FRMPEI Posted March 29, 2015 Author #176 Share Posted March 29, 2015 Celebrity Today Inserts Cont'd Shore Ex Fast Pass Cover Shore Ex Fast Pass Back Galapagos Insert We felt so honoured and special because we were invited to so many special events. LOL! I wonder if the shop vendors have to pay extra to have all this JUNK mail delivered to the staterooms? This may of worked decades ago but I would think no such much today. At the end of each evening I will add all the Junk inserts that we received during the day. Since I have some room on this post I will include the only one we received on Day 1. The most excessive "Junk Mailer" on board is Park West Auctions. I guess it must work financially for both Celebrity and Park West or they would not be there. Back the Details - We missed this event... Bummer! Next up Tuscan Regards, Kevin Reid
FRMPEI Posted March 29, 2015 Author #177 Share Posted March 29, 2015 Day 1 - FLL - Tuscan Grille So after sail-a-way Adam and I went down to guest services to get additional pass cards so we could get into the propers rooms. I confused the poor young woman at Guest Services and should of asked for additional door access cards and not switch rooms. My card is not the original because it lost its magnetic strip during the week. Adam and I made a stop at the Passport bar were I had my first can of Coke and Adam tried some concoction that he said was pretty strong. By this time all of our luggage had arrived so we unpacked before hopping into the shower. Our reservation at Tuscan Grille is at 6:30 PM for six. With Six you are not going to get the primo spots by the aft window and wake. Those are mostly for two with a couple of tables for four at either end. Our waiter tonight was Jesse who was very good and provided excellent service thru out the evening. The Tuscan is my personal favourite of all the "S" class ship specialty dining options. Why? I am a Steak and Potato guy. This would be the boys second time in Tuscan we all did it for the first time back in 2012 on Solstice. When i booked the 5 dinner package back in December I was able to only pre-book one and this is one I booked. Just rechecked my notes back in December and the cost was indeed $151 CDN/person for the 5 dinner package. While I was Tuscan I booked the balance of other dinners. They had this very handy card to write your reservation down on then put them in my iPhone's Notes App. Dining Package Card - Front Dining Package Card - Back All of us were able to take full advantage of our Premium Beverage package during our diners. The sommelier in the picture below became Donna and Adam's new friend. He held the Riedel comparative wine glass seminar on last seas day. The closest washrooms for the Specialty Restaurants are up in the Ensemble lounge. With the women actual quite a bit further then the mens. For those who had read my Equinox Trip know that I gave a warning about the placement of the urinals and public display of your private parts. Direct link that specific post I had told the boys this story and they were interested in checking this out on Silhouette but, I am happy to report the designers of these ships recognized their error and did not make the same mistake on Silhouette. The urinal were placed on the opposite wall. Regards, Kevin Reid
FRMPEI Posted March 29, 2015 Author #178 Share Posted March 29, 2015 Day 1 FLL - Tuscan Grille For those who have not yet tried Tuscan I took pictures of the menu. There are two pages to the menu but, I was not able to get each page in one picture so I will break it up into pieces to make it easy to read. I think it was after our 2012 cruise that Tuscan changed up how you ordered your mains. Back then your main came out with predesigned sides from the menu. I like it the way it is now... order your main and then also oder your sides. Left Side Top - Starters Left Side Bottom - Soups & Salads Right Side Top - Pasta Right Side Middle - Surf & Turf Right Side Bottom - Sides I got to give sister Michele props for this evening. She was not feeling very well and was making quite a few trips to the washroom. But she held in there for the whole thing but was not able to enjoy herself very much. I think those heavy carry-on and all the that walking and rushing in Miami was not good for her. Regards, Kevin Reid
FRMPEI Posted March 29, 2015 Author #179 Share Posted March 29, 2015 Day 1 FLL - Tuscan Grille Enough of the menus already lets get to the food porn pictures already. This nice plate of suff I don't think anybody at our table touched it. Brother-in-law Louis likes it pretty simple when he eats. No starters, soups or salads for him. Just give Louis some meat and potatoes. I got to give Louis credit he did branch out a wee bit in his eating. Everybody but Louis tried the Beef Braised Ravioli. Which are quite good. They use to have Risotto balls that we had tried in the past. I had a picture rule while eating I was supposed to be allowed to take a picture of all food before a fork, spoon, or knife hit it. You will see in some pics some people did not cooperate or I just forgot. Some of us also tried the Minestrone soup. Michele though it was a bit to spicy for her but I really like it. I had suggested that Michele try the Tuscan Onion Soup but she declined. I saved that until our return on Day 7 Saturday. Our waiter, Jesse, tried to convince Adam not to have a Ceasar Salad but Adam still went with Caesar. I really enjoy the Tuscan Chop Salad so I order one. When it arrived I picked up the Pepper Grinder, well I thought it was the pepper grinder, and gave it a healthy grinding of fresh pepper. Took my first first fork full and whew! that was salty. Jesse was kind enough to replace it with a new once and this time I was more careful when I picked up the Pepper grinder. FRMPEI Posted March 29, 2015 Author #182 Share Posted March 29, 2015 Day 1 FLL - Tuscan Grille Picture of Donna enjoying her wine and conversation. I believe everybody had the Filet mignon. The women had theirs cooked butterfly. Nolan and I are the only ones that don't take our meat well done we are closer to medium. Later in the week Adam dropped down from well done and liked it. Below is a picture of a beautiful Filet Mignon. Makes me Hungry just looking at it. Picture of Michele's butterflied steak where she violated my fork knife picture rule. That is right Adam just keep on smiling. Let me tell you a little story about