janmcn Posted March 28, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 28, 2015 Pan Pacific Vancouver pre-AK-cruise costs for '15? Curious for planning for '16. Not many recent comments on staying as the "pre-cruise package" there, but we'll be bringing 4 families along, so want to make sure things are easy for everyone from airport to ship. We'll stay 1 night. Would love folks' experiences.
rkacruiser Posted March 28, 2015 #2 Share Posted March 28, 2015 I have no current information as to package costs for the Pan Pacific. But, I have utilized HAL's packages there as far back as 2001 when I have sailed from or arrived at Vancouver. I have always been pleased. My most recent experience required a very early, and I mean very early, departure from the hotel in order to get to the airport. Motor coach/van transportation could not be provided at that ungodly hour as I expected. Instead, I was given a voucher to pay for my taxi fare and it was accepted without issue. I have also used in 1996 a HAL package that provided a stay at the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel, just across the street from the Pan Pacific. That also was a very good experience. rwams Posted March 28, 2015 #3 Share Posted March 28, 2015 I did a post-cruise stay last year, the hotel is really nice and the staff is excellent. I was issued a voucher to the airport also with no problem enjoyed the tour of Vancouver with the taxi. Enjoy your stay there!
PathfinderEss Posted March 28, 2015 #4 Share Posted March 28, 2015 We did the package last year and will do it again this year. It is wonderful and makes it so easy. Love the Pan Pacific hotel.
Rowsby Posted March 28, 2015 #5 Share Posted March 28, 2015 We used HAL's package for 2 nights pre-cruise and 1 night post-cruise in 2013 and in 2014... Very nice rooms...friendly staff...and the HAL Representative escorts you from the lobby to the terminal...which was really nice...!! Enjoy....!!! Rare Crew News Posted March 28, 2015 #6 Share Posted March 28, 2015 (edited) The times we have been in a Neptune Suite and departing from Vancouver, our HAL PCC arranged a free room either pre- or post-cruise. If we stayed an extra day, the charge was $260 USB/night. The cruise terminal is an elevator ride down from the Pan Pacific Hotel lobby.so spending the night before your cruise is a good idea. There is an underground food court (McDonald's, Subway, burgers, Greek, etc.) just across the street if you are keen to save some food $$. The restaurant just a short walk (~100 yards) are quite good. Our $99 breakfast was not included in the free HAL room but the food court opened at 5:30 AM. We prefer post-cruise because we can just take the elevator up from the cruise terminal to the hotel lobby and then check-in to our room. Later in the afternoon, I catch a taxi to the airport to pick up a rental car so that we can depart for Seattle early the next morning. Rare kazu Posted March 29, 2015 #7 Share Posted March 29, 2015 would love to stay there. I guess we are on the wrong cruise as we didn't get the offer of free night. Nor are the prices reasonable IMO. for now, we will stay at the Marriott, but if we find something reasonable, I'd happily stay there. It and the Fairmont look like great places to stay even if the Marriott is rated higher on trip advisor. I'd love to watch the cruise ships :)

pmjnh Posted March 29, 2015 #10 Share Posted March 29, 2015 I have not experienced the HAL package but we did stay at the Pan Pacific the night before our Alaskan cruise on Princess. We did not purchase the Princess pre-cruise night package because it was ridiculously expensive but we did book the room ourselves directly from the Pan Pacific website. We got a great Bed and breakfast rate that was a fraction of the Princess package. The breakfast buffet was worth $28pp and it was awesome. We loved the Pan Pacific and what was even best, was the bellmen collected our luggage from the room in the morning and took it directly downstairs to the terminal and we didn't see it again until we entered our room..all without purchasing the package..that is just Pan Pacific's routine policy. We would stay there again in a heartbeat. Good luck!

