GulfShoresCruiser Posted March 11, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 11, 2015 (edited) On the NA Sunday. Could use guidance on the dining strategy. This is the itinerary: Sun FLL, Mon HMC, Tues Sea, Wed Cayman, Thur Cozumel, Fri Sea, Sat Key West, Sun FLL..... My guess is: Formal nights are Tuesday and Friday & Mariner brunch is Thursday. Any intel on this? Thinking through our strategy around where to dine and when and these events impact our carefully orchestrated dining plan!!!!! Thanks CC HAL folks.......Bring it on. CruiserBruce Posted March 11, 2015 #2 Share Posted March 11, 2015 The Mariner Lunch will be Friday. I think you are correct on the Formal nights.

As CruiserBruce mentioned above, I doubt they would have a Mariner Lunch on Thursday as the NA arrives in Cozumel at 10 AM and too many Mariners would be off the ship. sail7seas Posted March 11, 2015 #4 Share Posted March 11, 2015 I agree with the others about Mariner's Brunch but suggest it is possible they could have Monday as formal night. They probably won't but it is not out of the question.
Saphire Posted March 11, 2015 #5 Share Posted March 11, 2015 I sailed this itinerary last March on the NA, and formal nights were Monday (Half Moon Cay) and Friday (sea day). The Mariner Brunch was on Friday. Enjoy!
Rare POA1 Posted March 11, 2015 #6 Share Posted March 11, 2015 We did your exact itinerary on the Nieuw Amsterdam twice last year. One in mid November, once in December. The formal nights were the sea days.
rbp3072 Posted March 11, 2015 #7 Share Posted March 11, 2015 Formal nights were in the two sea days last week, and are the same for this week. I imagine it'll be the same for next week. Enjoy your cruise!
GulfShoresCruiser Posted March 11, 2015 Author #8 Share Posted March 11, 2015 Thanks for the info folks! We will plan for the two formal nights to be the sea days (Tues & Fri) and the Mariner Brunch on Friday....and adjust as needed! So ready to get on that ship! Thanks! Boatdrill Posted March 11, 2015 #9 Share Posted March 11, 2015 (edited) Did this trip last month. Everyone is right about the formal nights (sea days) and Mariner's Lunch (Friday). Just want to add that in Cozumel, there's an evening deck party/bbq by the Lido pool. Edited March 11, 2015 by Boatdrill
GulfShoresCruiser Posted March 11, 2015 Author #10 Share Posted March 11, 2015 Thanks BoatDrill....adding the deck party to the dining itinerary.... We like to do have a variety of dinning choices and avoid up-charge locations, so these are the choices/options/not to miss thus far: 1) 2 MDR Formals (Tues & Fri) 2) Mariner Embarkation Lunch in MDR (Sun) 3) Mariner Brunch (Fri) 4) B'fast on balcony (pick a day or two) 5) Dinner on balcony (pick a non formal day) 6) Lunch at Tamarind (still no surcharge for lunch, right?, Tues) 7) Deck party/dinner (Thur) 8) HMC BBQ (Mon) The remaining meals will be primarily in the MDR with a small dose of Lido.......The dining dance card is full! Any other options?

Any other options? Be aware that, depending on how many Mariners are on board, there may be multiple seatings. On my just-concluded Westerdam trip, we had 1,100 Mariners, so they held both a "brunch" at 11:00am and a "lunch" at 1.00pm. The menu was exactly the same for both, though; i.e., the food was lunch-type stuff, not breakfast. You won't know which one you'll be at until you get the invitation, probably a day or two before. Edit To Add: I always pencil in the Royal Dutch High Tea, too. Usually later in the cruise, probably on the 2nd formal day. Dinner in Tamarind is very different than lunch. I suppose that might be why dinner has a upcharge.
Laurino Posted March 11, 2015 #15 Share Posted March 11, 2015 I loved the 'Cannonball' burger at the Dive-In, made a great lunch by the Lido pool.
GulfShoresCruiser Posted March 11, 2015 Author #16 Share Posted March 11, 2015 Adding Dive In (and possibly the Cannonball Burger) to the list...That will be good after a morning on the beach in Grand Cayman. Question about ordering dinner to eat on our balcony. I know the routine for ordering breakfast with the card on the door the night before but how does one go about ordering dinner for "take out" or delivery to the cabin?
