Be very careful using Uber. The drivers are required to carry insurance but not commercial insurance. So, if there is an accident the drivers insurance company will deny coverage due to exclusion for vehicles for hire. Then Uber the company will try their best to not use their insurance either.

This has been discussed several times on the Florida Departures board (it has nothing really to do with Princess). Uber can not enter the port area at Port Everglades. Uber operates around the area, but not in the Port.

I understand why Uber might not be allowed to enter the port to pick up passengers, but why would they not be allowed to enter the port to drop off passengers? Any other vehicle with passengers can enter.

A commercial vehical (truck, taxi, limo, etc.) has to have a special

sticker to enter the port. If you are carrying passengers for hire,

you are a commercial vehicle.

Additionally, the driver is supposed to have a 'hack' license.

When I have been in a limo, they usually request the port

registration, and the hack license from the driver.

One day in January, I was bring a couple people back to the ship

(that I had picked up earlier).

In addition to the regular deputies, they had a bunch of

'State Law enforcement officers' with electronic 'ticket pads'. They

grilled everyone in my car, trying to find out if they were

paying me for bringing them to the port.

They were not, so I had no problem. But, there were a couple

private cars that they had pulled over.