We checked out of our Pan Pacific room at 10:00 and left the luggage in the room for pickup. The check in at the HAL terminal was quick and we were in our room by 11:05. Our luggage was already in the stateroom!!!! The Pan Pacific experience is always the best. Edited March 29, 2015 by Crew News
Ky Colonel Posted March 29, 2015 #12 Share Posted March 29, 2015 ... we have stayed at the Pan Pacific 2 times (once as a part of a HAL pre-cruise and once on our own) and once at the Fairmont - both are expensive but excellent (woth every penny of the cost) facilities. The PP has the edge IMO because it is literally connected to the ship terminal ... so whichever you choose, you won't be disappointed ... smooth sailing ... scopewest Posted March 29, 2015 #13 Share Posted March 29, 2015 (edited) We did the HAL Pan Pacific prepackage. We were met at the airport after we picked up our luggage by a HAL rep who walked us outside to the taxi line, put us in a taxi, gave the driver our voucher/hotel info, and wished us a great cruise. We got to the hotel, checked in, found the HAL desk and checked in with the rep. She told us we could either go down to the ship with her on embarkation morning or go by ourselves. We headed down an hour earlier than she said she was going down. Yeow, a line already! Glad we did that. We also left our luggage in our room, and the next time we saw it was in our cabin. We went and grabbed a snack embarkation morning from the Starbucks right outside the hotel, very handy! Edited March 29, 2015 by scopewest
janmcn Posted March 29, 2015 Author #14 Share Posted March 29, 2015 Thank you all for the helpful info...just what I wanted to know. As we get closer we'll figure out what the family wants to do/where they want to be, etc. (Also, appreciate the info about staying on your own at the PP and STILL being able to use their luggage delivery.) We stayed there pre cruise last year, booked on our own, not through HAL. In our case, we had to phone for the bellman and stay in the room until our luggage was collected. PLEASE be aware of that ;)

sapper1 Posted March 29, 2015 #17 Share Posted March 29, 2015 We have stayed there several times with a cruise package booked on our own that includes a free breakfast. If you want to go to the food court across the street under the Fairmont there is an underground passage from the Pan Pacific which makes it easy to get there. We have been very satisfied with the hotel and what it has to offer and are booked there again for two nights following our upcoming cruise. Really? You need to check it out a little more. Rare LAFFNVEGAS Posted March 30, 2015 #21 Share Posted March 30, 2015 I am staying at the Pan Pacific from HAL Pre one night of our Volendam cruise and the total cost is $256.96 per person, I saw someone posted earlier that it was $260 but that is NOT correct for the total price of the room. Also if you have families they may NOT be able to accommodate 4 in a room possibly three but in the past they have charged the third person the same so the one night room at the Pan Pacific for three may cost $770.88 PLUS Tax. My $256.96 cost per person does not include the tax that is listed in the total taxes. But this cost does include Transfers from the Airport to the Hotel if it is Pre Cruise or to the Airport if it is Post Cruise. It also included a Walking Tour of downtown Vancouver. Unknown at this time if HAL will offer free Pre or Post in recent including 2015 there are just a hand full of sailings both Seattle and Vancouver that if you booked a Suite you could get a free night stay. But those sailings that were not having problems selling Suites this was not being offered.
Dismomx5 Posted March 31, 2015 #22 Share Posted March 31, 2015 We did the Pan Pacific last year for a few days before our cruise. I used Hotwire for the first time. Went smoothly, and we loved being in the hotel. We ate at the foodcourt which is attached (down the stairs and under the street) to the hotel. Easy peasy. debdiva Posted March 31, 2015 #23 Share Posted March 31, 2015 I found an excellent price there on the hotel's website. It did not include the transfer from the airport, but that's only about $50 Canadian. So just add $50 to the hotel price to see if the HAL price is a good deal. In our case, the HAL price was nearly $300 and we paid $169+$50.
Rare kazu Posted March 31, 2015 #24 Share Posted March 31, 2015 Well, when I checked out the Pan Pacific , it was around $400 per night. I checked a number of times. Could not get the cruise package. Next time I will check as soon as bookings open and see if that makes a difference.

Next time I will check as soon as bookings open and see if that makes a difference. Prices at the Pan Pacific seem to vary wildly. I booked the nights Kazu was looking into for our upcoming cruise nearly a year ago and got them for $289 plus tax on a cruise package. I was blown away when I heard the rate at this point. The $289 is the highest we will have paid there to date.