the golf shirt Adam is wearing. I have the same one in Large. The week after the cruise I went into the closet and put my shirt on. I am thinking wow I must of gained a lot of weight on this cruise because this shirt is pretty tight. That evening took it off and threw it to be washed. Fast forward to last week and was in closet picking a shirt to wear for work and noticed that there are two of the same shirts hanging up but Adam's was a small. That made me feel much better about my cruise weight gain. Nolan loves Spaghetti so he also ordered some to have with his steak. Donna shared her order of Risotto. FRMPEI Posted March 29, 2015 Author #185 Share Posted March 29, 2015 Day 1 - FLL Tuscan Grille Sides: Grilled Mediterranean Vegetables Roasted Herb Potatoes Baked Pecorino Mac and Cheese Sorry my photo of the Garlic Mashed Potatoes was to blurry to show here. The steaks and sides were delicious. Poor Michele she was just not able to enjoy her evening. So who is ready for some dessert or should I say Dolce? FRMPEI Posted March 29, 2015 Author #186 Share Posted March 29, 2015 Day 1 FLL - Tuscan Grille I do believe everybody went for the assorted Gelato. I love Celebrity's Gelato and if it is on the menu I am going for it. Nolan just couldn't wait to dig into his before dad got the picture taken. It was so good it had Adam licking his plate. When we finished up dessert it was just past 9:00 PM. We were already to late to catch the 9 PM showing of Celebrity Showtime: Opening Night in the main theatre so we skipped it. As matter of fact we skipped all shows except for the comedian and Pete the Juggler. Not really like us to skip the shows but Donna and I saw them twice on our back to back in 2013. Michele not feeling so good called it an evening went off to bed. We were going to check out the Martini Bar but on our way out of the Ensemble lounge Adam gave me his thinking pose. FRMPEI Posted March 29, 2015 Author #187 Share Posted March 29, 2015 Day 1 - Martini Bar So the four of wandered over to the Martini Bar and there was nobody around and we were able to get seats right at the bar.(love the frosted bar) We all ordered a Martini. Yes! even me and I don't drink. I have no idea what I ordered. I just ordered whatever Nolan did. I figured if we ordered at least four we would get a mini Martini mix/pour show and we were not disappointed. Adam took the picture while I tried to video it with my point and shot Sony but it was too dark to use any of the footage. The little pour. I have a video I will share of a big pour that I captured in 2013. Our bartender was kind enough to take a couple of pictures for us. I only took a couple of sips of my Martini no liquor was spared in these drinks IMO. Reassured myself why I don't drink. Here are some close up pics of our Martinis. Maybe Adam or Nolan can chime in if they remember the names. Nolan and I had this one: Donna had this one: Adam tried this one: FTI. That "techno"(as some call it here) music was playing at the Martini Bar. I love that stuff and they played a couple of songs that boys and I knew. FRMPEI Posted March 29, 2015 Author #188 Share Posted March 29, 2015 The Big Pour - Celebrity Silhouette March 2013 I captured this footage during the first week of our Silhouette back to back 2013. Clip is only 1:03 minutes long so please give it a click. This video is not on my Vimeo channel but rather on YouTube with annoying ads. I should put it up on my Vimeo Plus account. IrishLassie Posted March 29, 2015 #189 Share Posted March 29, 2015 Loving your review, & I'm still reading but have one question. Do you happen to remember if there is a server in at the Martini Bar names Taz, he's from Turkey? He was our favorite server on the whole ship & hoping he's still there when we decide to sail on Silhouette again. Loved the video !
FRMPEI Posted March 29, 2015 Author #190 Share Posted March 29, 2015 Day 1 - Off to Bed Before leaving I took this pic of the normally very busy main foyer. Pretty quiet there this evening? Picked up a large bottle of Evian at the Fortune Casino bar before heading up deck 10. I like to end my posts for the day with a picture of the bed with the next days treasures all laid out on the foot of the bed. Donna know the rule when it comes to MY Celebrity Today's. She has to be very careful with them and not put any bends, creases, or dog ears on them because I require them in pristine condition for scanning. I go down the next day to guest services and pick up a couple of Today's to rip out the schedules for the day and carry around with me. We are back in room just after 10:00 PM and it has been a long time since we got up at 3:30 AM EST in Moncton. I spent the next 90 minutes taking pics of the captain club coupons and jotting down notes and recap the day in my notebook. We are happy to be abroad the Beautiful Celebrity Silhouette but just a little frustrated with getting here. But we got over that pretty fast. As per tomorrow's Celebrity Today Sunrise is at 6:24 AM and that is when I am getting up to catch the sunrise. One more thing... I have to add this little story that Adam told me about their room's cooling/heat control dial that is just on the outside of the bathroom door wall. Well! Adam though that this dial/control was for the fan speed for the fan in the washroom and wanted it quiet so he turned it down all the way down to the left. So when they woke during the night to use the washroom they were wondering why it was so friggin cold in their room. LOL! Adam by the way there is no fan in the washroom. Hope you enjoyed Day 1 of our cruise? Please stay tuned and please add your questions and comments. Regards, Kevin Reid UP NEXT

I am generally not the best to ask if I remember a crew member especially bartenders because I don't drink. I will remember faces of crew members from cruise to cruise but only sometimes their name. poffles Posted March 30, 2015 #192 Share Posted March 30, 2015 Another question for you in relation to the charter side of things. What documentation did you need for the flight check and for transfers side of things. I know what to have for the ship check in but realizing I'm not clear what they will be looking for in other areas. I will end up burning trees printing way more than I need but figured I'd ask someone who recently went through the process. And still loving your report, you post it fast enough :) You pictures are beautiful.
