Trying RCI again after many years away if you like proper formal nights, don't book one of the quantum class ships. just letting you know for future reference. They have done away with the formal nights now completely.
Biker19 Posted April 9, 2015 #8 Share Posted April 9, 2015 As mentioned in a previous post, once the Oasis is converted to dynamic dining (likely well before your sailing), formal nights will likely be gone. You can go formal to Grande any night you wish.

Rare LMaxwell Posted April 9, 2015 #11 Share Posted April 9, 2015 what's a formal night got to do with dynamic dining ..... or eating at all for that matter ??? just asking ? On Royal Caribbean "formal night" hasn't been "formal night" for many, many years. It has become optional formal dress for the main dining room only. No other venue on the ship requests formal dressing. Other cruise lines formal night means formal in all (or most) public venues in the evening, but that no longer exists on RCI. With dynamic dining the guest chooses when and where they want to eat among several different themed restaurants, each with a bespoke menu, that replace the traditional main dining room / single menu format. These newer, smaller venues typically can only hold 10-15% of the total number of guests, not the near 50% that the traditional MDR is designed for over two seating times. Therefore formal night is changing to formal dress in one particular venue on all nights. That way those that DO want to dress formal have a restaurant that they can select any and/or all nights, and those that do not want to dress formal at all still have a selection of included dining venues. Hence, dynamic; ever changing based on guests desires.
garycarla Posted April 9, 2015 #12 Share Posted April 9, 2015 Any One? I am guessing the reason you did not get a quick response is that you already answered the question. It could change. And maybe change again.

dplusd Posted April 9, 2015 #14 Share Posted April 9, 2015 What nights are formal on Oasis Eastern cruiseWe sail April 2016 so i know thing might change. Trying RCI again after many years away Dynamic Dining should be implemented on Oasis by your cruise next year. With DD there is not a "formal night" as in the past. One of the restaurants (The Grande) will have suggested formal dress every night. All other restaurant will be Royal Caribbean casual every night. At least that's the current plan! They prefer to slum around in shorts and baseball caps everywhere ...... so that's fair enough ...... formal nights are getting to be a waste on them really :(

CruiseTobey Posted April 9, 2015 #18 Share Posted April 9, 2015 You COULD have been making that post in fluent German... Ha! Good one Max. Who wants to be uptight when on vacation? The "shorts and baseball caps" was typical hyperbole, but I for one am glad RCL has finally decided to join the 21st century.
