got2gocruzn Posted February 11, 2015 #1 Share Posted February 11, 2015 Just off the Reflection, and they don't allow smoking inside the ship... at all!!!! Well done Celebrity!!! and may I say , I wish other cruise lines would follow your lead.. and Amazingly YES the Casino was still busy.. the week before we were on the NCL Getaway and dined at their specialty restaurant. The whole experience was spoiled by the smoke from the casino one deck above.. Colleen
Wine-O Posted February 11, 2015 #2 Share Posted February 11, 2015 Welcome to Celebrity -- where have you been? :) It's been this way for around 6-8 years. No smoking on balconies either. Just 3-4 designated places on the ship, so if you know where they are, you can avoid them completely.

Except for the occupants of a cabin upwind of ours who must have thought it did not apply to them.... We're on starboard side and the offenders were successfully hidden by balcony dividers. Silverman Posted February 11, 2015 #8 Share Posted February 11, 2015 I don't smoke. But Thanks for reminding me why I shouldn't sail on Celebrity. It really saddens me when everyone thinks they can take away your rights. No need to say well what about my rights? I don't need to smell it. Just like me. If you don't like it go somewhere else. I wish they would get rid of all the alcohol. If you get rid of one bad thing you need get rid of all the bad things.

No, they haven't, so people can smoke if they like, no rights have been taken away from them. It is just that Celebrity, like all cruise lines, hotels, resorts, cities, towns, etc., decides where the smoking areas are.

It's really very simple. If smokers do not wish to smoke in the designated outdoor areas, they can select a different cruise line where smoking is allowed in more places. No one is taking away anyone's rights. Hope you are enjoying the other cruise lines :) Oh, and don't forget to hold your breath when you walk through those other cruise line's casinos. And as for your suggestion that they get rid of alcohol, that's not exactly a good comparison. Someone having a drink doesn't make someone else sick. On the other hand, second hand smoke CAN make non-smokers sick. Have a wonderful day :)

Heh, personally I've never had any sort of debilitating reaction to someone drinking in my vicinity. Someone smoking, on the other hand, can send me to the hospital with an asthma attack. That is not an experience I would like to have on a boat with limited medical facilities. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for personal rights. When the exercising of your personal rights causes other people unavoidable medical distress, however... That's a fine balance that I feel Celebrity has done a good job of striking. In fact, Celebrity's smoking policy is one of the reasons that they have my business.

Their (Celebrity's) smoking policy is one of the MAIN reasons we are trying Celebrity for the first time. On our previous NCL cruises, the casino smoke was so bad, we smelled like smoke after simply walking THROUGH the casino. We couldn't even sit in the casino long enough to gamble. (We HAD to walk through the casino to get to certain venues, unless we wanted to go back, walk up a deck, walk across, then walk back down.) We are looking forward to having comfortable access to ALL areas of the ship on our upcoming Celebrity cruise.

Chitown12562 Posted February 11, 2015 #16 Share Posted February 11, 2015 On our last NCL cruise we tried to avoid the casino whenever possible so as not to smell like smoke. We would have gamble a bit too, but it wasn't worth the stink. The No Smoking policy on Celebrity one one of the main reasons we tried it and still love it today. IMO all Cruise lines should do the same. We also like the idea Celebrity welcomes you aboard with a smile, greeting (all Cruise lines do that) and a drink (champagne/sprakling wine, orange juice or mimosa)

buddrs Posted February 11, 2015 #19 Share Posted February 11, 2015 That must have been the stateroom we occupied on the Reflection recently. Hidden in an out-of-the way place on the balcony was a huge drinking cup overflowing with cigarette butts.

thebutlerdidit Posted February 11, 2015 #21 Share Posted February 11, 2015 Our first cruise was in 2010, and a little research showed us which line had the strictest smoking policy. It's actually the only reason we chose (and choose to remain with) Celebrity. So yes - Well Done!

bvocruise Posted February 11, 2015 #24 Share Posted February 11, 2015 We like HAL but are trying celebrity because of their smoking policy. HAL allows both cigarettes and cigars all over the ship and it is hard to escape the smoke. I would consider HAL the smokers cruise line.
Rare cbr663 Posted February 11, 2015 #25 Share Posted February 11, 2015 That's strange as we were on the Jan 31st sailing on there were definitely passengers smoking on the ship. We passed them several times. Tell me OP, did you happen to visit the Lawn Club Grill area at all?
