napunani Posted March 15, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 15, 2015 Does anyone have an update on whether the Princess@Sea Messenger is available on the Royal Princess? "The Princess@Sea Messenger is integrated in the complimentary Princess@Sea web app, via the browser on your smartphone or tablet. Check on the day's events and activities, review the ship's itinerary and port guides, browse the restaurant menus, and even access your stateroom account — and now the Princess@Sea Messenger lets you do even more. Instantly Make Plans and Share Experiences With the Princess@Sea Messenger, you can instantly connect with other guests onboard."
napunani Posted March 15, 2015 Author #2 Share Posted March 15, 2015 I've looked throughout the PRINCESS website - no mention of PRINCESS@SEA messenger, so I emailed Customer Service. I was able to find the App and download, but states you must be connected with the ship's Wifi.
jagsfan Posted March 15, 2015 #3 Share Posted March 15, 2015 From what I understand, what's available is the capability to read Patters, etcetera. What I'm interested in is being able to text between pax while on the cruise through Princess's intranet. I think it's already available on Regal??? We'll be on Royal on the 29th. Astro Flyer Posted March 15, 2015 #4 Share Posted March 15, 2015 (edited) The free Princess@Sea intranet for activities, accounts, etc has been available since I sailed on the Royal in October 2013. Recent posts say that the ability to send text messengers to other passengers has been added to this system which is not an app but I do not recall which ships have added text messenging. The messenger app (iOS or Android) is available before a cruise & adds a notification option to messenging. In a month I'll be on the Regal & learn if the app duplicates all functions of the Princess@Sea intranet or not. Pam in CA Posted March 15, 2015 #5 Share Posted March 15, 2015 I've looked throughout the PRINCESS website - no mention of PRINCESS@SEA messenger, so I emailed Customer Service. I was able to find the App and download, but states you must be connected with the ship's Wifi.True. However, you just need a device that can connect to Wifi. The app and Princess@Sea use the ship's Intranet, not Internet, so there's no charge. It's free to connect with Princess Messenger and Princess@Sea. sawtooth Posted March 15, 2015 #6 Share Posted March 15, 2015 We sailed the Royal 1/18 cruise. Messenger was NOT available yet on that cruise.
NickAndysMom Posted March 16, 2015 #7 Share Posted March 16, 2015 Pam, I know you were just on the Grand. Were you able to access any of the capabilities on that ship? We board later this week & would love to know! Thanks, Beverly
tully07 Posted March 16, 2015 #8 Share Posted March 16, 2015 (edited) They completed the upgrade on the Royal during the February 27 cruise - we were able to use it during the last couple of days of that cruise. The messenger app worked pretty well, but there is no sound when you receive one so you have to keep checking. Astro Flyer Posted March 16, 2015 #9 Share Posted March 16, 2015 The messenger app worked pretty well, but there is no sound when you receive one so you have to keep checking. To me that's good news because I don't want to hear "dings" from other passenger's mobile devices.
tully07 Posted March 16, 2015 #10 Share Posted March 16, 2015 I agree. It's just that we're so used to being advised when a message arrives that it takes a while to get used to looking for messages. And I' m not one to constantly check my phone.......
napunani Posted March 18, 2015 Author #11 Share Posted March 18, 2015 Thanks for all the updates. I still haven't heard back from PRINCESSS Customer Service. Wonder why they just don't post this on their website, especially the portion for BOOKED GUESTS .

napunani Posted March 18, 2015 Author #13 Share Posted March 18, 2015 I've looked throughout the PRINCESS website - no mention of PRINCESS@SEA messenger, so I emailed Customer Service. I was able to find the App and download, but states you must be connected with the ship's Wifi. I received a response email from PRINCESS CUSTOMER SERVICE today. The popular Princess@Sea web site is now live on nine ships. Using the free Princess@Sea web app, guests can use their laptop, smartphone, or tablet to easily access information about dress codes, events, gangway details, itineraries, menus, ports, weather, view stateroom account charges in real time, and more. In addition, guests can speak with other guests on the same cruise using the Princess@Sea Messenger. Princess@Sea is currently available on the following ships: • Caribbean Princess • Coral Princess • Crown Princess • Emerald Princess • Golden Princess • Regal Princess • Royal Princess • Ruby Princess • Sapphire Princess (English and Simplified Chinese.) In a short time, Princess@Sea has proven to be a popular and useful innovation for our guests. Work is underway to complete installation of Princess@Sea - and in more languages - before the end of 2015. jagsfan Posted March 19, 2015 #14 Share Posted March 19, 2015 Well, that's good news. Now all I have to do is talk DH to turn his phone on and carry it with him.
Colo Cruiser Posted March 19, 2015 #15 Share Posted March 19, 2015 Well we all know they make announcments but usually take some time to implement. :(
Tresa Posted March 19, 2015 #16 Share Posted March 19, 2015 Messaging was not available on the Emerald last week. Unless they did an update since Sunday it's not live for that ship yet. The patter, shipboard account, etc is working and we loved it.

andyandsue Posted March 27, 2015 #18 Share Posted March 27, 2015 just wondering The app is gone from the iTunes store, but still on the Google Play store. Here is the response I received today from customer service which doesn't make me happy since my family has both iPhone and Android and I was hoping to be able to use it to be in contact with my teens and DH: The mobile apps are still under testing and waiting for approvals. The app was brought down to fix some problems we saw in the initial tests. It will be back soon in iTunes. However you will be still able to chat on Princess@Sea web application from your phone. WisCruiser2 Posted March 27, 2015 #19 Share Posted March 27, 2015 Just chat with the friendly IT folks in the Internet Cafe -- they can help you set up the Princess @ Sea on your phone or tablet, & explain how it works. As previously mentioned, it was rolled out on the Royal at the end of the 2/27 cruise, so we really didn't get much of a chance to try the messenger part of it. It was really handy, though, to check on activities, etc. (although I still liked having the paper Patter to get the day's overview) :)
