TT when doesthis contract end for him that would be nice and if the plan is for him toreturn after his vacation.

****Explorer OTS – Aysy Sadrislamova has been onboard ship since 11/19 and until2/9/18 and then she will move to Freedom from 2/11 to 3/17.

****Freedom OTS – AlexanderSchmidt joined the ship on Dec 6. Tryingto find out from him directly if this is a 2 or 4 month contract.

****Grandeur OTS – Tornado Tanya will be departing GR on 2/10/18for vacation. I have been told that sheis expected to be on Anthem in the Spring, which would probably mean mid April. Looking to learn WHO is taking over from heron 2/10?

*****Harmony – Katy McCullagh has 12/9until 2/3/18 when Jerry may be returning.

****Independence OTS – Mark Rous should have started his vacation inmid January (based on what he has told me). WHO is currently on board? Mark Rous returns to Indy on May 20 – againfrom what he has told me.

*****LibertyOTS – Katrina Blair took over as AM on1/14 perhaps for 4 months.

*****Mariner OTS – Kitty Xu Meng Lang iscurrently onboard until Feb 8, when the ship goes for a short drydock. Then inMarch 2018 Renato Arana is scheduled to be onboard.

*****Navigator OTS – Daniel Edwards seems to be onboard currently as per recent news. If he is stillonboard when I sail on Navigator in February, I will meet a new AM. Yippee!

*****Oasis OTS – Margot Van Erck is onboarduntil 2/11/18 then vacation and unsure where she is heading after her vacation. Tresha Robb has told me that she is headingto Oasis in February.

***** Quantum – Bonnie Bai is onboard as of the information Ireceived on 12/10. I don’t know when shestarted, so therefore can’t guess as to when her contract completes.

*****Radiance OTS – Saini Gupta was on the11/18 to 11/29 sailing….don’t have any information as to when he started or howlong he will be on the ship. Mark Rous has informed me that he joins this shipon March 1 until May 20.

**** Rhapsody OTS – Eric Lopez, unknown start sotherefore can’t speculate on when he leaves….any help is appreciated.

**** Serenade OTS – Alison Hasler has beenpromoted to AM as of 1/15 on Serenade.

**** Symphony OTS – As Symphony gets closer to Amy Tripp isin Miamigetting her ready for sailing. Margotvan Erck has announced she will take over from Amy. I have reached out to Amy to learn if theyknow the date of that handoff yet.

***** Vision OTS – Talita Leoni has been reported to me as the AMon Vision. Renato Arana takes over fromher at the end of January 2018.

*****Voyager OTS – Marvin Wilson took over from Troy Zhang whosigned off on October 18, 2017. Troy will return at theend of February, with this being a longer vacation.

Seen several clips of Grant on YouTube and he seems fun.

 

I have to admit that despite frequenting this thread, I only really paid attention to the AM on two separate cruises (Anthem & Harmony), and didn't care for the AM on either of them. I definitely think that a great AM can definitely enhance a cruise as a good CD would, but I think that I am yet to come across Royal's best AM's. Frankie Portera was good, alongside Steve Davis, who is now a CD. Chris Hopkins was also good, but wasn't the official AM on our sailing, and we instead got lumbered with Katrina. Fingers crossed that Margot on Symphony will be good.

 

I will say I have been fortunate to have had some very good AM's and CD's. I would never sail just for the CD or AM, but they can make it more fun (at least that has been our experience).

 

The first time we really understood what a good AM was when we sailed on Jewel and had Elvis Pinto (now Elvis is a CD). He was fabulous. He made the cruise, a crazy fun experience. I call going on a cruise --- like going to Camp for Adults and the CD and AM or the camp counselors.

I don't see Tino Jackson mentioned anywhere. Anyone know what's up with him? We had him on Rhapsody and again on Harmony and he was outstanding. Sure would love to find out he is on one of my cruises!

A lot of the best AM's seem to have left Royal now - Darryl, Erky, Frankie - to name a few. Chris was good but will likely get another contract as CD soon. Elvis is another great AM who is now CD.

 

Some of the current AM's just aren't quite the same. Never been wowed by them. I just hope that Margot is up there with the good ones, as I will have her on SY.

 

Like CD's, AM's have their own personality. Some have 'big personalities', some 'fun personalities', some host great events without 'fanfare' -- all can be good yet different. What makes for a good AM and CD to me, is getting the cruisers involved in what is going on around the ship or during the event they are hosting.

 

I must give off a vibe that says 'Pull me into the activity' and I will go....so therefore I always feel involved. Some activities like Quest -- I would rather watch; but in others it is different. NO one personality style is best but what makes for a great AM or CD is an outgoing personality -- not necessarily 'clownish' or 'over the top' but personable and engaging. I have learned that on the bigger ships, the CD's have so much to do to keep the activities and entertainment flowing all day...but I have never found a CD too busy to talk when just walking around the ship making sure things are going smoothly.

****Adventure OTS – Daniel Dornas will continue on AD when theship finishes her drydock until April, he has told me.

 

****Allure OTS – Grant Martin is back onboard as of 1/28 for 4months.

 

****Anthem OTS – Enzo Majijaca is the AM since October. Enzo goes on vacation on 2/9 and upon hisreturn may be going to Brilliance. Caroline Peters will take over on 2/9/18until Tornado Tanya comes onboard in April. Tanya did put on FB that she goesto Anthem in April.

 

****Brilliance OTS – Flavio Maeda is currentlyon. Based on what I have been told he should be there until early February whenCecy del Razo will be joining the ship perhaps only for 2 months when EnzoMajiijaca will join Brilliance

 

****Empress OTS – Mauricio Diaz is onboard until mid February 2018.

 

****Enchantment OTS – TT Algon is stillonboard. A cruiser sailed with him onthe October 27th Enchantment sailing. Is TT Algon still onboard?

*****RadianceOTS – Saini Gupta was on the 11/18 to 11/29 sailing….don’t have any informationas to when he started or how long he will be on the ship. Mark Rous hasinformed me that he joins this ship on March 1 until May 20.

Bad news for you - Tino Jackson has left Royal now and is joining HAL in February. He will be AM for 1 contract then CD.

 

Wow, good for him, bad for me. But I did just book a HAL cruise for next year--maybe I'll luck out and have him as my CD!!!

I don't see Tino Jackson mentioned anywhere. Anyone know what's up with him? We had him on Rhapsody and again on Harmony and he was outstanding. Sure would love to find out he is on one of my cruises!

That is bad news for us that Tino has left. I had him as an AM on Serenade and again on the Harmony TA and he was fabulous. His TV appearances with Carly B on Serenade were hysterical!

 

 

Our lose is HAL's gain and good luck to him in his new role...he will make a fantastic Cruise Director.
