Maticus22 Posted February 17, 2015 #1 Share Posted February 17, 2015 Huge WOW moment from recent cruise on Navigator. My 4 yr daughter on the first sea day drew a picture in the cabin and wanted to give it to the captain. The next morning my wife and daughter took it to Guest Services and asked if they would give it to the captain. We had hope that the captain would send a note saying thank you or stop by our table and say hello, we could never have imagined what happened next. So we didn't hear anything till Saturday the last sea day when we got a phone call at 10 in the morning from Guest Services. Our captain loved the picture so much that he invited our entire family up to the bridge for a personal tour with him. We were escorted by security up to the bridge where he was waiting for us with the picture in hand. He let both of our children "drive the boat" from the old fashioned wheel, introduced us to everyone on the bridge at the time, and explained everything to us and answered any questions we had. Oh yeah I was allowed to bring my camera and take as many pictures as I wanted. In all it lasted almost 45 mins and we got a couple pictures at the end of our family with him. A big kudos to Capt Aris Medina as this was totally unexpected and greatly appreciated!

Cruisegoer Posted February 17, 2015 #8 Share Posted February 17, 2015 I doubt a drawing from a 43 year old passenger would go over quite as well as one from a toddler.
cruisewkid Posted February 18, 2015 #9 Share Posted February 18, 2015 All I can say is "WOW!" Boy, you do remember stuff like that forever, don't you?! I've had a few of those moments at Disney - but never on a cruise! Although we wont be trying it, if he is our captain in April, I will feel like I am sailing with a good guy! Rare nimbex1970 Posted February 19, 2015 #12 Share Posted February 19, 2015 What an incredibly special moment:D For those of us who have never seen the bridge, would you share a pic? I understand if you don't wish to post family pics, as some don't share internet pics of their kids... a general one ? While I'm jealous, I am excited to hear about those special moments created by not only the crew, but the captain!! I think it was on the Allure, the captain kept his cycle on board and was riding it on the docks, stopped and posed for pictures with some passengers, that was great to see. krev Posted February 19, 2015 #13 Share Posted February 19, 2015 That's really wonderful and something you will always remember. We had a similar experience on our 2011 Caribbean cruise. In our instance my work mates husband use to be in the Coast Guard with our Captains wife, he emailed her and she took us to the bridge for sail away from St Lucia, it is something we will always remember. We didn't get to "drive" the boat though!

That being said, what a memorable moment for the entire family. I think for the captain too, espically if he has little ones at home that could be missing. A true WOW moment. Just looked through my pictures and all but one has the kids in them. That one is from the wing bridge looking down the length of the ship. Will have to figure out how to compress the file and will upload it as it is 5mb file.
