We have been struggling to plan our vacations this year.

For the past few years we went on the Disney ships - Amazing - and well worth it.

This year we are looking for something different this year and hopefully better on the wallet but dont know what. We are not locked into a cruise but we do enjoy them.

Our kids (10/7) enjoy the Disney ships and the clubs. We went on the Carnival Dream when it was brand new and they did not like the camp at all.

Cam someone throw out some good recommendations for this years vacation? We usually go in November but we are possibly looking into the summer. Alaska and Europe are out as I do not like to fly that long. We live in NY.

When we went on the Carnival Dream in between Disney cruises we liked the ship but it did not have the top notch Disney service/ambiance.

We have been to the Eastern/Western Caribbean the past few years and some of the ports get boring seeing them over and over again.

Join us on Celebrity Silhouette November 15 :D

Are you kids Harry Potter fans? We just got back from Universal Orlando. The kids had a blast! Not my idea of a holiday, but the kids had fun and we made some good family memories. Now, I'm ready for my next cruise :D

I 2nd either Universal or Disneyworld....both are fantastic! Disney entertains like no other...and Universal is outstanding, too! And, your kids are at the perfect age. Most folks try to do it when their kids are too young to really "get the magic"...your kids will be thrilled!!!

Hawaii is too far away. ~11 hours on a a plane.

We have been to Disney world almost every year as a well. Usually a day or two before or after the cruise.

They haven't gotten into the Harry Potter stuff.

We would like to go in the summer but it's more than double than during the school year. As the kids arevgetting older and sports we reall don't wantbto take them out of school anymore but will if we find something that works and is worth it.

If you are bored with the ports in the Caribbean and don't want to fly to Europe or the West Coast, have you considered a roundtrip cruise through the Panama Canal? There are 10 day Princess cruises that are roundtrip from Ft. Lauderdale and will visit:

Aruba (gorgeous island, very nice animal rescue center called Phillip's animal garden)

Cartagena, Columbia (really lovely city)

Panama (in addition to the canal, many people enjoy the visit to the Embera Indian village)

Limon, Costa Rica (not the highlight of Costa Rica, but an enjoyable stop. There is a Veruga rainforest with zip lines or a tram)

Grand Cayman Island or Jamaica (some of the itineraries visit the Grand Cayman Islands, where you can snorkel with stingrays and visit a turtle farm. Others visit Jamaica, where you can go to Dolphin Cove and swim with dolphins, feed birds and have parrots land on you).

Or we've really liked the ports in Central America - Guatemala is beautiful, Roatan Honduras has animal encounters and zip lines, Belize has a lovely zoo and cave tubing, and we've visited Mayan ruins in Mexico.

You can visit http://www.cruisetimetables.com to see which cruises visit ports you might be interested in Central America or the Caribbean.

Your other option from NY or Boston is to head north to Canada during the summer or early fall. Also, the Quantum/Anthem do some Caribbean cruises from Bayonne in addition to the Bermuda or Bahamas runs, but you may have already visited these ports.

Still looking for a summer vacation.

Costa Rica is on the bucket list but not ready for it yet.

Iceland. Great destination almost any time of the year. Lots of outdoor excursions, easy 4.5 hour flight from NYC.
