For bar drinks that are ordered from a waiter is more apporiate to tip a coup,e bucks each round or tip say 5$ the first round then skip a few rounds and tip? We have the UBP and I prefer to give cash. I don't know what the norm is. Also at speciality restaruants is more common to leave a few bucks in cash or write in a tip? Also on UDP so charge will be zero out. This is of course if service is good, which I'm sure it will be.

Try This. When you go to say the pool, wait a few minutes to order a drink. Look around and when you see a server running and interacting with people and getting out lots of drinks, call them over. Order from them and then tip them $10-20. I guarantee that you will never have an empty glass when this server is around. If you order a lot of drinks per day or if you just want great service, this is the way to go. I do this in the casino and it works great. I had a server on the Breakaway last year bringing myself and my wife our drinks minutes after entering. We were passing through on our way to a show and he saw us, but we were rushed and said that we would see him later. Well when we on line for the show at the front of the ship, he shows up with 2 drinks for us. This was way out of the ordinary, but my point is to pick out a good server and stick with him. Tipping early has always worked best for us.

We tip one or two dollars cash, per round, to staff in the lounges or theater who have to walk quite a bit to get to us. The same person may not come back to serve, so you might want to keep that in mind. We also tip cash in specialty restaurant at the end of our meal.

They add an 18% gratuity automatically (included in the UBP if you have it), so you don't have to tip extra unless you choose to. Same with the specialty restaurants - 18% is added (included in the UDP if you have it), so you don't actually have to tip extra.

That said, we like to tip at least 20%, assuming that the service is good. We have always tipped extra on past cruises and will continue to do so now that the auto-gratuity is higher. We don't carry cash on the ship and just add it the additional tip to our drink receipts. We don't usually stick to one bartender, but if we intended to stay in one place for a while and have several rounds of drinks there, we might give a larger tip on the first round instead of smaller tips each round.

The tip is added to the cost of the drink...if you have a package, the tip was added to the cost of the package. When you sign your tab, you can add more tip, if you feel the need.

We've never pre-tipped, and yet, we still get great service!

Thanks everyone, I guess truly there is no norm on when or how to tip. I just wanted to make sure how we did it last time didn't make us stand out like a sore thumb, lol.

We have a cruise tip envelope that we collect all our singles in , "usually $60 -$100 " I like to tip a buck or two every time , cash . :D
